PRAISE SOAP JESUS: Billy "Killer" Miller Re-Ups at Young and Restless!

How's this for a perfect start to Daytime Emmy weekend? CBS Soaps in Depth tweeted in the wee hours of the morning that one of our fav-or-ite soapers—and one of the nominees for Outstanding Supporting Actor (he won in 2010)— Billy Miller has renewed his contract with The Young and the Restless!

According to SID, the dude Daytime Confidential's Jillian Bowe christened "Killer Miller" because of his penchant for MURDERING every scene (in an oh-so-good way), signed on for another year of bringing us the sexy, rowdy, passionate Billy Abbott. Man it feels good to write a positve post about Y&R!

My strong desire to see Victoria recast is merely because of MY well-documented dislike of Amelia Heinle, and her acting choices, are lack thereof, in the part of Victoria. I simply think she's a crappy actress and I want her gone. Simple as that. But it's a moot point, because we all know they aren't getting rid of her.

I definitely get that. I've always tried to see better in Heinle because I enjoyed her work on Loving, but I can understand why people would want her gone. I'd like to just see Victoria leave and not be recast. Everything about the character that I knew is dead. The scene where she bowed down so Victor could pat her head to forgive her was the scene where I said goodbye to Victoria once and for all.

Who are these great heroines and vixens in the past? Maybe you could offer an example Carol2, then I could see your point.

And let's be real, "Vixen" is code word of a strong, modern, woman, who doesn't take crap from anyone. I don't want any vixen to be marginalized. I hated that Leanna Love was marginalized. That's sending a message to women, that if your liberal, you don't count.

Second, what's with the Jackson hate? I love him. How is he a racist?

Traci, Nina, Ashley, Lauren, Jill, Victoria, Nikki, Drucilla, Olivia. I wasn't a fan of Christine but even she was more tolerable than the Lily/Sharon variety of heroine.

None of what you mentioned exists on Y&R now, in my opinion. In the past on Y&R even many mainstream heroines were strong, modern, and self-reliant.

I didn't mind that Leanna was marginalized because this meant it was less about some big character study and more about how entertaining she was and how her mania affected other characters. Now you have someone like the recent incarnation of Phyllis, who runs over everyone, but is still presented as a heroine.

^Traci would be spineless victim like Sharon and Lily. She was being tortured and mocked by Lauren. Got Bulimia. Got cheated on.

Nina...useless whiner. All she did was whine about her men and bitching with Jill. Why did she have Chance? What was the point? Remember the porn storyline?

Jill...useless whiner. All she did (well since Jess Walton took over)was bitch and grip at people.

Ashley always went crazy. Nikki has stayed pretty much in character. It was always the same except the storyline are just not executed properly or as creative.

Holy crap, I had no idea Sarah Buxton was so old! Last time I saw her on anything was Days in 2004 and she looked pretty good to me!

I am all for recasting Victoria. I would however like to know the age that you would recast her for. She was actually born over a decade before Billy. She was soras's to be an adult by the time Billy was born. Then Billy was soras'd and I think is younger than Victoria at this time but by how much I am not sure. AH is only about six years older than BM. I get confused and dazed by soras'd characters. This is one thing that makes me scratch my head about it. At one point, Victoria was old enough to be Billy's mother. Now she is about the age of a big sister, which oddly enough Billy was once played by David Tom who is Heather Tom's younger brother. If both characters were recast with earlier performers, we would have a brother and sister acting as husband and wife lol. Sarah Brown does fit a little bit. She is a couple of years younger than AH. I was thinking about Martha Byrne as well. She is about 3 years older than AH about 10 older than BM. And she can hold her own with strong women characters. She played up against the baddest bitch ever her mother on ATWT for decades. The age difference might be a little more noticable but both of them are great actors so I don't see why it couldn't happen (she is only 6 years older than Heather Tom).

I think this is a good thing, on balance, though it probably means that the Walking Dead aka Amelia Heinle will be sticking around, which is bad news. On the bright side this hopefully means Miller will reengage with the material...he's not been himself for a couple of months in my opinion. Just not fully there.

Totally agree. Billy Miller's talents as Billy Abbott have been completely squandered in this pairing with Victoria. AH's Victoria sucks the life out of every man she's paired with, and it's a crying shame that she's doing this now to Billy Miller's Billy.

They need to get him out of this pairing ASAP and get him into a storyline where Billy can shine again instead of playing Victoria purse holder, baby-buyer and crazy nanny-higher

She also found a career she loved, gained self-respect, and found happiness with a partner.

No one on Y&R has that type of character growth now. Instead, as with Sharon, they just regress and regress.

Sweet! I was hoping we'd get this news soon. Billy Abbott is one of my favorite characters and Billy M makes the role seem custom-made for him. I love the pairing of him of Victoria - and I've become a fan of Amelia as Victoria. Definitely the right move by Y&R to re-sign him.

alstonboy ... how could anyone not like Traci ever? She certainly does possess the most sense of any woman in Genoa City.

Regarding Billy Miller ...
Now that he is not leaving it will be interesting to see where that character goes. I don't mind him but the mugging does have to go and I'd rather not have to see his character nearly ruin himself again. He needs something different and more challenging to do for while.

I'm glad Killer Miller decided to stay but I think a change of s/l would do the character of Billy some good. It isn't like Billy to illegally buy babies, hold Victoria's purse and lose his sense of humor.
