Is Regis Having Regrets About Leaving Live With Regis And Kelly?

Is Regis Philbin experiencing a little bit of remorse over his decision to not take a pay cut and leave Live With Regis and Kelly, later this year? According to Pop Eater, the offers for other work he anticipated haven’t been coming in as expected.

"He’s 79, and everyone knows TV is a young person’s game. What was he thinking? I’m sure he looked at how the public has welcomed back Kathie Lee [Gifford, his old co-star] on ‘Today’ and assumed they would do the same for him. But as of now, he hasn’t had any great offers."

The show needs new blood; someone who doesn’t think the punchline to every joke is to shout it! He can’t be gone soon enough for me as I’ve never been a fan of his and only tolerate watching the show because of Kelly.

Time to cash in the chips Reg, the show is getting dull, talking about the same thing every morning. I like Sam Champion or Anderson Cooper, would be a good choice. Need someone more hip more with it. Someone who can keep up with Kelly.

Sam Champion is too artificial for me and Anderson Cooper already has a daytime talk show starting this fall. I hope they go for someone who’s a virtual unknown to join Kelly.

I’ve always enjoyed Regis, but come on. He’s going to be 80 this year. Did he really think anyone is going to gamble on giving him a new show? I wish he would leave with a bit more dignity. I think he made a mistake coming out the next day and saying just because he’s leaving Live doesn’t mean he’s retiring. Even if he wanted to keep working, he should have left the impression that he was retiring and then wait to see whether anyone would be begging him to come back. This way, it just seems sad. This is not the way to end a career as illustrious as his.

The show still has a lot to offer…if he is truly having regrets…well man up & say you have had a change of heart …if the doubt is just a product of the rumor mill (talk about getting old)…let him reinvent the show & change it up a bit…or simply just retire and enjoy those beautiful grandchildren you were blessed with…Betty White is 89 & still going strong!
