HomeTVChelsea LatelyChelsea Handler Pokes Fun at One Life to Live’s Starr and James! Jamey Giddens November 17, 2010 Chelsea Lately, One Life to Live 14 Comments Oh my damn…my favorite late night talk show host Chelsea Handler went in on One Life to Live’s Starr (Kristen Alderson) and James (Nic Robuck) on Chelsea Lately. Usually I get my knickers in a twist when mainstream programs diss soaps, but Handler’s style shows she’s in on the joke and let’s face it, that was a looong list of cheestastic reasons James gave for not schtupping Starr! Thanks StefanieM23 for the tip via Twitter! Watch the clip after the jump. I thought it was hilarious! Log in to Reply bishbay November 17, 2010 I like CH sometimes, but here it’s annoying because what she doesn’t acknowledge is that this sort of crazy exposition is a feature, not a bug, of soap operas intended to orient new or returning viewers. Could it have been done more skillfully than this? Yes. But it’s something I really enjoy about the genre. Log in to Reply east.west November 17, 2010 I find it suspect to be honest. One of the Kardashians are going to be on the show, so possibly E! mandated, but that is the skeptic in me. I laughed and cringed at the same time when I saw it last night. This along w/the other news of late is contributing to the .(multiple zeros in front mind you, b/c the site does “555”)1% resurgence the soaps are getting in terms of crossover buzz. So a tip of the hat to Chelsea for making a contribution. Log in to Reply blake3b November 17, 2010 Love it and love Chelsea! Log in to Reply appleridge November 17, 2010 That Was Funny & Taken Out Of Context That Scene Would Play As Over The Top Log in to Reply doctormo77 November 17, 2010 It’s all good for OLTL! Look, it is free publicity! ABC is always talking about how AMC and GH have more iconic characters. Starr Manning, ABC Daytime’s Teen Mom! Log in to Reply TV Gord November 17, 2010 That…was…hilarious! I can’t believe I was biting my fingernails through that same scene just last week, and now I’m rolling! Chelsea has been absent from Canadian TV in the last year or so, but she’s coming back in a couple of weeks, and I am programming her in right now! Log in to Reply samanthadelayed November 17, 2010 I do love Chelsea! Hey, that scene was cheese-tastic.. which is why I loved it.. hehe Log in to Reply east.west November 17, 2010
Taken Out Of Context That Scene Would Play As Over The Top
It played OTT in context lol! But that is the Carlivati way and I like it (most of the time). Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 November 18, 2010 Hilarious!!!!!!! Log in to Reply Chels725 November 18, 2010 Lmao! Log in to Reply dang90210 November 18, 2010 i would have poke fun of them to they was bad acting last week i was wondering when the scene end Log in to Reply Jardo November 18, 2010 I have watched OLTL for over 40 years and have seen it at its best and worst. Right now, it is in one of its “worst” phases, and isn’t showing any signs of improvement. This scene was a prime example of it. They dump a quality and very realistic storyline like Kish, and give us a bunch of buff, beefcake Ken dolls because they think THAT is what people want to watch. NOT! OLTL is now nothing more than a watered-down newer version of Beverly Hills 90210. Starr (Kristen Alderson) was an incredible little actress when she was a young child on this show, sometimes out-acting many of the adults in scenes. I don’t know what has happened to her, but she is a “terrible” actress now and just leaves me cold. They totally ruined her character and everything she does now is “overacted” to the nth degree! She also needs to ditch all the heavy eye makeup because it just makes her look cheap and totally takes away from what a beautiful young woman she is!! She looks like a raccoon with all that black eye makeup on. Even last weeks scenes with Cole, Starr was really pushing it to try and make them look realistic, all to no avail. Brandon Buddy did a phenominal job and had the tears flowing down his face in those scenes. Even baby Hope did a better job crying than Starr did. All Starr could manage was to scrunch up her face and pucker up trying to make it look like she was crying, yet not one tear was shed. Her eyes didn’t even water!!! They should have at least done something to her to make her eyes water up because BB did Emmy-worthy work in that scene, and Kristen Alderson’s horrible attempt at crying just ruined it for him. Like I said, she was a much better actress as a child and was exceptionally good. I don’t know what happened, but she is absolutely “horrible” now. All of the teens on this show are horrible actors, except maybe Daniella. But then again, some just think she likes screaming at everyone rather than actually acting. Matthew is the only GOOD teen actor they have right now, and they are in the process of totally ruining his character! And OLTL wonders why their ratings suck so bad. Bring back Kish and put some realism into these soaps. They were the best storyline of any soap in several years. FV made a monumental error dumping them as it cost the show over 300,000+ viewers (most of whom never returned to the show) and they have been at the bottom of the ratings scale ever since! That’s the difference between “quality” acting and talented actors (Kish) vs. “quantity” no talent actors (Fords) who frankly all look just like my neighbor’s favorite “Ken” doll. And just as “plastic” too. At least Oliver looked like a “man” with his shirt off and not a shaved and waxed down Ken doll! Log in to Reply TV Gord November 18, 2010 Whether someone is a good or bad actor is really in the eye of the beholder, so I never really put much credibility into a statement like that. Then, when you devolve into the same old bring back Kish whining we’ve been reading since they left, the big “get over it” sign flashes over my head. Yes, I liked them, too. They’re gone. There are all sorts of characters from the past we’d all like to see back, but it’s not going to happen. Yes, yes, you’re all entitled to your opinions, but how many years is this going to go on? Constantly bringing it up on messages boards accomplishes nothing. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
