Well I'll be a rabbit's chopped off foot! Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo (Brenda)proved she's still got it this past week on General Hospital. Her previous return stint (2002-03) saw 800,000 viewers come back, now, the ratings deets are in and 417,000 total viewers were gained by GH the week of Feb. 21-25. (Source: Soap Opera Network) Hallelujah, praise Soap Jesus and tell Tori Spelling don't nobody wanna watch her over their morning bagel, 'cause soaps they are 'a saved! Okay, not quite, but it sure felt good to type that.

The wedding storyline for one of daytime's most popular couples of all time, Brenda and Sonny (Maurice Benard), coupled with all the buzz surrounding the return of Franco (James Franco), helped GH go up a staggering four-tenths of a ratings point in households!!! I haven't seen this kind of an increase in a long, long time.  GH also went up two-tenths of a point among women 18-49 and one-tenth of a point among women 18-34. Okay, Guza, OUT-FREAKING-STANDING!!!!!!! Now how are you gonna convince La Giovinazzo to stay? Personally, I think someone should give Laura Wright a pay increase. While Brenda and Sonny's magic is still apparent at times, Carly brings the FIYA day in/day out. Just sayin...

Elsewhere on the Mouse House dial, One Life to Live went up an impressive 187,000 total viewers over the previous week. OLTL gained two-tenths of a point in households, and one-tenth of a point among women 18-49 and women 18-34 respectively. Looks like all the shenanigans those lusty Buchanan twins and their beaux are pulling are paying off for Llanview!

All My Children showed impressive numbers as well the week in question. AMC went up 155,000 total viewers, and inched up one-tenth of a ratings point in households and among women 18-49. The news wasn't so great among women 18-34, as the sudser tied it's all-time low in that demo for the second straight week. AMC is becoming more enjoyable for me by the day. I am loving Kendall (Alicia Minshew) trying to put together the pieces of Zach's (Thorsten Kaye) death. I can't wait for Griffin (Jordi Vilasuso) to provide her heart with one helluva horizontal stress test! Or they could do it froggy style if he would prefer; I ain't particular, and neither is Kendall...

Speaking of low down, dirty positions, CBS Daytime's The Young and the Restless didn't have such a hot week. While Y&R only lost a paltry 18,000 total viewers and held steady in households, the soap hit an all-time low in viewership for women 18-49. Y&R also tied their all-time low in the demo for W18-49, and hit a new all-time low among women 18-34. If there's one thing soap insiders have drilled into my head, it's that all Madison Avenue cares about is demos, so it looks to me like Maria Arena Bell has some serious 'splainin' to do!

Story-wise, I am enjoying Y&R again, go figure! The arbitration has been soapy goodness, corporate drama at it's best, and the Neil/Sofia (Kristoff St. John and Julia Pace Mitchell) pairing has me intrigued. I guess viewers are ticked about Cane's (Daniel Goddard) death though.

I have to admit, killing Cane—if he's really dead, 'cause I ain't convinced—was a dumb move. The Cane and Lily (Christel Khalil) pairing may not be my cup of rubbing alcohol, but they are very popular in the very demos Y&R is currently hurting in.

I am actually enjoying Lily reconnecting with Daniel (Michael Graziadei). Lily and Daniel were 10 times the couple Cane and Lily have been. I would have liked to have seen Cane paired with a woman his own age, like Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) or Cricket (Lauralee Bell), not that I mind May/December pairings, hello Mac and Rachel fan here, but Khalil still looks so young and untouched that it's always sorta skeeved me out to see her with a man who was alive when Nixon was in the White House.

Y&R's sister sudser, The Bold and the Beautiful went up 136,000 total viewers over the week. B&B also went up one-tenth of a point in households, yet tied it's all-time low rating among women 18-49. B&B was also dead last in total viewers 18-49 and hit a new low in that ranking. Things weren't much better for Brad Bell among women 18-34, as B&B tied their all-time low in that demo for the third straight week. Jinkies!

Like Y&R, B&B is enjoyable right now on the story tip, in my opinion. Thomas (Adam Gregory) and Dayzee (Kristolyn Lloyd) are cute, although I was sure hoping he would mount Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and ride her across the beaches of Malibu. I get Dollar Bill's (Don Diamont) murderous rage at Amber (Adrienne Frantz), though I do wish he would remember she's got a future SORAS victim on board!

I say it's high-time for a visit from Crazy Nurse Sheila (Kimberlin Brown); that would spike B&B's numbers for sure! Who cares if she died on Y&R? I'm sure Brad can undo Lynn Marie Latham and his sister-in-law's ridonkulous storytelling for one of daytime's best villains some how. Though Brad, no more Militia Leader Sheila....

Seriously, the Bells really have to figure out how to attract more eyeballs in their key demos, or at least try to convince the advertising industry that people still buy soap, tissue and vaginal cream after the age of 49. While they're at it, why not look at all the men who watch these shows and figure out a way to monetize those eyeballs? I know, I know, women buy the majority of consumer goods for the home, but not all of us live in homes with women folk, so we have to buy our own itch cream!

Why not partner with Procter & Gamble's Old Spice brand to do viral spots, TV, web and print commercials featuring Michael MuhneyJoshua MorrowAdam Gregory, Brandon Beemer, Scott Clifton and Don Diamont alongside Isaiah Mustafa? Better yet, Y&R or B&B could cast him in a cameo spot. Forget that weirdo pilot from The Bachelor, the Old Spice guy would kill on a soap! Maybe he could be Sofia's brother, a famous male model, who comes to Genoa City for a visit and ends up on the cover of Restless Style, all lathered up between Sharon (Sharon Case) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford)? Just throwin' out ideas!

NBC's Days of Our Lives went up 187,000 total viewers over the previous week. DAYS went up two-tenths of a point in households and among women 18-49. The sudser also boasted a one-tenth of a point gain among women 18-34. I've made no secret I find DAYS abominable these days. In fact, as of this week, I have stopped watching it all together. I refuse to waste valuable brain cells as I race through my 30's on another effing, dumbass doppelganger storyline when I could be watching Shameless on Showtime.

Once Rafe's (Galen Gering) clone is gone I will tune back in. Memo to Ken Corday: You keep saying you want to get back to the basics of family drama. Please prove it. Fire Dena Higley and hire someone who doesn't write to the dumbest common denominator. Salutations!
