HomeTVOWNOWN Reveals Premiere Lineup; Plus Docusoaps Featuring The Judds, Ryan and Tatum O’Neal Jamey Giddens November 1, 2010 7 Comments The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) has revealed its premiere week lineup, as well as three new original series. OWN will begin airing January 1, 2011 with series featuring several Oprah-sanctioned names like Dr. Phil, Suze Orman and Gayle King. Additionally The Mighty O‘s new channel has announced a pair of docusoaps, one called The Judds, starring country music legends Naomi and Wynomna Judd and the other, The O’Neals, featuring troubled father/daughter duo Ryan and Tatum O’Neal. A third new reality series, Carson-Nation, will showcase Queer Eye for The Straight Guy alum Carson Kressley traveling the U.S. to change lives in small towns. "During our launch weekend, the audience will see a little of everything OWN has to offer," said Christina Norman, chief executive officer, OWN. "Oprah as they’ve never seen her in Season 25: Oprah Behind The Scenes, expert advice from Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil and Suze Orman to get their year started right on Ask Oprah’s All-Stars and sneak peeks at the kinds of shows we believe really fulfill our mission to be entertaining and inspiring." While I am definitely a fan of all things O, I have to say I am much more excited about seeing Mama Judd and Daughter Judd fussing and singing than I am any more airtime being afforded that windgbag Dr. Phil. Perry has followed the soap production model to produce his shows. Why not create a few telenovelas in the same way? Victoria Rowell spends half her time in Atlanta. Why can’t the three of them join forces? Wishful thinking? Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 November 1, 2010 Josstheguy– WONDERFUL idea. From your lips to the heavens……… Nothing would make my jaded little heart happier than to see my Victoria Rowell become the EXECUTIVE PRODUCER/HEAD WRITER of the next great American soap opera!!! With Tyler Perry’s money and influence and Victoria’s talent, the possibilities are endless!!!! I think a 30 minute soap starring Victoria Rowell and Vivica A. Fox would be a HIT! Log in to Reply marknsprmo November 2, 2010 I am dissapointed that Oprah is putting on the Judd and Oneal shows. If she wants to be uplifting why not present people who are trying to better their lives through hard work. I enjoy goal oriented reality shows much more than I do the scandalous stuff such as bored housewives of boon town, and drunk and druggie superstar with his equally screwed up child programs. They are not inspiring, nor am I entertained. More like BORED. I hope other offerings will be better! There’s something gross about seeing real people engaging in catfights and cursing at each other. When I see Alexis and Krystal do it, I know it’s fake and can enjoy it, but seeing real people engage in elementary school antics just makes me feel as if I’m wasting my time.
