Exec Who Helped Make Hot In Cleveland a Hit For TV Land Tapped to Oversee Launch of Nick-at-Nite's Reach For a Star
Jill Farren Phelps and Josh Griffith just got themselves a new boss! Nickelodeon has tapped former TV Land exec Sal Maniaci as the channel's new senior vice-president of event and original programming. In this new role, Maniaci, who helped make Hot in Cleveland a hit, is being charged with overseeing the upcoming launch of Nick-at-Nite's premiere primetime soap — the 80-episode, English language adaptation of popular telenovela Reach For a Star.
As previously reported, veteran daytime soap execs Phelps (General Hospital, General Hospital: Night Shift, One Life to Live, Another World, Guiding Light, Santa Barbara) and Griffith (The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, As The World Turns, One Life to Live, Sunset Beach and Santa Barbara) are serving as executive producer and head writer respectively on the vehicle. Former OLTL starlet Brittany Underwood was among the first stars cast in the series.
I have to say, Viacom being committed enough to making Reach For a Star a success that they're bringing over their Hot In Cleveland guy has me impressed. Are you excited for Nick-at-Nite's first nightly soap? Tell us what you think Reach For Star's chances of success are in the comments!
