HomePop ConfidentialCelebrityBack in The Game? Oprah Secures Bobbi Kristina Brown Exclusive For OWN Series Jamey Giddens March 3, 2012 18 Comments Don't remove the adjective "mighty" from in front of my nickname for Oprah Winfrey just yet. On the heels of a hilarious turn on Jimmy Kimmel's Oscar night special, The Mighty O has snagged an exclusive interview with members of the late Whitney Houston's family—including Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina. The interview will air on Winfrey's cable network OWN, via her Oprah's Next Chapter vehicle, March 11 at 9 pm EST. According to a press release, Winfrey will speak with "those closest to the legendary singer, as Bobbi Kristina shares personal memories of her mom and how she would like the iconic superstar to be remembered. The family also addresses the rumors and speculation surrounding Houston's death." The late pop music icon's brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Patricia Houston, will be interviewed, alongside Bobbi Kris, as part of the special. Big gets like this could be just what it will take to get OWN out of the ratings basement. Will you be watching Winfrey's interview with the Houston family? Sticking a microphone in the face of kid who had to be hospitalized because of her grief? A stellar moment in TV journalism. By the way, why does the media ignore Whitney Houston’s >adult< adopted son? Log in to Reply Miry March 3, 2012 Yes. Log in to Reply chelsea13 March 3, 2012 Actually, Patricia Houston is Whitney’s sister in law and manager not her sister. Log in to Reply richalan67 March 3, 2012 Well, I wonder how long it will take the egomaniac to make the entire interview all about her! Log in to Reply shanyboo March 3, 2012 I don’t think that Oprah is “exploiting” Bobbi Christina. Obviously Oprah is close to the family, by the fact that she was invited to the funeral. And no one is making Bobbi Christina do this. She is a grown woman. If she didn’t want to do it, that would have been the end of it. Log in to Reply AdamDrake March 3, 2012 josstheguy, the media hasn’t ignored him. I’ve seen stories about him. I don’t think he was ever adopted by Whitney, and apparently Cissy is trying to exclude him from the family because he’s a bad influence on Bobbi Christina. Apparently, the Houston women have no free will. They are always influenced by an evil man. I don’t blame Oprah for going after the interview, since everybody was. I do wonder if this is the right time for her to be doing an interview with anyone, though. If reports are true and she is battling addiction herself right now, this could become another train wreck interview that will come back to haunt her the way her mother’s “Crack is whack” interview did. Log in to Reply Llanview76 March 3, 2012 The mighty “0″ is not the same person she used to be, and it’s not for the better. That’s all I have to say. Log in to Reply 1titanman March 3, 2012 It was just a matter time before O would sit down, but I thought she have Cissy on there..I knew it, because O see green paper at the end of the day….. Log in to Reply Jon March 3, 2012 ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Won’t be watching…….. Log in to Reply The_Moustache March 3, 2012 this is WAY TOO SOON. let the poor child grieve, and give her at least a year or 2 until she starts talking publicly about her mother. Log in to Reply Jamey Giddens March 3, 2012 How do we know the family didn’t reach out to Oprah? With all the rumors that are out there, maybe they want to set the record straight? I’m sure if they didn’t want to do the interview, Oprah would respect that. No one is forcing them to do it. Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon March 3, 2012 It’s truly amazing how there are people who are always ready to assume the worst about Oprah. I have always been and will continue to be a fan. People have exploited Whitney before; selling stories to to the scandal sheets, for example. This is one way the family can make sure their voices are heard in a classy way. Log in to Reply MsAgentProvocateur1 March 3, 2012 I do think that it is up to the family to decide if and when they want to speak. They make their own decisions and considering that Oprah was probably truly the last person to do a real sit-down interview with Whitney Houston, it is not surprising that she would be their first choice. Having said that, I must admit, I was really surprised by how soon this appears to be taking place. Even when I heard about it this morning, I thought it would be in the future– not in several days’ time. I no longer subscribe to cable, so I won’t be seeing this interview. Log in to Reply liason4real March 3, 2012 Hmmmm. I wonder if Oprah is having second thoughts about having her OWN network instead of sticking to her daytime talk show? Log in to Reply angelal916 March 4, 2012 I’m not surprised by this at all. Her network is failing so she resorts to tabloid tactics to survive. As far as I am concerned she done-has been for a while now. I have never watched OWN and probably never will. There is nothing on that station that interests me. Log in to Reply sassysdreams March 4, 2012 Don’t care about Oprah any more and not interested in watching an interview of a grief stricken 18 year old!!! Log in to Reply soapfan616 March 5, 2012 I appreciate that DC has not joined the bandwagon of soap sites that are anti-Oprah. Soap fans forget too easily how Oprah supported the soap genre for YEARS, especially AMC. I do understand the root of some soap fans’ hate for all things O. Soap fans were looking for a savior. She said she wasn’t it. Her words could have been much better chosen but the fact remains that ABC wouldn’t have sold her the rights to AMC for any amount of money. ABC wouldn’t want O’s name attached to anything to make it a success, not that putting AMC on a struggling network would have been successful. We can find lots of enemies of the soap genre, but O has never been one of them. Log in to Reply Cyberologist March 6, 2012 Well if this helps keep Kristina away from the bong I’m all for it when I saw those pics of her hitting the pipe I was truly disappointed. She’s really grown into a pretty little lady & she was very close to her mother…whatever guidance can get her through this terrible time good for her. Its her decision if she’s ready to speak about her mom maybe that’s what is therapeutic for her. People handle grief in their own way.
