As previously reported, Single Black Female (from Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil) tells the story of Mary Jane (Gabrielle Union), a popular and powerful cable news anchor, trying to balance career ambitions with family and love life complications. @Jamey: I have an idea for the network to develop a drama series about a scheming philandering money hungry Baptist church pastor, based off the character Reverend Curtis Black in author Kimlerla Lawson Roby’s ongoing Curtis Black book series. I could see Lammon Rucker (because Curtis Black is Marshall Travers with the “good book” in his hand and the pulpit at his command) in playing the strapping buck of a brotha who can charm the pants of women all the while maintaining a fraudulent marriage in order to keep his position and ever growing salary in the church. And then I would cast Victoria Rowell as the “first lady” of the church whom is in the dark about her husband’s dirty deeds both financially and sexually.

Now with all the stories of church leaders gone bad this would be good for the network.

Because in one book he impregnates a teenage member of the church while having an affair with another member who turns out to be obsessed and deranged. He is also in every book is such a good pastor that he grows the congregation to mega church proportions and schemes to get the deacon’s board to continue to raise his salary and live high off the hog at the congregations expense.

Now that would be a hit series. I read all the books and this just screams for a drama series to be developed around it.
