HomeTVAll My ChildrenDC #588: Mixing it up on The Morning Jolt With Larry Flick Daytime Confidential November 7, 2010 21 Comments Daytime Confidential/Pop Confidential’s Luke, Jamey, Jillian and Regan returned to Sirius XM’s The Morning Jolt With Larry Flick Friday, November 5 for two hours of daytime and pop culture dissection with Flick and his partner-in-snark Keith Price. In the wild first hour, Larry let loose with several comments about General Hospital’s Elizabeth Webber that had Jamey, Luke and Regan howling in defense of their sacred heroine, as DC’s lone JaSam fan Jillian cheered. The return of Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo as Brenda Barrett was also discussed. Does the veteran Billboard writer and radio personality feel the story is limping along like the DC’ers? The discussion shifted to One Life to Live, the show Larry previously said should be canceled the last time the gang appeared. Has the return of soap superstar Kim Zimmer as Countess Echo di Savoy helped change that opinion? What about All My Children, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless and Days of our Lives? Don’t worry, they all get plenty of raunchy, hilarious service! During the second hour, Larry dives into Pop Confidential territory, taking Luke to task over his dislike of country’s current teen queen Taylor Swift. Then, pop culture meets politics as Larry and Keith weigh in on the recent Pop Confidential podcast debate over former President George W. Bush saying Kanye West’ claiming Bush hated black people was the low point of his presidency. If you thought this crew was crazy by themselves, just wait ’til you hear Out Q’s most outrageous duo added to the mix! All this and much more on today’s show! Log in to Reply pmad8 November 7, 2010 I so enjoy listening to Luke, Jamey, Jillian, and Regan – the four of them have great chemistry. I just wish Jillian wouldn’t be rude and disrespectful to Luke. It’s not necessary or kind. I’m guessing Jillian might say she’s joking, but her tone is so harsh, it doesn’t seem like a joke and it’s not pleasant for a listener to listen to someone being unkind to another person, especially since the vibe with everyone is so playful and fun. I do like listening to Jillian, she has great insights and she is very funny. It’s just disappointing she feels a need to be disrespectful to Luke to elevate herself. My hope is she might check her tone and give Luke the same respect she gives Jamey. It was offensive to ms rowell and to people with mental disabilities. saying that is just as offensive as saying to a guy he fights like a faggot calling him soft because of the ignorance of society, No one slur is okay and is above the other. I dont think victoria will be back on YR because of too many burned bridges but at least she aint cooning to ignorance and she fights the good fight. victoria said she wouldnt return until the brass was different and fair so i know shes not expecting to be back soon unless things change which they wont too soon because every winters except except lilly is treated like a step child played as her accesories its not fair black people watch yr but barent represented if the south didnt exist yr wold not be number in ratings. id rather have the amazing memories of her being there before rather over the head writers of yr give her a terrible story where she plays accessory to lilly. They cant write for black people on the show or write the show period. Obama isnt a shitty president i dont understand how people dont realize the recession didnt happen slowly it took a while under bush so it will be a while to be over it is getting better. And if larry flick was mad cause of gay rights and DADT people dont realize obama cant sign DADT into law with the presidential power cause the repoublicans in the senate blocked it, DADT has to play out in congress. the american people are too impatient but they scapegoat obama when everything he is doing with legislation is helping build back the country with reforms. white guilt if played only played a small percentage he is a well educated man that honestly cares about the american people with great ideas he won on his own stature as a canidate not off of white guilt, PLEASE. Oh he definitley is wrong on that, since the actress who has been playing her has been on there for nearly almost 13 years. Log in to Reply timepass November 7, 2010 Loved it as usual! Way to go guys! Log in to Reply Dariclone November 7, 2010 I loved listening to you guys talking to Larry Flick! I was with Larry on his ideas about stories for One Life to Live untill he said he didn’t like Starr! That’s just wrong! And Reagan, don’t worry you’re not a show killer. You and I just fall for the wrong shows and get our hearts broken over and over. Log in to Reply Smitty November 7, 2010 Loved this podcast! I was upset that I couldn’t listen to them online Friday but I listened to this during my run at the gym. Great stuff. Now I couldn’t disagree with Larry more on the George Bush issue. Kanye wasn’t and isn’t the first person to call George Bush racist. I’ve personally heard people call him much worse. As a President he was villified for many things throughout his presidency. Hell this country suffered through TWO recessions during his presidency, 9/11, Katrina, Two wars, mission accomplished disaster, and you mean to tell me that Kanye West calling this man a racist is a big deal. I call major foul! I just don’t see how it can be justified. I don’t see Larry or Luke’s point. I just don’t. Great discussion though. I enjoyed it. I love talking politics so it’s great seeing you all discuss it. Well sort of discuss. Me and Larry are soulmates and if he calls out the DC gang on the (slightly annoying) Liason love…that’s it, I’m flying to NY tomorrow and claiming my future husband to be. LOL Log in to Reply Luke Kerr November 7, 2010 Better buy yourself a ticket to NYC then Troymcclure LOL Log in to Reply troymcclure November 7, 2010 Larry, I’m coming!!!!!!!!!!! Log in to Reply Katiebug9624 November 8, 2010 Best couple in town is a threesome, I thoroughly enjoy Vicki/Echo/and Dorian thrown in on occasion. Billy and Victoria are babies…best couple in daytime my…(I’m trying to refrain from cussing as much as possible but you get the picture) Log in to Reply troymcclure November 8, 2010 [quote=DaytimeDramaDiva]Jamey! JR and Annie are perfection and bringing it back to old school baby!! Log in to Reply stoney07 November 8, 2010 Victoria and Billy are INCREDIBLE. I think they are the best example of a “younger generation” supercouple. I agree, Jamie. As for B&B being two shows…I agree. I don’t think it’s as horrible as Larry says…but then again, I’ve always disagreed with his Y&R and B&B hate…because they are still two of the best soaps on air…along with OLTL. So yeah, that’s my opinion. Y&R, B&B, OLTL are the only watchable soaps right now Log in to Reply stoney07 November 8, 2010 And as a side note, what happened to the Performer of the Week segments? Log in to Reply 6-soaps November 8, 2010 I’m no longer enjoying the Larry Flick podcasts. He tries too hard to be outrageous. I find him increasingly mean-spirited. And his political prejudices are laughably irrational. Log in to Reply Jillian Bowe November 8, 2010 Jasam 4 LIFE!! Told ya’ll I rep Jasam!! *LMAO!* Log in to Reply mrsa1107 November 9, 2010 I can not disagree more with Larry and his views on OLTL. Out of the 3 shows in ABC’s line-up OLTL is written the best and has some of the most talented stars on any daytime show. Even before the return of Echo– Erika S and Robin S always jumped off the screen– its not their fault that it took Kim Z’s return to give these divas back the spotlight! The actors who play: Blair, Tea, Bo, Clint. Nora, Marty, Jessica, Natalie, Starr, and Roxy are super taleneted and can carry any storyline they are given. There arent as many supporting players on other soaps who can carry leading stories of their own—– but this crew can. In fact I believe all the above characters are leading characaters of teh show and the actors who play them are the reasons why. Melissa A is so talented and I would be very upset to see the show let her go or recast this role. She lives in my area- and I know people who have met her and say she is sooo nice- so gracious and very pretty. They say you would never know by her behavior that she is on TV- she doesnt brag or come across snotty. That she and her husband are just your average everyday people. I think the one show on the ABc line up that needs to go is AMC! That show cant seem to get their act together. Granted they have all the big name soap stars for the network but come on– the actors need good material and sorry to say that hasnt happened on this show in a very long time. Log in to Reply thecourt99 November 10, 2010 I agree with Larry that OLTL doesn’t have an identity. However, OLTL is trying to gain its identity and people may not agree with the direction. OLTL is no longer the show about diverse people from diverse backgrounds melding together in one city. The show is becoming cookie cutter and youthful. And regardless of the fact that KZ is bringing her A game right now and ES and RS are in the forefront..I don’t see it as lasting long. Once Rex finds out that KZ is his mother…I doubt we will see them bond. What other trouble can Echo get into once this secret is out? Will she steal Charlie? ZZZZZzzzzz. What other male interest could there be for her? Will she work with Dorian again? ZZZzzzzz… They are still setting up Dorian to be the “talk to” and matriarch of the Kramers, and they aren’t even giving Vicki that much. Vicki was so focused on Echo that she wasn’t involved in her family crisis AT ALL. Even when Todd stopped by to give her an invite it rang false. So when the Echo story is over, I doubt they will give Vicki much and she will go back to the attic. AMC does need to go though……. Log in to Reply Cyberologist November 16, 2010 I agree with Jamey Billy and Victoria are the best couple on Soaps…I don’t watch ABC much I peek in and their pairings are stale dry and boring. Soaps aren’t a sitcom I don’t want a pairing for life its ridiculous. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
