RUMOR REPORT: Are Bree Williamson and Alicia Minshew Exiting OLTL and AMC Before They Move to The Web?

One Life to Live could soon be minus a Jess, Bess and a Tess. Now wouldn't that just be a mess? The new issue of Soap Opera Weekly has an item marked "RUMORVILLE" that states there's buzz Bree Willliamson could be leaving the role of Jessica Buchanan once OLTL ends its television run this January.

Meanwhile, my sources are telling me All My Children star Alicia Minshew (Kendall) is likely to exit the popular role of Kendall Hart Slater prior to AMC making the jump online.

"Lish is leaving," says the setsider. "She's only staying until the end of the TV broadcast."

Word is Minshew is antsy to get back to the East Coast full time. The beauty's husband, restauranteur Richie Herschenfeld, is based in New York and Minshew has reportedly grown weary of commuting.

"The hard fact is, the versions of All My Children and One Life to Live we will see online could look very different," says one veteran daytime executive.

Here's hoping Prospect Park steps up their game to get at least some familiar faces to stick it out with these beloved serials!

Editor's Note: SoapZone actually first reported that Bree Williamson was leaving OLTL early, prior to the rumor appearing in SOW.

GOOD.

they have both taken up WAY TOO MUCH screentime and storyline time from the other characters that are MORE deserving.

AND

whoever thought that Bree or "Lish" were going to the internet are seriously smoking bad crack.

if they wanted to be on internet soaps, they would be on internet soaps!!!

they're on tv because they want exposure/press and the internet won't provide that or the salaries they are used to!

The only AMC actor I care about continuing online is the marvelous VI/David! Smile

I have grown to despise Jessica's whiny ass lately, and I think Bree Williamson gets too much airplay, so I can't really say I would miss her if she left.

And I like Alicia Minshew, but I don't think her leaving the show is a showstopper by any stretch of the imagination. Life goes on. They can always recast.

I feel bad and I will miss them, but they deserve more than being an internet soap star.

I'm disgusted with Jessica these days so hopefully this is true. The second she apologized to Ford after he kidnapped her and let him off the hook for raping her I gave up on the character. It's horrible how the writers have decimated her. Dena started it when she created Tess, but Ron hasn't done much better. They should just write her off all together. No need for a recast.

There are certain characters that I do not buy when they are recast and Alicia Minshew is one of them. I see her, but I don't register her as Kendall. The same was true when Billy Warlock played AJ on GH. It may be a function of writing more than acting. In any event, I will not be sad to see Kendall go. I would never have typed that in the the 90's.

On the other hand, some characters go through multiple actors and I buy each and every one. The character is so conistsent. Carly on GH being the prime example.

So, if so many people have such a low opinion of the internet option, this is likely doomed to fail, isn't it?

Speaking of SMG via Kendall. Here is a promo for Ringer that debuted at Comic Con:

Both Jessica and Kendall could be recast if needed by their shows

Yeah Bree's Tess takes up too much story anyway, I wouldn't miss her. Bring Erin back as Jess/Tess she was better at Jessica anyway.
I wouldn't miss Alicia either, she seems sweet in real life but they can definately recast her. Too bad Sarah Michelle Geller is too busy.

Love both actresses and sometimes love the characters but this may be for the best. In Kendall's case: way too much airtime. In Jessica's case: the writer doesn't know how to write the character.

What is with all the dissing web stars? Lisa Kudrow just relaunched her career by doing a web series for several seasons before it was picked up as a series. Alexandra Chando has done several web series for Alloy, who then cast her in a high profile ABC Family series. The web is not necessarily the equivalent to a trip to K-Mart when your Mom promised you an excursion to Nordstrom.

I think Prospect Park knows that the internet soaps won't draw as many people as the broadcast ones, at least I hope they know this. I'm sure that they will budget the show knowing that they will have a much smaller cast and audience.

I'm not looking down on these shows, but your examples seem to be showing that what these two people were trying to achieve is getting back on television. You sorta make it sound like they used the web shows to help them get something better.

I don't see what is wrong with using web shows to launch or re-launch your career. Considering that is what most people used the televised soaps for anyway. It isn't really a knock to the web shows in my opinion.

Well, you need lots of airtime when you've played four characters in the past couple of years. (Jess/Tess/Bess/Wess) ._.'

Maybe Erin can play Jess online?

Well, yeah. Internet shows may be the wave of the future, but until being on a web show will get people the quarter of the attention actors on the lowest of the low rent cable shows get, actors will choose tv over the internet if they think they can get a gig on tv.

And I'm sorry, the web isn't going to make a huge splash until someone comes up with a show that's new, fresh and somewhat different. HBO didn't become what it did with a cancelled network tv show, they had The Sopranos and Sex and the City. AMC and OLTL aren't it.

Sad to hear about the 2 of them..there my fav characters on both soaps but can't honestly say i'm surprised....Bree is a new mom probably wanting to take some time off and it wouldnt really make sense for Lish to stay...she openly wanted to not come back when she left to have Willow but she did come back so she probably sees this now as a way to spend more time with her hubby and daughter and spread her wings on other things as well as the net might not be what she wants to do for acting....as well her character would be so boring as well as her storyline because we know Zach is coming back and I am putting a 99.9% guess that he's alive and when they move to the net he's gonna be dead again?? I can't imagine thorsten will want to keep doing the show since that's why he left when they moved and no amc fan is gonna take that zach is dead or he is alive but away on business or something...so to me it doesn't make too much since...sad though since she's a amazing actress so I can't wait to see her and bree on other things:D

The sad reality is that the vast majority of soap actors are never seen or heard from again. How many cast members of ATWT or GL are making a living as actors today? When I think of my favorite dearly departed soaps (Santa Barbara, The City, The Edge of Night, Ryan's Hope), most of the stars were rarely or never seen again.

The people on AMC and OLTL have a LOT of thinking to do.

I agree. Web shows may be where entertainment is headed but that time hasn't quite arrived yet. Daytime tv soaps may not be prestigious but they still have more prestige than web soaps.

Kendall, Greenlee, Ryan...these three characters need to go to that Big Martin Attic in the sky. Time to retire these three characters that have run their course.

As long as Vincent Irizarry (David) signs on, I am there. I don't care if the cast is:

Vincent Irizarry

Sarah Glendening (Marissa)

Denise Vasi (Randi)

Ricky Paull Goldin (Worst Jake Ever)

As long as David is in PV, that is all I need. All I need is David Hayward.

Not surprised, I mean I love them both, but I think that in Alicia's case she needs a break and in Bree's case she needs to move on.

I am sure a lot of the cast in both shows might follow their lead and move on.

So, AMC and OLTL got "saved" and STILL no one is happy. Suprise Suprise. All the negativity is really starting to bother me. Quick everyone name 3 things you love about soaps....I bet most of you cant do it.

I love Bree and “Lish” but I mean, they’re both recasts themselves, lol, so recasting a recast for the web version is no biggie… JMO though.
