GH BYTES: The wait is over! Florencia Lozano made her General Hospital debut as Tea Delgado on Wednesday and I couldn’t be happier. I did a happy dance at seeing the very pregnant Tea walk into the PCPD and offer to help Starr (Kristen Alderson). Wishes don’t always come true, but now my two favorite soap attorneys—Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) being the other one—are on one soap. I’ll be watching Thursday’s GH live.
FASHION EMERGENCY: I interrupt this edition of Soap Bytes to BEG the General Hospital wardrobe and makeup departments to fix Kate Howard (Kelly Sullivan), ASAP. The editor of a fashion bible would never be caught in public looking as awful as Kate/Connie has been for months. She needs a haircut, highlights, a dye job and a completely new wardrobe.
It’s a sad day when Kate Howard’s hair is as cringe-inducing as the notoriously terrible haired Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) on The Young and the Restless. High definition TV is a wonderful thing, but it is not the friend of fried hair. Worse, Kate’s problems are amplified any time she shares a scene with Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) or Carly (Laura Wright), both of whom possess locks that look like they should be highlighted in Clairol commercials. Nearly every actress on GH has character appropriate wardrobe and amazing hair, except the woman who should be the most glamorous.
Now to the awesomeness of Todd’s return to Port Charles on Wednesday.
Todd (Roger Howarth) escaped a murder conviction by a “not guilty, by reason of insanity” verdict? Lucky bastard.
Starr: “So when you were lying to get me to bust you out. You weren’t really lying, you just didn’t remember?”
Todd: “I did not remember, at the time.”
Starr: “How about kidnapping Tomas (Ted King) and framing him? Do you remember that?”
Todd: “Of course I remember. Who could forget something like that. He kidnapped me first.”
Thank goodness Jason (Steve Burton) reminded Sonny (Maurice Benard) of his own mental instability. If anyone can weigh in on the topic it's Jason.
John (Michael Easton) and Sam (Kelly Monaco) continued to balance their amazing chemistry, humor and intensity. However, my favorite part of their dialogue was about Alexis.
Sam to John: “There is a 99.9% chance my mother will be showing up here in 12.5 minutes.”
John: “12.5 minutes?”
Sam: “It could be sooner, if she’s willing to blow through some lights. Which she probably will.”
B&B BYTES: Hope (Kim Matula) arrived at Ridge (Ronn Moss) and Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) to move in, but discovered Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) talking to her father.
Surprisingly, Wednesday’s The Bold and the Beautiful was refreshing. Even though Hope and Liam’s relationship was still the primary topic of conversation, featuring the discussion over meals was a nice change of pace. It allowed for more character interaction. I actually liked Steffy and Hope’s one-on-one. It was a mature relief from the childish storyline.
Meanwhile at Liam’s (Scott Clifton), Bill (Don Diamont), Katie (Heather Tom) and Caroline (Linsey Godfrey) arrived for a meal that Liam had forgotten. Bill continued to be an ass, while Katie and Caroline tried to temper Bill’s attitude with Liam’s replies.
Y&R BYTES: The Young and the Restless jumped every single shark swimming at SeaWorld by having Daniel (Michael Graziadei) propose to, and sleep with, Daisy (Yvonne Zima). She is the woman who drugged and raped him! I don’t like to swear, but I’m going to just call the plot twist what it was — a steaming pile of shit.
In fact, the once great Y&R has become nothing more than a bunch of talented actors fighting to be king or queen of a feedlot-sized mountain of shit, for fear of being buried by it. Daniel’s proposal to his rapist, Sharon and Victor’s irredeemable pairing, anything Daisy, Ricky (Peter Porte) and/or Genevieve (Genie Francis) related and Eileen Davidson’s firing, are just the latest examples of Y&R’s ongoing implosion.
Y&R is the worst soap on air, bar none. Eric Braeden, Peter Bergman, Melody Thomas Scott, Eileen Davidson, Tracey Bregman, Michelle Stafford, Christian LeBlanc, Jeanne Cooper, Jess Walton, Kristoff St. John, Billy Miller, Elizabeth Hendrickson, Kate Linder, Marcy Rylan, Joshua Morrow, Christel Khalil, Sharon Case, Michael Graziadei, Greg Rikaart and Michael Muhney do not deserve such an embarrassing public humiliation.
DAYS BYTES: Salem’s residents found out the Fab Four and the two Snore Bores "died" on Tuesday and they held the wake on Wednesday? That was fast. Before the wake, Will (Chandler Massey) confronted Stefano (Joseph Mascolo). Meanwhile, Sami (Alison Sweeney) cried in Lucas’ (Bryan Dattilo) arms.
EJ (James Scott) overheard Will yell at Stefano and wanted to know what exactly Sami’s son had done for Stefano.
It was nice to see Victor (John Aniston) and Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) again.
Victor: “I’ve been waiting 30 years for the police to handle DiMera and look what that’s gotten me. Roman Brady doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. Look what’s happened under his watch.”
