HomeTVCBSEric Braeden on Neil Patrick Harris: “He’d Better Not Cross My Path” Jillian Bowe December 18, 2010 CBS, How I Met Your Mother, News, The Young and The Restless 25 Comments Eric Braeden isn’t letting How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris’ tweet bother him. Entertainment Weekly spoke to The Young and the Restless’ actor about the tweet heard around the Internet, concerning Braeden passing on reprising his role on HIMYM. I really don’t know who that fellow is. He’s a guy who stars in that series,” Braeden told EW, laughing. “It’s very unfortunate. First of all, I came back from hip surgery. I was off for three weeks. I’ve doubled my work, 30 to 50 pages a day for me, alone. Everyone knows that I’m exhausted. I was not about appear on a show for two lines, because that’s what it amounted to.” Braden went on to issue a warning to Harris stating: “If he is a worthy adversary, he’d better not cross my path. I will let bygones be bygones.” Photo by PR Photos. 25 Responses jlafferty23 December 18, 2010 LOL. I love Eric Braeden! Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 December 18, 2010 Awwww suki suki now………. I can understand him not wanting to go through all that hassle just for two lines, considering the fact that he just had surgery and is probably still in a lot of pain, but we all know that Eric is a moody ballbuster who has unrealistic expectations and a God complex!! But I still happen to think that he could beat Neil’s (BLEEP!) with one hand tied behind his back. Neil had better hire a bodyguard. It’d be a shame for him to catch a beatdown from a 200-year old man!!!!!  Log in to Reply othell December 18, 2010 YOU GOT THAT DOOGIE?! Log in to Reply babyc December 18, 2010 Oh right, he had surgery, I completely forgot that! Damn, now that makes me be on EB’s side. He is an ass, but can’t blame the guy for not wanting to work after that. :/ Log in to Reply TicToc238 December 18, 2010 LOL, Eric B is a “G”. HAHAHA You know his theme song is Runaway by Kanye West. “Let’s have a toast for the douchebags, Let’s have a toast for the assholes, Let’s have a toast for the scumbags, Every one of them that I know Let’s have a toast for the jerkoffs That’ll never take work off Baby, I got a plan Run away fast as you can….” you better run NPH! HAHA Log in to Reply pennywise555 December 18, 2010 Why is Neil Patrick Harris even commenting on EB, is he the producer of the show? Has he ever been on a soap and realize how much work it is compared to a half hour sitcom once a week? I think it was awful for NPH to say anything. I guess he feels superior since he’s on prime-time and EB is daytime. Are the daytime actors supposed to bark and roll over when prime time calls and asks them to. Good for EB telling that egotistical jerk off. NPH should apologize he was rude and out of line!. Log in to Reply AlistairCrane December 18, 2010 Good for NPH for telling off that egotistical jackass Eric Braeden. I wish he had left Y&R for good last fall. I’m also surprised Braeden didn’t respond by calling NPH a “f****t”…I wouldn’t put it past the Moustache to do such a thing. I’m just fiercely protective of our show. Log in to Reply appleridge December 18, 2010 Look EB As It Seems To Me Was More Concerned About Only Getting Two lines & Only Used His Surgery As An Excuse. EB agreed to do it then backed out. NPH can be upset & Call Him Out. Its unprofessional to back out after agreement. He Should Have asked about the script before hand if he was concerned about it Log in to Reply Llanview76 December 18, 2010 It seems the YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS cast has always been stuck on themselves. It’s kind of pathetic. Erik Log in to Reply josser December 18, 2010 AlistairCrane, Why would you think Braeden is homophobic? If you read anything about the man’s politics or past, you’d know that he is very liberal. Frankly, given the fact Braeden is recovering from hip surgery, why is it so difficult to understand that he might find it exhausting to balance his Y&R responsibilities with another show? He obviously is having mobility and pain issues. Every one is willing to dump on Braeden without considering the fact that he had a valid reason to decline the offer. Log in to Reply dkp December 18, 2010 I just want to know what do we call this little feud between NPH and EB. D-Bag Gate? LOL Log in to Reply appleridge December 18, 2010 Joss The Issue For Me Is That He Accepted and than bailed the day before shooting Log in to Reply TV Gord December 18, 2010 He didn’t decline the offer. He agreed to do it and then backed out at the last minute. That is unprofessional and douchey behavior, and NPH has every right to call him on it, the way EB inconvenienced the entire cast and crew with his prima donna attitude. And yes, he’s just using his surgery as an excuse. Those piddly two lines would have brought him wider exposure than his own show does. It’s about time someone calls this jackass on his behavior. Log in to Reply capwell December 18, 2010 Exactly….If he knew he was still incapacitated from the surgery, he should not have agreed to appear on the show…Eric Braeden is indeed a DOUCHEBAG. Witness the snarky comment about not knowing who Neil Patrick Harris, Doogie Howser and the guy who gets tons of publicity for being openly gay and for hosting tons of awards shows last year, is. He also seems annoyed about only having two lines. It’s because he’s able to hold TPTB at Y&R hostage that he’s completely unable to deal with NPH’s reality check. Eric’s ego is out of all proportion to who he really is in the grand scheme of things. I really don’t get people who are defending him. Irregardless, EB should not have booked this gig if he knew he was going to be in pain from hip replacement surgery in the first place. He only has himself to blame for that snafu! Log in to Reply Restless Vixen December 18, 2010 After hearing both sides, both of them seem to be suffering a bit from ego. While I can understand why EB decided not to do the guest spot, I hate when people commit then renege at the last minute. EB does come off like he’s stuck on himself. But still, crap happens and sometimes you might do something that leaves people in a lurch at the last minute. And while I can understand NPH being upset at the last minute cancellation, that was an assy move to post something on Twitter. Funny as hell, but unprofessional. It makes Neil Patrick Harris look like the immature “young punk” Eric Braeden is portraying him as in his rebuttal. I do give Eric Braeden credit for not resorting to name calling But on the real, both of these bitches need to hug it out Ari Gold style Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 December 18, 2010 Eric Braeden did an interview with SOW back in 2005 in which he got pissed off with a female journalist who was TAKING HIS PICTURE without his knowledge or permission (as if that’s the FIRST time that’s ever been done before in the history of print media???? :crown: :crown: ) He told that woman that if she weren’t a female he’d pull her out of the car and beat the sh*t out of her!!! He then proceeded to use every other expletive under the sun in that interview that I am sure the editor had a great old time with that story!! Eric Braeden is a loose cannon who thinks that b/c he’s been acting since before the Earth was cooling and he’s a hot commodity in the world of daytime that he can say anything that he wants to. But at other times, he is the complete opposite– charming, well-spoken and even downright sweet!!!!! The man is truly a bundle of contradictions!! To quote old Forrest Gump, “Ya’ never know whatcha gunna get”……….. Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 December 18, 2010 Matealestimo– LOL!! Neil’s probably got a plastic surgeon on speed dial for ‘special occasions’ such as these……….or 12!!!!  Log in to Reply rebecca December 18, 2010 Eric Braden is a IDIOT! He is NOT as good at acting as he thinks he is & should have been FIRED from Y & R YEARS ago! NPH is doing him a FAVOR by calling him a DB! EB is the lowest form of human being there is. Log in to Reply thecourt99 December 18, 2010 First off…he is old. Then he is recovering from surgery. So i can completely understand it having to be significant to go through the effort of doing the part considering his age, surgery, and overall tiredness. People focus on the fact that EB agreed first…but ignore the fact that HIMYM didn’t tell him what the spot entailed. Sounds like there were communication issues on both ends. Log in to Reply TV Gord December 18, 2010 My, my EB fans sure are bending over backwards to make excuses for his unprofessional behavior. First, his reason for bailing was that the part wasn’t substantial enough. Then, when NPH called him on his BS, all these other excuses get trotted out. None of them excuse why he waited until the last minute to drop out, inconveniencing an entire cast and crew of a TV show. He’s a jerk, and all of the excuses just make him seem to be more of a jerk. Log in to Reply Dariclone December 18, 2010 Isn’t it intresting that at first EB said he love the cast and that “he thought they were one of the warmest casts he’s ever seen” and know he claims not to know who NPH is? Uh, those two things don’t add up. To Me it’s not so much that he backed out of the role as the reasoning behind it. If he had said “I’m sorry but I’m stil recuperating from surgery.” that would be one thing, but he originally said he was backing out of the role because it was too small! He’s done this show before so he should know what the role would entail. Backing out of any role because of it’s size is considered very unproffesional behaviour for actors and if EB was any less well known he wouldn’t get away undamaged. Log in to Reply tedew December 19, 2010 I stand by this, my original comment in the original thread: Hans Gudegast as John Jacob Astor in Titanic (1997). Mr. Astor sent down with the ship in 1912. Too bad Mr. Gudegast didn’t try out some method acting, then we’d be free of him! Mr. Gudegast also has a credit listing in IMDB as Bruce Ismay in The Titanic Chronicles (1999). Unfortunately, Mr. Ismay did not go down with his ship. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
