I wish they'd just let him rest in peace. The Abbotts have been destroyed as a family, and I can't take seeing that hideous tan. I liked John well enough but the character is gone, and patronizing visits with the last few Abbotts serve little purpose.

John returning as a ghost time and time again makes it even more difficult IMO. Either bring him back alive or leave him. And since the writers ain't interested in the Abbott family these days I don't know what's the point.

It's just like with these short visits of Lauralee Bell ... you bring them on to bring the show's history to the screen, but in the end it does nothing because everything that happens is meaningless. It's always only for a small number of episode.

Either write a decent storyline for all these vets or stop bringing them back. -.-

Well, it is good that he is willing to come back after the atrocious dismissal he got earlier. I just means this means Abbott family bonding time. I don't want Jack to be alone now this Ashley's leaving.

i wonder if Ashley dies and John comes back to take her to heaven, like he did with Colleen??

I wonder if John's ghost could spirit up a new head writing team and more character-driven stories I/O the plot-driven crap being hurled at us now!

This Ricky/Paul/Craig Hunt plot currently playing out is so derivative of "A Kiss Before Dying", it's not even funny!!

He's probably gonna advise his "beauty" to get out of Dodge.

Y&R did a HUGE mistake killing off John Abbott and as much as we all love seeing him come back ... its been to long since his last visit... his returns always make the abbotts look a little CRAZY having conversations with their father like that. I wish it looked as though they were taking a nap or fell asleep or rested their heads on their desks to look up and see him there.

It's always when they turn around. Jack, Ashley, Billy and it sort of is creepy. Think about it, Jack is resting on the sofa after his rehab, closes his eyes and then opens to see dad there. When dad leaves, we see Jack in the same spot as before but now happier for the visit.

The same with Ashley. She could be at Jabot and starts thinking about Tucker and starts to tear up, she rests her head on her desk to look up and it's Dad there to console. Then when it's all said and done, she's back in the same spot raising her head and smiling because her father gave her the confidence to move on.

With Billy, he could be resting on the sofa holding his son, leans back, closes his eyes, opens them and there is dad to say he is proud of how he is a good father to his 2 kids and Vicki's son, Reed. Cut to Billy in the same spot, opening his eyes and saying something like "I'm only following your lead, dad"

It would make life in the big GC a little less freaky.

@ pjc722...YOU SAID IT! One of the biggest blunders on Y&R's watch is having John die, he was the "heart & soul" for the Abbott family...aka "Maureen Bauer was to the Bauers"! I think that would be spot on with your idea that Ashley knows she has to get away from the madness in GC...flying back to LA Wink John needs to go visit his "beauty" in her time of need. Sad(

IA I wish they would let John RIP. I realize they do this because they know killing off John was a complete f-up but enough is enough. The Abbotts have been decimated. Jack is the lovable loser and Billy a waste of space.

OH MY GOD. This is beyond RIDICULOUS. The Idiots in Charge need to now admit that killing John was/is a big mistake as they no longer have a Moral Center and the Lunatics are now in Charge of the Asylum.

These guys/girls cannot have it BOTH WAYS. Either you bring him back (don't know how they would do this without losing what little credibility this show has left- oh, let's face it, they have ZERO credibility left) or they let the character of John Abbott Rest In Peace. This bringing back GHOST JOHN is utterly RIDICULOUS. Full stop.

The more they trot out Ghost John, the more ridiculous they become and the less competent their writers seem. This is just...UGH!

They made a mistake by killing John. Not only was he the heart and soul of the Abbott family, he was the heart and soul of Y&R. Katherine...for example, benefited from John's existence. As did Victor.

Now...he only shows up as a ghost to scold Jack.

thecourt99 ... which is why I've never understood Katherine's apparent undying loyalty to Victor when all Victor does is ridicule and try to decimate anything Abbott; including also his now and then wife Nikki (Katherine's purported BBF).

Bartman202 ... I understand but don't quite get your "A Kiss Before Dying" reference. The antagonist in that book/movie was driven by greed and dreams of higher social status. (By the way ... in the book the identical twins are actually identical triplets.)

I'm also starting to wonder if it is at all possible that Ricky's Mother is behind the scenes pulling all the strings and is poised to make a stunning grand entrance.

The most tanned ghost in soaps makes his return...

Poor Jerry Douglas. I would love to have someone pick his brain about the current state of Y&R in comparison to the golden years, if he wasn't afraid to be honest, or course.

What I meant is the set-up: Paul keeps tracking down these people who can shed light on all things Ricky and all of a sudden, they turn up dead, just like in both film versions.

Bartman202 ... got you (but of course that is a staple).

The more I think about it all though ... I would not be all that surprised to see Isabella pop up out of the blue. (It would be nice to see Eva Longoria reprise her role ... it would not be stunt casting and she can also act.)

LML's 2nd greatest mistake, killing off John Abbott. If they are going to 'ghost' him all of the time, give the ghost some major screen time. This stunt casting with him, Crickety, Danny, is all BS.

I feel bad that Ricky is being turned into the 'psycho' of the month. I think that Pete Porte is a good actor, that he's got the looks, and could be the future of the Show. If the Show is going to turn into a high-school/college bi+ch-fest of Summer, Fen, Eden, and Kyle, I may not set the DVR to record. Although I am looking forward to seeing Summer in all of the hair and body glory. (Should I feel guilty cause she's so young?)
