I’ve enjoyed Grayson in every role he’s tackled–at least that I’ve seen him in. Wasn’t too thrilled that Jill Farren F—up was given this opportunity but maybe with this addition, some of the show will be worth watching?! His version of Dusty was some lame knockoff of GH’s Sonny Corinthos! ATWT had a horrible track record of recasting well-known characters in the ’00’s. I mean Dusty, Paul and Meg were nearly unrecognizable in terms of character histories and motivations. I digress. Best of luck to Mr. Grayson and his fine ass! ITA about the horrible characterizations of some ATWT characters. To me, the direction that Craig Montgomery took in the last decade was the most egregious. Hunt Block’s a terrific actor whose got oodles of charm but he was NOT Craig Montgomery. He should’ve played someone else. Log in to Reply soapbaby April 21, 2012 I can’t believe I forgot about the utter destruction of Craig Montgomery! Craig was a great and nuanced character in the 80’s and was unrecognizable in the ’00’s. The DC staff here have commented that they liked Hogan Sheffer’s writing on ATWT but I thought his writing marked the shift from the show being about small time peoe we loved into über-campy, plot driven schlock! Never should Barbara should have been turned into a crazed loon over Craig. Also, I think Hunt Block is terribly overrated. He’s as one-note as they come. Log in to Reply SwanQueen59 April 22, 2012 I have fond memories of Hunt Block opposite Saundra Santiago’s Carmen Santos on GL. He also got to do some excellent work with Jerry ver Dorn’s Ross Mahler and Tammy Blanchard’s Dru… 0:) Log in to Reply testadoda April 22, 2012 I like Grayson ,loved him with Jennifer. I hated Hunt Block as Craig. he talked with his mouth full and I also hated Shaffer’s writing. I shut the show off because of the way they wrote Barbara. Grayson was not the Dusty I always liked. I liked the original . I wish Grayson luck and I think he will need it. JFP ruined GH. She has had a hand ruining all the shows she has been involved with! I watched ATWTs for soooo long and it took Sheffer to ruin the show. Sure I didn’t like all the stories on all the time But,They had a great show before he destroyed it. Calhoun hated Craig so he wouldn’t have the original back. I watched at the end but, I did not enjoy most of it. Only recently do I see him in old clips and he’s okay but I was just so turned off by the direction of Craig Montgomery by the time Hunt was playing him. I read in an interview with Scott Bryce about a year ago that he didn’t understand the direction that the character took, it didn’t make sense to him which was why he and Goutman butted heads over it and he was eventually ‘let go’. The guy only originated the role! Don’t get me started on that one… As for Hogan Sheffer, me personally, in the beginning I had hopes that Hogan would be an improvement and at first it appeared to be the case. Then he just kept pushing into the humor into camp and more camp. It was not a good look, especially given the fact that camp was the opposite of what ATWT was known for. ATWT and GL appealed to me because at their best, it was often like watching a mini three Act Play in each episode. Sure there were moments of humor and comedy but when it was done, it was still in keeping with the overall tone of the show. Once Hogan secured that Emmy, either he got complacent or indifferent, and the show began a permanent and swift decline. I think honestly Hogan had one stellar year of storytelling and then it all went irrevocably and irreversibly South! Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon April 22, 2012 MsAgentProvocateur1, I’m in complete agreement with you on Hogan’s run at ATWT. It wasn’t bad. AT FIRST. What makes me question his “talent” is the fact that he seems to be basically a one-trick pony. A lot of what he’s done at Y&R is a virtual ripoff of stories that he did at ATWT. Some of it was much better done the first time around, so he’s cleary burnt out. Log in to Reply soapbaby April 22, 2012 @MsAgentProvocateur: ICAM. I think Hogan Sheffer is a no-talent hack. I loved ATWT and GL. Several times I have turned off an episode of one of the remaining soaps and watched a classic episode of ATWT or GL on DVD. Thank goodness SoapClassics exist! BTW/ I FLOVED Craig and Sierra! Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
