HomeTVSoap OperaGREAT GOD FROM ZION: Young and Restless Star Darius McCrary Accused of Beating Ex-Wife With a BELT! Jamey Giddens December 10, 2010 Soap Opera, The Young and The Restless 53 Comments TMZ is reporting The Young and the Restless star Darius McCrary has been ordered to stay at least 100 yards from his former wife Karrine Steffans, because according to the video vixen-turned-author, McCrary beat her with a belt in front of her son! According to the docs, Karrine claims McCrary "choked me from behind and beat me with a belt" during an argument in February … an attack allegedly witnessed by her 12-year-old son. Karrine claims McCrary struck again in November — choking her and shoving her into a car in front of a large crowd of people at the Sunset Marquis Hotel in L.A. Lord have mercy. I wonder what McCrary’s n**** Paul Rauch will have to say about these shenanigans? Photos by PR Photos 53 Responses AlistairCrane December 10, 2010 FIRE HIM NOW!!!!! Log in to Reply Nekeeta Borden December 10, 2010 Can this affect his job on the show? It’s not a good look to have an actor embroiled in a domestic violence dispute, especially since the big demographic for soaps is women. I like him as an actor, but his publicist must be shaking his or her damn head at all the boneheaded/ignorant/classless decisions that this guy continues to make!!! I guess it’s true what they say! Money can’t buy class!!!! Oh well……….. And of course they ain’t gonna fire him, Nekeeta. He kisses “Master Rauch’s” butt, as opposed to calling him out for being the racist, misogynist piece of BLEEP that he really is!!! Log in to Reply doctormo77 December 10, 2010 @Nekeeta Borden – Sony/Bells probably have some sort of clause build into their contracts for such cases. Teachers and other professionals have the same type of thing. I am sure if the backlash is too much, Y&R will give him the heave-ho! Darius is no Teflon Charlie! But he wasn’t!! And until he gets convicted of this, it’s hearsay. Plus, as Scooter Smith pointed out—- He had the best audition that this show had seen in years! Log in to Reply josser December 10, 2010 This is hearsay. It’s appalling that people are calling for McCrary to be fired without knowing all of the facts. McCrary may not be the best Malcolm but he does deserve the same kind consideration that anyone else would expect. McCrary is going through a nasty divorce. Is there any evidence or proof to support these claims? If he did assault her, did his ex-wife press? Was he arrested? What evidence is there? Are there sworn statements from witnesses? Just because someone is accused of something doesn’t make it so. As for McCrary being fired, look at another CBS TV star, Charlie Sheen. Sheen DID assault his current wife and has a LONG history of emotional and physical violence against the women in his life. After his recent arrest for HOLDING a KNIFE to his wife’s throat, CBS gave him a multi-million dollar raise in pay to star in “Two and a Half Men”! Just a month or so ago, Sheen went on a rampage in New York and held a woman prisoner in his hotel room. What happened to him? Was he fired or forced off his show? No. Log in to Reply tedew December 10, 2010 I certainly would not want most of you guys on any jury of mine. Remember innocent until proven guilty??? Log in to Reply prenest December 10, 2010 What….. And everytime he’s on screen the evidence just mounts Log in to Reply beans4metoo December 10, 2010 Nice point Josstheguy..it will be interesting to see if CBS applies the same rules to everyone or if it all boils down to money. Charlie Sheen and 2 1/2 men make CBS ALOT more money than Darius McCrary and Y & R. It will be interesting to see thats for sure. IF he is fired, I wonder would the same rules apply if it was Victor Braeden aka The Great Victor Newman? I personally feel that the same set of rules should apply to everyone and that every actor/actress should be subjected to a morals clause where some things just aren’t tolerated. These people are role models and lend their names and faces to charities, causes, etc. Certain behavior should simply not be tolerated. That said, Darius is innocent until proven guilty. But I agree, Darius should benefit from the same level a treatment Charlie Sheen receives. But this is the good U.S of A… where rules aren’t exactly applied fairly. Log in to Reply arielade December 10, 2010 Didn’t that guy from OLTL get fired for “allegations” of bad behavior?? He assaulted police officers I think and ended up in a psych ward, and then got fired on the spot. I don’t see how waiting for legal action to be taken in DM’s case is very fair. Domestic violence is typically very hard to prove because of the way our courts are set up, and that assumes the victims are even willing to come forward. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. And even if she is exaggerating her claims (which I don’t think she is) DM is no one I want to see as a love interest on a soap. He sucks as malcolm anyway. Watching him now just gives me the creeps! Log in to Reply pumpkin December 10, 2010 I always liked him on Family Matters. I just don’t like him on Y&R. It has nothing to do with the above report. I just find him boring as opposed to the show he did when he was a teenager. Never know what to believe. I think one of the reasons legitimate complaints from the women of these actors don’t get believed has to do with so many women looking for 15 minutes of fame. I have to admit I doubted Denise Richard’s story. I remember she was booted off DWTSs and she was not that bad. It is too bad for her she wasn’t on it now. After these charges from different women, I believe all Denise claimed at the time. Denise is trying to keep things on an even keel with him. Charlie is his own worst enemy. I have to admit I was wrong about Denise R. Log in to Reply josser December 10, 2010 Arielade, Where there’s smoke, there are also lynchings of innocent black men as the history of the USA proves. Where is the evidence in this case? The OLTL guy who was fired had a long history of problems on OLTL and on ATWT. OLTL had fired him but brought back to the show. He then went on a rampage and assaulted some people and a police officer. The OLTL actor had serious drug and mental health issues and OLTL bent over backwards to help him. McCrary has no history of on set issues like the OLTL actor. If McCrary is guilty of domestic violence, then a jury will put his butt in jail. It’s sad that people don’t believe in innocent until guilty and want to see someone’s life destroyed based on no clear evidence. Anytime you are perceived as threat to someone’s stacks, it’s curtains for you. Women, the target audience and largest percentage of Y&R viewers, won’t take kindly to an abuser. My mother gave me the tarring of my life at home afterwards. Never did that again. Damn, Darius, is all I really have to say. Log in to Reply josser December 10, 2010 Pumpkin, Charlie Sheen had a long history of violence against women prior to Denise Richards’ claims. Sheen is rich and white. The public and industry are willing to look the other way because Sheen makes them laugh or makes them a lot of money. Log in to Reply Jillian Bowe December 10, 2010 Scooter: THAT was damn funny! *ROTFLMAO!* Log in to Reply arielade December 10, 2010 josstheguy, I get what you are saying and you make valid points. But, your statement “If McCrary is guilty of domestic violence, then a jury will put his butt in jail” implies that people are routinely convicted of domestic violence, and that’s just not the case. It takes a TON of evidence to hold up a domestic violence case in court, and just like rape cases, the victim has to prove that the crime was committed. The accused does not have to prove that the crime was NOT committed. It’s a very hard line for battery victims to walk because there is so much shame and fear involved. And you are totally right about symbolic media “lynchings” of black men, I don’t disagree with you. But there are also simultaneous efforts to undermine and devalue black women as well, and we can’t remove a woman’s power any quicker than not believing her story of abuse when she is brave enough to come forward. Log in to Reply josser December 10, 2010 AlistairCrane, I may not be a fan of McCrary’s but I don’t want anyone losing a job because of an accusation of domestic violence. Anyone can make stuff up to slime an ex. Hello! Y&R has had a ton of stories of ex-lovers lying about each other or their exes’ lovers to hurt them. That happens in real life. Innocent people are framed and sent to death row because of lies, particularly if they are black. The New York Times just ran a story about a man 5 federal judges believe is innocent but is sitting on deathrow. The judges all believe that the police framed him. You can read the article here: http://nyti.ms/hdbJEh Domestic violence is awful. If he’s guilty, send him to jail. Fine. Dandy. But, lynch mob mentality is evil. He just has no class and the individual that stated that in an earlier post couldn’t have said it better. Money doesn’t buy class. Log in to Reply josser December 10, 2010 Arielade, I don’t disagree that domestic violence and rape are difficult to prove in court. Nor do I disagree that black women (frankly all women) face devaluation and denigration in our society. Again, Charlie Sheen can put a knife to a woman’s throat and get a MULTI-MILLION dollar raise from CBS. That says a lot about how little CBS and Sheen’s viewers care about women. Victims of violence deserve to be taken seriously. Their accusations should be investigated without bias by the justice system. However, the flip side is that not all accusations are true. It’s not a question of disbelieving the accuser as much as being fair. Is there proof? Could this be a lie? I just don’t believe that McCrary should be fired because of an accusation. Does McCrary have a history of domestic violence against women? Are there witness statements? If we allow people’s lives to be destroyed based on an accusation then no one is safe. Remember the Salem Witch Trials? Innocent women were falsely accused of witchcraft and were tortured and murdered by the state. More recently, we had the false accusations of rape made against members of the Duke University Lacrosse Team. A prostitute/stripper lied about being raped. Many people believed her. The team members had their lives destroyed. Finally, the truth came out and the woman finally admitted she lied only after damaging the reputations of the team members and her supporters. If the facts support the claims of McCrary’s wife, then let the police arrest him. Log in to Reply arielade December 10, 2010 josstheguy, you continue to take a very simple view of domestic violence. It is an incredibly complicated phenomenon, and the very few cases of false accusations get more press than the actual violence that does happen. That is not fair to women. You keep asking for facts: FACT: DM’s ex wife has been GRANTED a temporary restraining order from a JUDGE. The judge will not grant restraining orders with no proof!!! FACT: She has an upcoming court date to make the restraining order permanent, where she will once again have to have PROOF. FACT: She presented to the judge that she was beaten in front of her 12 year-old. Any decent judge would investigate that claim. This is not just rumors and allegations once the courts start handing out protective orders. Log in to Reply Jillian Bowe December 10, 2010 Toscanti you are speaking the truth… Everyone keeps forgetting the allegations against him aren’t new. She’s said this about him before. Just like Nathaniel Martson on OLTL, allegations kept coming up and when he showed out, he got the boot. Log in to Reply siomonstuart2003 December 11, 2010 Innocent until proven guilty, but what has he done as Malcolm? Nothing for me, not buying him as Malcolm or father to Lily or a brother to Neil. I think Darius is a good actor, under the right circumstances, but he has been on my ‘Ho, have a seat!!’ list since that interview that he did. I cannot BELIEVE that he conducted himself that way, and he should have known better than to go on a syndicated radio program and show his lack of sense to MILLIONS of listeners. The N-word should not be used by ANYONE, in ANY form or connotation. Adding an “a” to the end of it and trying to laugh it off as a term of endearment just doesn’t fly with me. And he used it at least 3 dozen times in the span of that 45 minute interview, among other ‘IDIOTISMS’. Besides, Maria isn’t writing for him ANYWAY, so why not just send the character back to parts unknown so that Maria can go back to doing what she does best—NOT WRITING FOR BLACK FOLKS???? Log in to Reply josser December 11, 2010 arielade, I have a very nuanced view of domestic violence. What Jamey didn’t mention in his post is that Karrine Steffens’ has a history of lying about McCrary, claiming he tried to hurt her. In one incident, Steffens said that McCrary tried to run her over with his car but video showed that she jumped on his car in a fit of rage. You can read about that here and see photos of the incident: http://bit.ly/O6cXv So, again, that’s why I say this whole thing needs to dealt with by the justice system and not based on accusations. Log in to Reply marknsprmo December 11, 2010 I hope justice prevails no matter which person is the culpret. Until He is found guilty of something, I hope Y&R keeps out of it. They have put up with his acting all this time now and if they fire him, it will look badly upon him. If he is innocent of the charges, then he should go on as usual. Alot of gold diggers make up stuff when they have to. We do not know this woman or what she is capable of or who her lawyer is. I did notice “turned author” in her title. That imediately makes me think there is more to this story than what has been reported. If she is trying to dig up some publicity for a book or trying to wrestle up her next gig, her alligations should be as critically viewed from both angles. Log in to Reply angrierblackerman December 11, 2010 I admit Supahead is really annoying, and I bet she probably taunts him, but that is NEVER an excuse to beat up a woman…and in front of your child no less. It’s more than appalling Log in to Reply thecourt99 December 13, 2010 I am still withholding judgment on this particular item…however I want to chime in on the Charlie Sheen stuff. Show business is all about money…however it is the viewers that seem to not care what Charlie Sheen does. CBS wouldn’t offer the money if viewers weren’t still watching in droves. We already have a recent example in Chris Brown. He was publicly flogged for what he did with Rihanna (and rightfully so), but he served his time and still catches flack. Yet….Charlie Sheen’s character in his show was CREATED around the life of Charlie Sheen, warts and all. Didn’t Don Cornelius go to jail for spousal abuse too? Not sure how fair that is…because not many people really know who he is. I am sure that there are other examples that I can’t think of right now. Log in to Reply mdgirlie December 13, 2010 I don’t condone any type of abusive behavior, but please everyone look into this woman before judging Darius McCrary. I was up late at night having contractions and I caught this documentary about the lady subject of the abuse on Showtime. Her name is Karrine Stephans, and she is known to be a big time liar, to push her fame and status. The documentary was called “Kiss and Tail: The Hollywood Jump-Off”. This woman is a writer, pornographer, and just utterly disgusting. Darius was in this documentary and stated how this woman treated him, and how everyone that saw him with her told him that she would ruin his life…well looks like she’s doing just that. This man doesn’t have a violent history, so this should be a big suprise. This woman is seriously sick. Her nickname is “Superhead”, for being talented at felatio, so this should really tell you something about this woman.
