Ronnie Marmo: "Leaving GH is Bittersweet"

General Hospital's cop gone rogue Ronnie Marmo (Ronnie) spoke to ABC Soaps In Depth about his departure from the sudser. Said Marmo:

Leaving GH is bittersweet," he says. "The truth is, one of the hardest things about leaving was that I never had any job for three years! Sure, I'll miss the paycheck and the fan support. But, at the same time, it's really about everybody that I work with.

I never liked the character, but Ronnie's a pretty good actor. It's kinda sad that they couldn't have kept him around! He could have been used in a variety of different ways on the canvas. However, I will say that at least his storyline was interesting and they used him well.

I did not know that Ronnie's name was Ronnie, and I can't believe he's been on for three years! I feel like he's a new character still. But that makes no sense because he started when Dante/Dominic was introduced. Forgive me, I have Hope/Liam/Steffy-induced dementia.

Ditto that alstonboy. Its too bad they didn't let us know more about his
character's personal difficulties (a cheating wife etc.) until the day they kill him off. I wish him every success in any case... Innocent

I have to say when the character came on he was an upstanding and honest agent. And he wasn't on the side of the fence of hiding Sonny's or Jason's illegal doings. Or sitting DIRECTLY on the fence like Dante who is always torn between the law of the land and whether or not Michael will cry his SPOILED BRAT self to bed every night because his daddy or faux-poppa went to prison for crimes that went against the Law of the Land. Or the totally inept PC police department, including Mac, that call in the likes of criminals Luke and Jason because only they can say the day.

Then the old and new regimes wrote such convoluted stories that they needed to have a good scapegoat that allowed the drama to occur but would be drawn to the center when the drama was no longer wanted and it fell on Ronnie. I hope it comes to pass that he also killed Lisa because all of the stories on here SUCK!

I can't really speak to his acting before, but his last few weeks at GH were awful. I thought he was overacting and could barely muster tears. I also saw him blinking when they zipped up the bodybag. I have not been watching GH regularly enough to get a read on him or the character, but I found him to be somewhat of a non-entity. I'll miss him about as much as I'll miss Maggie. By the way, I didn't realize that Heather actually killed her, I thought she was just passed out.

I like the actor but not the character so glad he is gone. He will get other work because he is a handsome guy with talent.

GH's version of marrying Jessica and Natalie, is being the secondary cop assigned to Sonny. You better make sure your will and trust are up to date.

Whatever happened to Taggert and Garcia? Those were the only two cops I enjoyed.

Ronnie does a lot of plays and such. I am a fan of the actor and hate to see him go. I wish him much luck.

Glad he is gone, now cut all the other dead weight and get this show on the road.

He seemed most like a cop than the others to me. They really made him a bad guy quick. Yikes. He must have had some kind of contract of sorts. With today's budget, characters like him bite the dust. I wasn't so sure because the team sometimes had recurring regulars on oltl. (My other two favs atwt/gl also had the recurring characters making it seem more like a town) But right now, all the soaps are hanging on by a thread. Reduced staffs are the order of the day. He was sure to go. He was like the guys on Star Trek that went down to the planets in the red shirts, they were never coming back.

Wish the actor luck. At least he got an exit story.

I liked Ronnie, but I'm pretty sure he was just a temporary plot character. Love the actor, he is really good. He does "sinister" VERY well. That is such a 'cute' picture of him, lol!
