In reponse to the news Hoover has decided to pull their ads from ABC starting April 22, over the cancellations of All My Children and One Life to Live, an anonymous executive at the alphabet network spoke with TV Guide's Michael Logan. According to the exec:
Usually advertisers stop advertising when they want to cancel a show, not the other way around. We've said that the cancellation of AMC and OLTL was about money and ratings, so [the Hoover boycott] is just counterintuitive. You don't save something by taking money away.
I guess it was "counterintuitive" when advertisers yanked their spots on Fox News in response to Glenn Beck, huh?
