Union Dispute SHUTS DOWN Alison Sweeney’s Primetime Hit, The Biggest Loser!

Deadline is reporting labor disputes have caused production of NBC’s hit reality challenge The Biggest Loser, hosted by Days of Our Lives star Alison Sweeney, to shut down.

Production on NBC’s veteran reality series The Biggest Loser has been put on hold following a walkout by the show’s crew in an effort to unionize. I hear that representatives from IATSE, the union that represents most film and TV crew members, showed up on the set of The Biggest Loser last night and led the crew off the set. As a result, filming on the show was suspended.

According to Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva, the show, which is currently in its 10th season, didn’t film on Tuesday as crew members seek to unionize via the IATSE. Production company Reveille and the union are reportedly discussing a potential agreement.

    Appleridge,

Most reality shows are non-union. The crew aren’t covered by union contracts. The hosts aren’t acting so, they might not be working under their unions.

When crews aren’t working under union contracts, their work doesn’t count for health insurance or pensions. They might also be making less money than people on union shows.
