Former ATWT Star Joins the Ever-Expanding Web Soap, Empire

The cast of the hit web soap, Empire, just got a little bit bigger. Former As the World Turns star Yvonne Perry (ex-Rosanna) joins the cast, along with actors Mary Leggio and Ariel Heller. Leggio is best known for her appearance in Andy Samberg’s digital shorts on Saturday Night Live, and Heller is a member of the Lyric Stage Company. The show expresses their excitement in Perry’s return to the soap genre.

"Yvonne Perry’s experience brings not only an established reputation to our young show, but has helped us combine her familiar soap opera milleu with a new age online channel" said co-creator Greg Turner.  "Her expertise, added to our talented ‘Guiding Light’ alumni and combined with the excitement and energy of our up-and-coming stars has created an unmatched chemistry."

Making cameos in the new season are Days of Our Lives stars and real-life supercouple Casey Deidrick (Chad) and Molly Burnett (Melanie).

Along with the casting news, Empire is fundraising in New York City while they finish season three. You can donate to or visit for more details.

I’m glad Yvonne is doing well in her fight against cancer and is back in the soap genre! Never very fond of early Rosanna but I thought Yvonne was great when Rosanna got the harder edge and went after Carly.
