One Life To Live's Carmen LoPorto OUT!

Oh say it ain't so! According to Soap Opera Digest, One Life to Live's scene stealer Carmen LoPorto has been let go. The magazine said that the actor broke the news via Facebook, stating:

"I got a call this week that they SORAS'ed Jack and I am no longer a member of the Manning Family. It's been fun and an experience that I will never forget. Thank You All Again. Here's to bigger and better things to come in 2011."

For now, the show has not released who will take over the role. Not for nothing, but in my humble opinion, this is a silly move on OLTL's part. Little Carmen can act circles around some on that show, who shall remain nameless, and can steal some of onscreen dad Trevor St. John's thunder in certain scenes.

Perhaps they'll make him older than Dani which technically he is by several years. Of course, then he would be older than Starr which we all know he's not. Actually Dani is sort-of the age that Jack is supposed to be. And Dani should be many years younger than what she is portraying. Sad to loose such a talented young actor!

Is OLTL crazy??

What a dumb move.

So disappointed. I love Carmen as Jack. If they wanted to make him older than Dani, they should have done it last year when Dani came on.

HUGE mistake. He should have been allowed to age gracefully the way Starr and Matthew had. I was looking forward to Carmen taking on Todd as he gets older. What a shame.

Oh GREAT IDEA!!
As much as I want to see Drew back at GH as Michael, I would love to see him as Jack Mannning opposite of Trevor St John, that would be FIRE!!

This just makes me sad. For some reason, I had a feeling this was coming sooner rather than later, but I was still not prepared for it to happen this quickly. He was without a doubt my favorite kid actor/character. Whoever fills the role, no matter what age has extremely large shoes to fill. I have no idea how they would work Drew Garrett in the role seeing as how he is older than KA and KM; but, if Ron and Frank can somehow work some of that magic that they do so well and make him fit believably, then that would make this negative into a huge positive. If not, then the casting people had better pull a rabbit out of a hat and find a teenage(ish) actor to play the son of TSJ and KDP's Todd and Blair.

I wish Carmen much success and I am eager to see where he ends up next.

I always enjoyed Jack and Todd scenes. What a huge mistake on the part of OLTL.

Good luck, Carmen.

I like Drew but he cant be Jack. He'd be older than Starr.

Sucks I liked the actor. he was amazing.

So sad. He was, by far, the future of the Manning clan.

2 days ago I was thinking how nice it is to have Jack "grow" in front of us. What a shame.

Jessica Simpson could steal thunder from Trevor St. John these days. If he cared any less he'd snore through his scenes.

Jack only shows up a few times a year to make smart-aleck remarks and leer at Tea, then vanishes again. But I'd still rather have that than the same casting that gave us the Fords.

Awe NO not my Jack. He was such a cutie & very witty too in some scenes. I especially liked him with TSJ! OLTL is going to have a big task of finding someone to play Todd & Blair's aged son (much like Sonny & Carly's kids). However I have NO doubt that the best daytime casting guy will be able to pull it off... Mark Tescner.

If Mark Tescner is doing the casting you can best believe the new Jack will have a killer set of abs.

BOOO. i suppose it makes sense to have the actor be as old as jack should be, but carmen was so great in this role. that kid has a bright future ahead of him.

I hate when they over age children on soaps. Kids born in 99 should not be 17 years old. They should be 11. Jack was also born in 01 I believe! Which should make him 9..anyways I enjoyed watching Starr grow up on the show- I wish they would allow Jack to do the same.. He's such a clever lil smart @$$..I LOVE IT!!! also I agree with Carol2 I am getting bored of Todds lack of Todd, There are so many times I expected him to do SOMETHING about situations and he didn't do anything. Todd was always a character who was passionate about the people he cared about and would fight the world for them. Even when sometimes it got him into trouble. It started going down hill when he tried to take his own daughters baby and leave her to believe she was dead.. after he sits talkn about how badly he felt for hurting Marty and how he changed- The only thing that's changed is he's boring and annoying anymore!

well, this is a dumb-ass idea! I agree with what others have said...they should have kept him and let him age like the Alderson kids. If they were going to age him, it should have been done when DanYELLa came on the show...now it looks like a lame afterthought.

I sometimes wonder what kind of glue they sniff at OLTL. They have just gotten so much better (with the exception of a couple of Ford family members) and now they take away the best comic relief next to David Vickers Sad

Well that sucks. Jack was pretty funny when he was on but it was very few and far between. I wish the actor good luck though. I can only hope whoever they cast in his place is worth it. Does this also mean they're planning on SORASing Sam too? They just brought in a new kid for the X-mas episode and I thought he was adorable.

Also, they really don't need another teenager/young adult on this show tbh. The only two worth watching are Starr (possibly James if they can break him away from the other Fords) & Matthew. No one cares about Nate or Dani and though I like Destiny and even Darren they don't seem to be much of a priority. Not to mention there are plenty of other stories and characters that have been keeping this show going pretty well. If they're going to bring to make that kind of a drastic character change they might want to weed out a few that no one wants (Inez & Kelly are the first two that easily come to mind. And of course Langston & Ford, and as much as I like David Fumero, there is just no reason for Christian to be part of the cast anymore. He has absolutely no ties to anyone and is not even a tiny bit connected to any story).

I was just thinking that Carmen and the actor plays Shane are now in that awkward-ish stage of adolescence (cue Peter Brady), but that I was glad they were both still in the roles and maybe they could develop a rivalry between those two as they start feeding into Llanview High.

What a disappointment. Carmen was great in his scenese. Get thee to the Disney channel kid.

How stupid to get rid of him. He is a terrific actor and they should have just let his character age as he did.

This is a stupid move by the show and a loss to viewers... Carmen was always entertaining and funny and it would have been interesting to watch him grow up the way Kristen & Eddie Alderson have. OLTL has squandered a great opportunity by letting him go

Wishing bigger and better things for Carmen whatever he does next

This is so weird. My mum and were watching the Christmas episode and commenting how amazing little Jack was. Then I said something like with the amount of screentime they give him they're probably getting ready to SORAS him. Pleas tell me I didn't put this out there in the Universe!
