The ratings are in and it looks like General Hospital is finally turning things around a bit. ABC Daytime released a press release touting GH's top spot among women 18-34. TV's oldest soap currently in production gained 68,000 total viewers and held steady in households (tied in 3rd place with Days of Our Lives and All My Children). GH also went up one-tenth of a point among women 18-49, landing in the Number 2 spot in that demo, only separated from The Young and the Restless by two-tenths of a point. Elsewhere on the ABC dial, AMC went up 59,000 total viewers from the previous week. AMC went up one-tenth of a point in household, yet held steady among women 18-49. AMC was in last place in that coveted demo. One Life to Live went up 83,000 total viewers, yet held steady in households and among women 18-49. OLTL was, however, in last place in households at a 1.7.

NBC's DAYS went up 32,000 total viewers, but was down a whopping 495,000 total viewers year-to-date. Remember when DAYS was up by huge numbers year-to-date for months earlier this year? WTF happened? DAYS went up one-tenth of a point in households, yet held steady among women 18-49 in 3rd place.

CBS Daytime's The Young and the Restless lost 118,000 total viewers over the previous week. Y&R held steady in households, but dropped two-tenths of a ratings point among women 18-49, tying its all-time low rating in that demo. I am nervous to say one word bad against Y&R this week, because as schizo as Maria Arena Bell's tenure has been, I would see her given a lifetime contract before Chris Goutman even be allowed on set with his handy cams and microchips. I REFUSE to watch my Kay Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) out doors in some field with faux Indigo Girls music playing, as someone zooms in on the inner workings of her nostrils.

Come on Ri Ri, you impressed the hell out of us your first six months, cut off TCM and give us your best, before Barbara Bloom manages to convince Sony to let her sic Goutman on Genoa City in a higher capacity. "Only a director" my fat Aunt Carlene's fanny! This is the beginning of a coup and anyone who doesn't see it, needs Adam Newman (Michael Muhney) to let them borrow his contacts.

Y&R's sister, The Bold and the Beautiful, gained 106,000 total viewers over the previous week. B&B held steady in households, yet went down one-tenth of a point among women 18-49, tying it's all-time low in that demo. Save for GH and B&B, all soaps tied their lowest rating ever among women 18-34.
