Log in to Reply Daniel St. John December 3, 2010 I am from the school of thought that believes there are only a handful of roles that cannot be recast and none of those are characters on B&B so I would be all for a recast Sally Spectra coming back home to raise a little hell. Jackie just doesn’t fill that void at all. Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 December 3, 2010 Daniel St. John, I respect your opinion, but I must respectfully disagree. Personallly, I believe that out of respect for the now-deceased Darlene Conley, it doesn’t seem appropriate for them to recast the role of Sally Spectra. I hold her (Ms. Conley) in the same regard as Anna Lee’s Lila, AMC’s Ruth Warrick (Phoebe) and DAYS’ Alice Reid (Alice). I feel that NONE of the above listed actors/characters are recastable. After playing such a dynamic character for so long, an actor and actress simply becomes synonymous with that character, and the audience rarely, if ever, accepts someone else coming in and trying to recreate that magic. I feel that Brad could just as easily create a NEW character and hire a dynamic actress, such as Elizabeth Hubbard to play her, but I think it’s best to leave Sally Spectra, and her legacy, offscreen, and when and if the time ever comes, the character needs to be laid to rest and memorialized accordingly. Long lost sister of Sally Spectra or something. I miss the good old days of the long drawn out cat fights, to bad Shela Cater those where really something. The Bell family sure miss the ball on that one loosing Kimberlyn Brown.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mFYwJz2oSk P.S. To DC. I really hate this captcha crap, they are hard to read. Log in to Reply henry007 December 3, 2010 I agree too, no one can replace Sally that’s why I said a long lost sister. I was wondering about that, if they ever address the character death? If not where is she spouse to be? They wrote out the whole family, I and I wish they can bring back Macy and Clarke, I know Macy’s been Dead, dead twice, but no one says dead on that show, Taylor been dead several times. And I miss Darla, was so sad when they killed her off, stopped watching the show for a while. I can’t stand Jackie either, my mom really hates her. Log in to Reply Daniel St. John December 3, 2010 I understand having a sentimental attachment to a performer but I just feel there is more story to be mined from having a recast Sally Spectra than would be available by creating a new character to be a Sally substitute. We have seen that it doesn’t work with the attempt to make Jackie and her fashion house into Spectra 2.0. You just don’t get the history that is there between the character of Sally and the other characters on the canvass that just would not be there with a newly created character. At the end of the day it is a show about fictional characters and aside from the Erica Kane’s of the soap world where the character and the actor playing the role are too intertwined, there are not many roles that cannot be played by more than one actor. And the recast wouldn’t stop B&B from doing a memorial episode dedicated to Darlene Conley but as the saying goes, “The show must go on” and I bet Ms Conley would probably hold that same opinion since she was a consummate professional.
