Wouldn't it be nice if ABC and the people behind The Chew would some how manage to drum up buzz about their new show without constantly dissing and diminishing All My Children? Guess that would be too classy. In an interview with theAssociated Press, The Chew's executive producer Gordon Elliott provided these wise observations about viewing habits in 2011:
"People don't have time to sit for an hour and watch a story. ABC came to me and said we've had great success with 'The View' but we'd like to get into food. I thought 'The View,' food, 'The Chew.' We do more than just chop and chat. Our co-hosts are relatable."
Someone should alert Broadway, the motion picture industry, ABC's primetime division and kindergarten teachers across the land preparing to lead kids in storytime this morning, because the producer of The View With Food thinks we're post-story. Oh yeah, did I mention that quote was from an article about how The Chew hopes to win over AMC's audience? Seems like they're off to a stellar start to me.
