Susan Lucci on Heading to Prospect Park: "I Would be Ecstatic to be a Part of All My Children"

Don't blame soap legend Susan Lucci  for Prospect Park's delay in bringing All My Children online. La Lucci wants it to be known she would be more than happy reprising her role as the uber bitch-tastic vixen Erica Kane. Lucci wrote a statement to her fans on Facebook stating:

I want my fans to know the truth. There has been miscommunications as a result of statements in the press that I am one of the reasons that All My Children is not moving forward. This is simply untrue and not the case. We have been in discussions since Prospect Park first expressed interest in moving the series online, and in correspondence dated September 8th, I made it clear that I would be ecstatic to be a part of All My Children in a prominent way if they committed to producing the series for another year. I have not heard back from Prospect Park since then, in fact, I learned of their decision not to proceed with All My Children at the same time you did, through the media.

It's been a privilege and honor to be involved with the All My Children family for so many years, from working closely with Agnes Nixon to getting to know millions of devoted and wonderful fans.

I don't think AMC was ever a priority for Prospect Park. La Lucci has just been a convenient scapegoat.

Great, another company that has no respect for the actors that represent them. Just what soaps need. A mentality to throw their failure to deliver on the backs of Vincent and Susan is not classy, not good business at all.

AMC is dead and we fans have another company in PP taking a page out ABC's play book and say nothing to fans to explain why. Oh they will say "it's a delay" to keep fans quiet but the writing is on the wall. PP won't get any love from this viewer or support.

this is the only person in all this BS from pp that has actually come out and wanted to negotiate in the interests of the show.and her reward was nonsensical leaks from PP about her being a diva and wanting to milk PP for money and being selfish. Not once in her 41 year career has this woman ever exhibited anything other than the utmost professionalism but msny PP apologists were ready to take the word of a company no one has any knowledge of over her history. I will always stand behind her and am still proud to be a fan of hers. PP sounds like they are run by a bunch of castoffs from ABC Daytime. not a good start gentleman as I doubt they have one woman working there with any level of power.

HERE, HERE Jphelps ITA about Susan. Her loyalty to daytime and AMC for 41 years and it was continuous and she helped all of daytime dramas for 3 decades. Other divas leave and return not Susan. She's being used as scapegoat for PP's failure. SL's present would help not only AMC but OLTL for the relaunch for the web because of publicity PP could milk the publicity for there new venture. Morning shows, talk shows, publications would want to interview SUSAN LUCCI because of her celebrity in the business. OLTL being PP's lone soap now who has that type demand of celebrity...nobody. Now, PP will get limited amount of press and bashing of AMC stars have started especially lying it on SL's shoulders. PP is showing their true colors and treatment of fans just as ABC and Frons.

I never believed the rumors and knew it was PP all along.
It seems to me PP bit off more than they could chew. No pun intended.
Buying these shows but not knowing how they are going to bankroll it.

There are so many fans who don't know about the PP deal and don't really know why the show had the cliffhanger. It's very sad.

Maybe Lucci's statement now being public will Help PP get more investors. Seems like she is more than willinging If and When PP can make it happen.

@ Jphelps---PP sounds like castoffs from ABC/Disney because they ARE. The executives and creative team that has been put into place are almost entirely made up of ABC/Disney home- grown "talent" (and I use that word very loosely because there hasn't been very much talent behind the scenes on any ABC daytime show for nearly a decade).

Ms. Lucci has been this genre's greatest ambassador for decades. She had the nerve to tell the truth about Frons and within hours a story leaks that she is playing hardball with PP. The thinking person must at least question that coincidence.

I'm not shocked that AMC is not going forward. I'm not even sure that PP had the creative team in place to produce a compelling drama even if they had the money to do it. Soap fans can get a more impassioned response about this genre from this site (or just about any other) than I heard from any executive at PP. And as Frons has show us, when the executive does not have a passion for the genre, the result will be a disgrace.

I also wouldn't be shocked to hear the OLTL is being "pushed back" as well. The creative vision is just not there to sell this show as anything new to cable companies or advertisers. The status quo is not a good thing in a genre that needs to figure out a way to reinvent itself while also showing respect to these show's decades long histories. Simply moving a show online with all the same Frons' selected creative team in place is showing a complete lack of vision.

Would any thinking person put their money into PP? I wouldn't. But I might if they had shown some passion for reinvention while hiring some executives and writers who have a history of telling compelling stories that a thinking viewer might enjoy.

Maybe now people will stop bashing her for being an obstacle to the whole deal happening. From the first inkling PP had of moving AMC online, they ought to have approached Susan properly and made sure she was on board, even if it was only to launch the show on a short-term basis.

@soapfan616

Thanks I did not know that. THese are business people and they are trying to make money but status quo is not the answer IA. I give them kudos for their ambition but Disney has a terrible rep as a company to work for so I am not shocked to see this shoddy handing of all this. Union contracts still up in the air. Who are they fooling.

And - whoever thinks the word that Susan Lucci is on board is going to matter to investors now why would it. PP never made it known in print she was interested when she was and they had months to use that as leverage if they felt it meant something and none of us know what strategy they have been approaching investors with. and I doubt they are going out and raising money persay for AMC or OLTL its likely for TOLN period.

Im really crushed over this, especially since I have been complaining every chance I got about PP's silence. I called them invisable PP. Little dd I know! They can do whatever they want, but THEY became worse than ABC. At least ABC came out with a million reasons why they would cancel, even tho we still didnt want to hear it, but Prospect Park came in to save the day like "our heros" than they decide, oh no we're not doing AMC and dont even come out and tell us, we are hearing rumor. Do I dare say, well maybe its not true? I dont think so. Im too scared to get my hopes high again. And at this point I would imagine Susan and the rest are so tired of this too, that if it is true, they can stop this yoo-yooing and put it to rest. I would imagine it is very stressful for them. Its mental and emotional stress.

I love Susan but for her to say this now doesn't really mean much. She could just being saying that she would be happy to continue with AMC because she knows it isn't going to happen. I think this all happened way too fast and it is a shame. AMC could have done really well online with PP. I think these fabulous actors should just try to find other work now and if it ever does happen that they are all available, then they can give it another try. Debbie Morgan and Jacob Young were smart to take those other roles.

The thing that I dont understand is why isnt Prospect Park interacting with AMC and OLTL fans? Never a word from them. With all the rumors and heresay, they are not even concerned with keeping relations with the audience. Or with the actors for that matter. Now how are we supposed to trust them? When they announced that they were going to take these 2 wonderful shows, Prospet Park became out new best friends. Now "they stopped bothering with us".... so to speak. My mother is a big OLTL fan, and I just told her that even tho it appears that they will be picked up, it might not happen. I dont want her to get a shock at the 11th hour as we did. If the invisable forces Prospect Parks says otherwise, I will let her not bank on it!!!

I think what people dont realize is that it's a business. It is a new business venture for them and I think they reevaluated taking on 3 Soaps. I think they are taking on One life to live and General Hospital.

I'm going on the record now saying that at the end of the day Prospect Park won't move forward with OLTL either. I think the players at PP have been very smart getting a lot of free press for their company in the past 9 months and leading soap fans on. There is still no deal with the WGA, SAG, AFTRA and if the show is supposed to premiere in 2 months online the longter story should be written and shooting should be starting in the next couple of weeks. None of this seems to be happening.

Sad, but I think OLTL fans aren't going to be very thankful this Thanksgiving.

NYSam You are right, the PP deal is dead for sure, Raven just reported. AMC and OLTL are over and PP has no intention of doing anything with either show.

You know what guys? I think something is brewing which dosent sound too good. Im not going to look any further about it, and will wait on Jamey or someone from DC cause they wont report it, unless they cross all their t's and dot all their i's. Even then, its so crazy. If they report what we are hearing, we're in deep doo.

Raven just posted on Facebook, all deals are finished with pp and abc soaps. All actors at OLTL have been asked to clean out their dressing rooms and leave the building. PP has cancelled all meetings with unions and actors, the deal to bring the shows online is dead.

Lord have mercy on the invisable Prospect Parks soul. I KNEW they were the invisable force. NO-ONE takes on 2 iconic soap operas and never says another word about it. My love to all the AMC and OLTL actors and actresses if this is true. Maybe the invisable PP will rush right in now and re-save the day!!

PP is saying "no comment". To me, that's as good as saying the deal is dead. They sure picked a lousy way to go about the whole thing.

Just a thought. If PP does not have access to the studio until a certain date, than maybe its still legally abc's and if everyone leaves all their stuff in the building and something happens abc will be responsible for it. Thats like you moving into a new house and not closing on the property until December 1st and moving your stuff in November 15th. A lawyer would advise against it. And if it was done, there would have to be so many different kind of stipulations in the contracts it could make heads spin. Maybe thats what it is. How can they just do this at the 11th hour. I joke about it, but how can they?????

Giogio, I would give them the benefit of doubt, but they also cancelled all meetings with the unions and have stopped communications with the actors. The deal is done, the shows are gone for good as will GH soon. These three iconic shows are now history and will never be seen by the public again, its over.
