I guess Lisa never read, He's Just Not That Into You.. Watch the promo after the jump! 33 Responses alstonboy4315 June 13, 2011 Lisa is one of the WORST “villainesses” that I have seen on daytime in a LONG time. The sooner she kicks rocks, the better. I can’t take much more of her cartoonish lurking and cheesy one liners like “Payback’s a bitch.” She reminds me of a REALLY crappy “Lifetime” movie. Can’t wait until she’s off my screen!!! Log in to Reply bishbay June 13, 2011 I feel like GH could have someone holding a towel on a gunshot wound as its promo still like, every week. Log in to Reply J Bernard Jones June 13, 2011 God, I love Looney Lisa! She harkens to back so many terrific cray-cray nutjobs of daytime past — AW’s Janice Frame, EON’s Winter Austen, to name a few! And Miss Brianna Brown, has played her to the hilt, through terribly inconsistent writing. I wish she didn’t have to go. ::sniff:: Log in to Reply JAQ June 13, 2011 So is this finally her last Hurrah?? Or is there more?? Log in to Reply GHdoolFan June 13, 2011 IMO Lisa has been a a good addition to the cast. Yeah it should have ended the last time she had a meltdown, but I guess this will be a good break from the same 5 conversations that happen on every episode of GH for the last month. Brianna Brown has nailed this character. I think this is it for her and its a shame. She was backed far into a corner though. Oh well it was good while it lasted. Scrubs really needed Lisa. She was a break from the very boring nothingness they had going on for far too long. Log in to Reply jphelps June 13, 2011 Lisa is a villian that outlived her usefulness months ago. GH pulls this crap all the time. they bring in someone for a storyline fall in love with the actor and try to retrofit them into the show and it NEVER works. Jerry Jax anyone( and i don’t care how good the actor is) Lisa needs to go period. Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 June 13, 2011 I grew up on WONDERFULLY WRITTEN villainesses such as GL’s Annie Dutton, Y&R’s Sheila Carter, DAYS’ Kristen Dimera and AMC’s Janet Green, all of whom were not only written complexly and multi-dimensionally but also played by actresses who were charismatic and engaging. I guess I am spoiled, but I expect a villainess to do more than hide in the shadows and cut up pictures of someone. And I also don’t think that Brianna Brown is that well-rounded of an actress. Certainly not enough to make this character likable or worth rooting for. And GH has proven that they can write interesting villainesses in the past, which they did with the BRILLIANT Faith Roscoe, played magnificently by Cynthia Preston. So there’s no excuse for them to fall so flat with this character. They could have and should have done better. I apologize to those of you who like Brianna, but I simply don’t see what all the hype is about. Log in to Reply Camp is not a sustainable model June 14, 2011 @alstonboy4315: That’s because those Villains had more character-driven motives behind who they were and why they reacted the way they did to life. They were the villains you rooted for. You wanted them to get caught, but not get in too much trouble because the havoc they caused drew you in. You in some ways felt their pain. So they don’t make villains like they use too. These days they come with flimsy reasoning’s at best and are mostly written from a plot-driven point of view. You know how some characters always go bad when they are being written off, but if they were staying they’d be good as gold. Don’t like that. When storylines were written from a character-driven point of view we came up with lovely villains. Now the University of Evil just accepts anyone. They don’t even make them take the E.A.T. and graduate sub-par villains that wouldn’t even scare a fly. It’s like they get their degrees online or something. How you gonna fill villainous roles when you got that to work with? UE alumni Cesar Faison, Allistir Crane, Asa Asa Buchanan and Annie Dutton are turning over in their graves. Log in to Reply soapy opie June 14, 2011 So, do you think Lisa will STILL be able to all throw the blame on Robin?? Remember, the Port Charles police department will fall for ANYTHING. lol Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 June 14, 2011 David46208- I agree that much of the blame for Lisa being so damned unlikable and boring has to do with the writing, but not all of it. I simply feel that Brianna Brown is not a compelling actress, simply not as compelling as actresses like Sarah Brown, Constance Towers, Kimberlin Brown, Cynthia Watros and Robin Mattson. It takes two, you know. I am sure she’s trying, and she’s not doing a BAD job, but she’s not knocking it out of the park enough to incite anything in me other than yawns!!! Log in to Reply Camp is not a sustainable model June 14, 2011 She and Yvonne Zima studied together. The last time daytime had a really good young Villain who knocked it out of the park every time was Sarah Michelle Geller as the one and only Kendall on AMC. I haven’t really saw one since that had what it takes to be that dastardly bad woman that makes these characters so compelling. I think Lisa follows Christel Hensley rules on acting. She just “reads lines.” But she would have been a hit on Passions! LoL Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 June 14, 2011 David 46208 , I usually agree with you, but I don’t think that Sarah Michelle Gellar was the LAST good villainess/actress to hit daytime. I can name at least half a dozen others off the top of my head. Are you telling me that Sarah was better than Cynthia Watros, Constance Towers, Eileen Davidson, Cynthia Preston and Marj Dusay?? I don’t think so, my friend. Now don’t get me wrong; Sarah Michelle Gellar was a BAD bitch, but not the baddest of the 90s…….. I like and respect you, but couldn’t disagree with you more on this one. Log in to Reply Camp is not a sustainable model June 14, 2011 @alstonboy4315: I was referring to the young ones. Not the one’s in their 30’s and above. Sarah M. was a young villain at that time around 18 or so. We haven’t from where I stand had a young villain come up that was good since she was around. As for the rest they were great. Log in to Reply sunnydays25 June 14, 2011 God, I loved Cynthia Watros…Anniw was defintely koo-koo for coco puffs but she was always entertaining and had depth, which is definitely missing in Lisa. I will not be sad to see her go…I’m hoping she takes Brenduh with her!! Log in to Reply J Bernard Jones June 14, 2011 SMH … as usual. Log in to Reply josser June 14, 2011 GL’s Annie Dutton started out as a heroine. Her descent into madness was tragic. It wasn’t comical. Log in to Reply J Bernard Jones June 14, 2011 Weirdly enough, I was JUST thinking that very thing, Joss. Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 June 14, 2011 Josstheguy– I agree it was tragic, but Cynthia played the HELL out of it, and I found it to be very realistic and emotionally gripping. You should empathize with a good villainess, not hate her or simply want her to disappear. Annie Dutton was the epitome of that, for me. Tortured heroine who simply wanted to be loved, yet lost her way in the process. I am sure that your comments weren’t directed at me, but I simply wanted to clarify my position. It is just too much lunacy in too small a space. Those scenes today with Ludicrous Lisa in a black wig (looking as if she had suddenly gone goth)were fast forwardable to the nth degree. Let’s just move it along y’all there’s nothing to see here. Log in to Reply tealita June 14, 2011 Comparing Lisa Niles to Faith Roscoe is like comparing Karpov to Lorenzo Alcazar. Lisa is one of those, “bad guys,” (now that I think about it Niles is a little too masculine, which was part of the the turn off) that they throw in there just to give the good guys something to do. I wasn’t absent the day they gave Lisa dialogue or complex motivation necessary for me to have conflicted feelings about her character, or find her redeemable. There wasn’t any. Come on, this is SCRUBS we’re talking out. Besides, how can you feel conflicted over that kind of s/l? Yucky, and yucky again once Johnny got stuck with her. All in all, I think BBr did a decent job: folks loved to hate her. One thing I would love to know is, whose decision it was to make her hair look like holy h*ll most of the time. That was really effective. Log in to Reply tealita June 14, 2011 Comparing(IMHO) Lisa Niles to Faith Roscoe is like comparing Karpov to Lorenzo Alcazar. She’s no Kimberlin Brown, but she’s NOT that bad, lol! I thought she was a solid actress. I still want her to crush the boring scrubs. Can’t stand whiny Robin and her boring husband. BLAH! :Sp Log in to Reply GHteenybopper June 14, 2011 Can we have one story where Jason doesn’t save the day… Log in to Reply Dyllan June 14, 2011 Oh and if Lisa kills Spinelli, that girl deserves a medal and is automatically redeemed, IMO. OMG, I can’t stand that annoying twit. He’s far from cute or funny. Log in to Reply Spooks19 June 14, 2011 GHteenybopper – “Can we have one story where Jason doesn’t save the day…” Yeah, I was wondering why this promo seems to be so much about Jason and Spinelli when they’ve had zero to do with this Lisa storyline. The big problem with Lisa is that she was kept around too long. I think the first 8 or so months she was on, she was annoying, and then for 2 months she was fun, and then for the 8 months after that until now she was annoying again. As for Brianna Brown, I think she was very good at playing delusional but she’s a little one note in that the scenes where they did try to give her pov, she couldn’t really do the layers (she is a bad fake crier), and she doesn’t come off as badass as someone like Cynthia Preston did as Faith. I think Guza did like Brianna and wanted to keep her around which is why he tried Lisa with Johnny, but I think that was her other problem, that she didn’t seem to spark with any of the guys they tested her with and on GH if you’re a non-Carly female character w/o a pairing, you have no story. The one similarity I would say Lisa has with Annie Dutton is that she is yet another women to go crazy over a guy, and most of the time I have no idea what is so great about these guys that would drive a woman to insanity if she couldn’t have them. I was never a big Josh fan, and Patrick Drake seems like an arrogant tool. Don’t even get me started on Marty Saybrooke going insane over John McBain of all people (even if Susan Haskell was awesome in that storyline). Log in to Reply liason4real June 14, 2011 Don’t even get me started on Marty Saybrooke going insane over John McBain of all people (even if Susan Haskell was awesome in that storyline). ===== lol. I ignored the “John” part of the s/l and enjoyed SH, GT and MA as Marty stabbed Kelly and tossed Natalie off the roof of the hotel all while running around with that “chick magnet” baby Liam Buchanan! Log in to Reply Spooks19 June 14, 2011 Also, didn’t GH just do a hospital hostage situation less than a year ago with Kiefer’s father? Not to mention, the year before we had toxic balls. That’s another big problem with GH, the storytelling is so repetitive. Log in to Reply Marezi June 14, 2011 Could it be we, the ones that dislike her and her story,we dislike her and this story because we never saw this great passion she had with Patrick. She just came to town and bam she was crazy. With Janet from another planet we saw her down ward spiral, with Faith we watched the whole story, with Sarah Michelle Gellar we saw the whole story and so on. Robin played Heather as one whacked out person but she was so entertaining. And I remember watching Kimberlin Brown on Y&R and she was just awesome but you knew and saw why she was doing what she did. Lisa was brought on and no rootability for her at all. She should have been written as rootable and then something triggers the “craziness”. I love the crazy characters and that is what Soaps are usually about but this was just written so badly. I remember I always hated Erica Kane on AMC becasue she was a nasty twit when it first started. Loved to hate Erica. Now if they would make Lulu, Alexis, Sam, Liz or Maxie go crazy and become this terror on wheels I would love to watch that as they are people we know and could maybe understand where they are coming from. We need villians and villianesses but they have to be someone that we can understand not strangers we don’t care or know anything about. Log in to Reply JAQ June 14, 2011 Marezi….I have to admit. The biggest reason I was a Lisa fan was because it gave me something else to look at thru all this Brenda nonsense. If you recall, everyday there for awhile it was Brenda Brenda Brenda. So when we got a Lisa day for me it was refreshing. However, like most storylines at GH this has gone on way too long. Log in to Reply GHteenybopper June 14, 2011 I just saw Leslie Charleson’s tweets, and I’m so excited to see Monica back, screw this stupid over done hostage crap, we all know Jason is gonna come in and save the day while Mac and the rest of the PCPD continue to look imcompetent. Wash, rinse, repeat, what the hell else is new on this show? And they’re wondering why the ratings are in the dumps. I think I’m gonna read Perkie’s Observations until Garin’s writing kicks in. As long as Spinelli doesn’t die, I kinda like him, and I loved Spixie! Log in to Reply Soap_fan_forever June 15, 2011 The preview actually makes it look like this week will be good but I know not to think that lol! I am so ready for Lisa to be done with for good…so sick of she’s done then’s she back…To me she is the most boring(ist) villian yet…yawn. I wish they’d bring Faith back…now she’s a good villian…well guess I can look forward to Helana next month. In Soap Digest this week it said Lisa was only done for “now” Not sure if that means they’ll bring her back if they want to or if they actually have it planned out…sigh.
