    I agree with most of what they all said. The thing with the unions is WGA said they almost had a deal and while AFTRA said they were willing to negoiate we dont know the numbers they wanted and PP wanted. So Im just gonna say that came down to not being able to find middle ground. But as said before, they didnt have the money and that was the biggest hurdle. Since they lost investors, IMO getting more investors seemed to be priorty over An AFTRA/WGA deal that wouldnt be needed if there was no money to produce the soaps.

    I also heard ABC put it in the deal that PP had to do the soaps as is and that was probably what killed this deal. Its hard to get investors to invest in a web channel and then when u tell them hey its two classic soaps and they will air like they did on ABC, investors knew that model was problematic. PP gave a great effort but it wasnt the right time or place imo.

    I agree with Jillian. I don’t think PP had any idea of the scale taking on AMC and OLTL “as is” would be. This clearly was not well vetted by their people. It was just too much to expect to continue 2-1 hr shows 5 days a week online. I don’t think there was anything sinister or covert going on with ABC or some mustache twirling villain set to destroy the move to online viewing(LOL @ Jamey), I just think PP had the best of intentions but were just way out of their league. They should have started out small, and built from that once revenue was generated.

    Since Y&R has not been acting right lately (it’s on the uptick in the last week or so, but for how long?), I have started back watching Days since the reboot. Days has been on fiyah! I, like Jamey, grew up watching Days. NBC daytime (including the glorious AW and SB) is where my love of soaps began before I became a Y&R fan as a teen. This feels like Days to me. Wow – James Scott and Alison Sweeney were like “whoa” with the EJami couch sex. They were both hunching and grunting – it was so carnal. I’m surprised this made it past the sensors, because I thought “thrusting” was a no-no in daytime. But I like that they didn’t try to sell it as a romantic, passionate scene. They barely made eye contact the whole time. This was a physical release, not love, IMO. It reminded me of the infamous sex scene from Monster’s Ball – of course without all the nudity and more stongly suggestive penetration. While EJ and Sami have a deeper history than the characters from that movie, this was raw sex, not lovemaking AFAIC. I think both actors sold the compulsiveness of them doing it on the couch rather well (poor Stefano!).

    Just listened to the podcast and wanted to say to thanks to the DC Crew. I always appreciate but particularly appreciated the focus on gratitude and positivity when it’s a tough time for us as soap fans. Thank you!

    Very glad Martinez won dancing w/the stars very happy indeed;

    I also agree w/Jamey re: how PP could have tried to be innovative with a new format “keeping them as them as they are.” I’m not surprised that there was ducking/dodging; I don’t trust (ABC)PP sorry but they’ve lied far to much I don’t think its a conspiracy theory. They simply want out. I’ve known how much soaps cost to produce for years & no extensive research.

    LOL……hitting the iceberg…..Not surprised Kimberly is leaving after her director quest esp after the program she attended.

    I agree re: Smilin’ Jack; Victor is the guardian of his kid and now here comes Patti sorry but I’m rather tired of crazy Patti I’ve had enough. Good to see Nicki looking good and Genevieve toned down.

    days of our lives LoL Easter eggs…..oh yeah the EJ/Sami couch scene was smokin’ very well done.. liked the camera angles and all that…When will walked on it I felt his emotions…disappointment, shock etc….(I watched twice)

    Cyberologist I did love love love the whole Sami Ej thing especially Will’s reaction to it. It harkens back to when Will was a kid and all the crazy things Sami used to do that would blow Will’s mind. I kinda miss Christopher Gerse buggy eyed going “MOM!” every time she would do something unbelievably stupid, which was alot! He was a good kid and unfortunately got way too tall to be believable as Sami and Lucas’s kid. I always found it funny when the new Will’s would come along and comment on how they have grown. It’s like no you shrunk like 6 inches lol. Oh and got blond.

    Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought Appleridge stated in one of the PP threads that the company had to take AMC and OLTL “as is” with the current format of 52 weeks with a one hour show per soap? Maybe things would have been better if ABC simply sold all three soaps to PP and they decided to make each soap 30 minutes long five days a week.

    I went into this podcast hoping the DC crew would be spewing blood and fire over the AMC/OLTL debacle. What I got was a toned response, and I appreciated it. Like Jamey said, I do not subscribe to the conspiracy theory that ABC was in cahoots with PP to screw soap fans. ABC has bigger fish to fry than soap fans. Yes, I am angry the deal fell apart. I feel horrible for the cast and crew of both shows. Come January, I won’t have OLTL to enjoy for the first time in 20 years. It will be hard but I will live. I do not regret signing petitions and writing letters of support. I will not watch The Chew or The Revolution; I will not be storming offices of ABC and Prospect Park either. What I will do is continue coming to this site and watching soaps (American or abroad) that I enjoy.
