General Hospital: Perkie's Observations

Mac asks Anna to take his job, because the mayor wants to hire someone else that no one will like.  Anna doesn’t want to take it from Mac, but he says he did his best and it’s time to move on. He says the town needs her.

John offers his condolences to Jason and asks about Sam.  Jason explains what happened with the shed and how he knew the baby was dead before picking him up. He says Sam said the baby wasn’t hers.  John understands Sam’s rationalization.  He feels he should have tried harder to get her to the hospital before the delivery, but Jason says Sam should have been home with him. The baby would be alive if he’d been born in the hospital.  Jason says he appreciates what John has done, but he’ll take it from here.  Police officers arrive to take Jason to the PCPD.

Heather wants to chat with Todd, who’s less than enthusiastic.  She tells him not to dismiss her, as she’s done her research and knows exactly who he is.  She points out that Tea will blame him for her baby’s death.  Todd asks if she’s threatening him, but she claims it’s all just conversation.  Todd promises to keep quiet about Anthony, but Heather says she didn’t kill him; she’s just covering for who did.  Heather doesn’t want anyone, especially Olivia, to find out about Anthony and in return she’ll keep Todd’s secret about the baby.

Tea asks Sam about her baby and Sam admits he didn’t make it.  Tea offers her condolences and mentions her baby not having his father.  She complains that the baby can be fussy and Sam offers to try to pacify him.  Alexis arrives with Kelly and insists Sam get her rest.

Tracy’s upset with the conditions and the treatment at the PCPD.  Luke warns her to dial it down a notch, since she’s making them look guilty. They need to find out who really killed Anthony.  He tells her to stop talking to the police, since they aren’t her friends.

Felicia wants to get a petition going to reinstate Mac, but he tells her that Anna took the job and he’s happy about it.  Felicia wants to know what he’ll do now.  He points out that they almost kissed and doesn’t want to miss an opportunity.  Felicia says she’s scared.

Anna meets with her new police men and informs them that she’s going to be doing things by the book. She plans to build a department the city can trust and be proud of.   She meets with Lacey and admonishes Luke for not calling her.  Luke apologizes for worrying her, but says his one call was to his attorney.  Tracey asks if someone can either call Alexis or the new commissioner.  Anna announces that she’s the new commissioner.

Kelly tells Sam that they’ve determined the cause of the baby’s death, but something doesn’t add up.  She reminds Sam that they were worried about thalisimia, but it turns out there was no sign of it in the baby.  She does explain that the baby tested positive for haemophilia, which is a blood disorder and wonders if there’s a history in the family.  Sam questions why it wasn’t caught sooner and thinks it’s all a mistake and her baby is still alive.

Kelly says babies in utero are tricky and you can easily miss something.  Kelly says the baby died of respiratory failure.  Sam asks if it would have made a difference if she’d been in the hospital. Kelly admits they would have put him on a ventilator but there are still no guarantees.

Tea says she’ll need to keep an eye on the baby’s condition and is just glad that she didn’t pass on her own condition of haemophilia to the baby, since it can be fatal.  Tea wonders why Todd is in such a hurry to get them back home.  They run into Heather and Tea thanks her for helping with the baby.  Heather says things could get sticky if Todd doesn’t keep his mouth shut.

Tea wonders what that’s about and Heather says she was talking to Todd and he ran off rather rudely.  She says she doesn’t like people knowing her business and worries since Todd runs a newspaper.  Todd swears he’ll respect her privacy. Heather says she’s glad they understand each other.

Luke wants Anna to drop the charges but Anna says she can’t since she knows Tracy was unhappy in her marriage and tends to turn to Luke.  She won’t tolerate another cover up.  Luke tells her to talk to Johnny.

Jason is brought into the PCPD and is surprised to see that Anna had him brought in.  Anna tells him she’s the new commissioner. She knows this will make things awkward, since he and Robin were friends, and that she’s grateful to him for that.  But she points out that they are on opposite sides. She can’t look the other way when he has a police officer beaten up.  Anna says she knows what Jason did to John.

Anna says she knows he was responsible and that it won’t happen again.  She understands the tension between them, because of Sam. If he had confronted John himself that would have been fine, but he dealt with it by sending Sonny’s men to send a message.  Anna says she has a message for Jason. If he does anything, she will investigate it and build a case and prosecute him.  Jason says he understands.

John stops by to see Sam, so Alexis leaves them to talk.  Sam wants to know why he didn’t come back to get them as promised.  John says he ran into some trouble.  The nurse brings in Sam’s lunch and tells her she needs to take care of herself and so does John.  John leaves and Sam asks the nurse what she meant.  The nurse tells her that John had his ribs taped because he was given a bad beating.

Alexis tells Luke there is no evidence that Anthony was killed. Lacey are being released, but that if he does show up dead, Luke will be the first one suspected.  Luke thanks Anna for releasing them, but she says she won’t be giving him any special treatment. She begs him not to get arrested in the next 24 hours.  Luke promises to do what he can for her.

When Jason gets back to Sam’s room, she says she wants to ask him something. However, he says he needs to tell her that he was coming to her to talk and that she was right, he would have loved the baby because he was part of her.

Heather is gloating that things are too easy and she’s getting away with it all.  She says the baby will have a better life with Tea then with these parents and opens the DNA results which show that Jason is the baby’s father.

Have I ever mentioned how much I absolutely adore Anna Devane because after today, I want to marry the woman!!! Love, love, love that she hauled Jason's sorry butt down to the PCPD and informed him that she knew what he'd done and that he won't be doing it again. I think he actually looked a tiney bit scared.

I was really hoping Sam was going to get to ask Jason if he beat up John. Show, please don't deny me that come Monday.

Heather's getting far too careless.

Please tell me that's the last of Tea and her screeching.

Kelly is the worst doctor, evah. Eh, crap happens. What kind of reassurance is that?

I love the idea of you marrying Anna. I wish you would let me be your flower girl, but that's unlikely. (I've loved Anna since AMC, though, so I hope I can get on her good side!) Wink

You know, I'm having a funny weekend. I write occasionally about how I love soaps but I'm not emotionally invested in them. I love them because they are fun to watch, I can only think of a handful of times in my life where I ever felt emotionally invested in shows (when Henry Blake died on M*A*S*H, when Edith Bunker died on Archie Bunker's Place and the season 5 finale of Knots Landing, when everyone finds out that Gary is still alive as Val collapses from shock while pregnant with the twins and Abby is being driven away by her kidnappers and Karen gets shot by mistake).

But this morning, I woke up thinking about Mad Men. With the season finale tomorrow night, I am completely immersed in what might happen on that show!

I can't help but compare it to GH, which keeps me up at night NEVER! I can't remember a time when any soap has (as much as I enjoy them).

The thing about Mad Men is that there are a lot of characters I care about and I have no idea where their storylines are going. They keep me guessing ALWAYS.

Meanwhile, GH has a baby switch. We know Sam will get her baby back eventually. We have the murder of Anthony. We know Johnny will get his comeuppance. We have Kate/Connie, who will get off for causing the crash that killed Cole and Hope. We know they are planning to put Michael and Starr together. We know nothing will ever happen to Sonny or Luke or Tracy. blahblahblahMaxieblahblahblah. And on and on and on.

I devote five hours a week to GH and the return on my entertainment value is minimal. I watch Mad Men 13 hours every year or so, and I'm completely wrapped up in their lives.

What's wrong with this picture?

Shouldn't the people in charge of GH be writing at least ONE storyline with some suspense? We can see what's coming in each subplot from miles away. These writers don't seem to be working as though they are trying to save their jobs, but they ARE, now more than ever.

Unless they are following orders to be mediocre to drive fans away, so they can cancel the show once and for all, I just don't get it.

Perkie, if you marry Anna, please let me plan the wedding!!!

I haven't watched this episode. Just coming here for a recap so I could save my brain cells. But thanks to your summary, I'm going to my DVR right now.

This show needs Anna Devane so badly. It's so drowning in misogyny that I can hardly believe they might actually be making a woman into a powerful figure again...possibly for the first time since Wendy Riche was fired.

Do I dare say that I have hope again?

Perkie, if you marry Anna, can I be a bouncer at the wedding? Cuz you know Luke will show up and claim he's developed feelings for Anna and I wanna be the one to throw him out on his butt! Hee... hee...

I'm glad they had Sam put the pieces together of why McBain didn't show up with the car, although I'd have rather her overheard the two boys fighting about it. Jason asked if he could tell her something first before she asked her question, then stood there and told her that bit about how he had finally decided he could love her baby, but didn't continue on to mention the part about why McBain didn't show up with the car. Please, please, please Sam, be strong and give this douchebag what he's got coming with both barrels.

I thought the stuff between Sam and Tea was good. Tea is awesome when she's not screaming. I really think Tea and Sam could've been friends in different circumstances. It would be nice for Sam to have a friend who isn't stuck up either Sonny or Jason's butt or have histories with them and could tell her true about things.

I found it unbelievable that McBain and Jason would stand there and have a civil conversation together.

Tea's line to Todd about Heather as the elevator doors were closing was hilarious! I'm guessing Olivia is next on Heather's hit list and I can't wait to see that. Heather's bat shyte crazy, but I've wanted Mama Pasta gone for so long now that I don't care how she goes!

I loved Jasons expression. It some how reminded me of when a teenager gets in trouble with his best friends parents. I don't know if it's just me but I feel a shift in the town of PC- no more good guy mob kings. I also feel like we will see more people coming out on the side of the law and not just siding with Jason and Sonny..

Still loving my Kemo- she is rocking her scenes. Still missing some characters.. Hopefully next week we will get to see them..

TV Gord, I too am devoted to Mad Men, my mom who got me hooked on soaps 35 years ago brought Mad Men into my life with this season's opening episode and I cant believe there is only one more ep(2 for me, I am saving last weeks ep) for the foreseeable future.

I love serials, continuing drama or comedy, so I watch The Good Wife, Modern Family, Parks& Rec, Homeland, Fringe, The Closer and other cable dramas. I am not even going to name some gone too soon shows or the shows I dont watch. My point how did daytime go so wrong when nighttime seems to going so right?

For those GH fans that never watched OLTL or even AMC, the current JaSam 2.0 baby and paternity switch story line is probably awesome. IMO it falls flat because in order to bring over those OLTL fans to GH, we had to see the same 2011 story lines repeated with people in Port Charles instead of Llanview. John dumping Natalie and Liam since he was not the biological Daddy. Jason not wanting Sam's baby Franco since he was not the biological Daddy. Jessica/Tess/Mess/Wess/Less and all of the of the ofter "sses" DID story line now being played out by Kate/Connie/fill in the blank. Bo Buchanan being fired by the Mayor for not doing his job. Mac being fired by the Mayor for not doing his job. John/Kelly hook up on OLTL after he finds out that Liam is not his son. John/Sam hook up in the works now that the baby is "dead". Starr singing on OLTL. Starr will now sing on GH. Legacy soap babies being killed off as either a replacement, to free up a teenage girl for a love interest or to give Tea/Todd/Sam/John/Jason/Heather a story. Marty taunting Natalie about baby Liam and having a copy of the DNA test that showed John was the baby Daddy all along! Heather having a copy of the DNA test that showed Jason was the baby Daddy all along. Pfft. RC essentially scratched out the characters from OLTL and inserted the characters from GH!

I, too, am beginning to think that FV/RC were told to simply keep GH going until a cheap replacement can be made available.

Dr. Lee said that Jason Jr, (lol) aka Victor Lord, Jr. was dead and that an autopsy had already been performed that showed a respiratory problem.

Tea is all kinds of awesome, and would never put her baby in jeopardy if there was a potential respiratory problem at birth. Jeez. Tea would tell everyone within a fifty mile radius and even tweet that her baby with Victor could have breathing issues! I think the whole "respiratory" issue came up at the last minute, because otherwise Tea would have known when her baby didn't cry that he was probably dead.

Parents are Sam and Jason Morgan!!! Party

I enjoyed almost the entire hour except for the Todd and Tea scenes. I just can't bring myself to like a raping, kidnapping, murdering, child stealing clown and a woman who shrieks and screams half of her lines. Having watched OLTL for over 30 years, those characters were two of my least favorite.

Kelly Monaco was BRILLIANT once again!!!!! Love Love

Wonderful to see Alexis doing both her job AND taking care of her daughter! And interacting with so many more characters. Loved her scenes with Sam!!

Loved all the Luke/Anna/Tracy/Alexis scenes!!! Love Four extremely talented actors giving us fabulous performances.

Loved the Sam and John scenes!!! I cannot wait until Sam confronts Jason about having John beaten up!!!

Heather isn't just crazy. She's evil incarnate!!!

It was nice to see Mac but why does it sound like they're writing him off GH? That does not make me happy!

It's nice to see so many extras at the hospital and the police station. I've noticed for a few weeks now that there are many more extras everywhere... at Kelly's, at The Floating Rib, at the hospital, at the police station. Even Alexis's law firm got a new attorney. Finally Port Charles has more than a dozen people living in it!!

Having had Max 4 years ago, though he has requested to return to 3 because he liked being 3, there are so many tests that an expectant mother esp. the late 30s/early 40s Tea and the had an operation just to concieve Sam but add in the fact that both had markers for genetic disorders and an already ridiculous story becomes impossible.

As for the OneLife connection, at least Marty was a doctor who might have a reason to be in the lab and an access code for the computer, Heather on the other hand takes the story from a suspension of belief/reality to forget everything you know about anything.

I think the continual hints about thalissemia will be the way they bring the baby back to Sam and Jason (or Sam and McBain--yuck!). The baby with thalissemia will definitely need a bone marrow transplant and neither Tea or Todd (Victor's twin brother) will be a match---meaning the child can't be Tea's.
Tea will want to save the child and bring it back to Port Charles so Sam can give the baby some bone marrow. I guess Todd will have to spill the beans.

ps..i hate that they are pushing us into McBam by 'destroying' Jason. I'd rather they kill him off heroically that do so much OOC assasination.

TVGord - Loved your post. I'm not a MM devotee. My passion is Grey's and their season finale shattered my heart. I was haunted for days. GH? Barely keeps me engaged. I've little to no interest in the mobbies, don't care about the OLTL-ers. There's no real focus on any of the other characters who aren't mob related. I feel as if I've lost my soap. It SUCKS!

I hope next week is light on the baby switch story and the OLTL-ers. I don't care about Jasam's fake angst cause like you said, they will get their baby. Please RC, give us all a break and start writing for the rest of the PC cast.

It's another plotpoint. It was never ever mentioned on OLTL but the only child Tea had before this one is a girl, so perhaps that's why it was never mentioned.

I'm trying to wrap my head arond this storyline and can't. First of all, they did an a_topsy (keyboard on comp_ter is not working so the letter after T and before V does not work, sorry, I ain't an idiot.) on Sam's baby and noticed the conditions and Sam said "that proves the baby is not mine and mine is alive (and sitting in the hallway on Tea's lap)!

Why didn't Sam ask to have her blood matched to the childs? Serio_sly, she's in the hospital j_st have the test to find o_t if yo_ have the disease so that any other kids yo_ might have don't have this condition.

I am on record saying GH is on it's way off the air. I don't think with the bad plots being written now that the show will be worth saving.

And for the person who made the connections on here abt all the similiar plots with OLTL and GH now, GOOD CATCH!! I wasnt the biggest fan of OLTL and it's ratings were low and it's stories were as bad as we are seeing on here. Granted, before the new regime, the stories on GH were bad too. Still get head my ard the fact that L_ke killed his grandson dr_nk and isn't behind bars and people feel sorry for him doing it.

I believe Tea said she was a carrier of the hemophilia gene, and does not actually have the condition. If she conceives a child (especially a male child) with another carrier of the gene, chances are good that the child will have the condition. It is definitely something they never brought up before, but then they never brought up her having a daughter with Todd until they decided it was convenient. That's soaps for ya.

I may be filling in the blanks but I took john being civil to jason as being one part his guilt over not getting sam to the hospital and one part knowing that his fighting with jason as being the one thing that would not be good for sam now. Jason was civil with john because as mad as he still is that john is hanging around, he knows what he did to him kept him from returning.

I also think sam is being matter of fact with everyone so she doesnt break down like she did the last time and because she is angry at jason over him not accepting the baby and she doesnt want to be so shes being controlled up to the point she started putting two and two together. Right now shes in her mental place in her mind but when she goes to the emotional jasons going to be lucky she doesnt truly rip him apart. Where I dont think jason meant it when he told sam he would kill her, he had jake back at the time and while jason did consider lila as his own that loss and the loss of hope was not nearly as devastating to him as it was to Sam. Considering all that shes lost in the last five years - her brother, her daughter, the daughter she was going to adopt and now her son - I think she is going to explode in a way that is going to be of nuclear proportion.

Funny, because that means Tea had a very high risk pregnancy and would run the risk of bleeding out during delivery. She should have been a LOT more worried about giving birth in the conditions she did. Does ReRon even know what a haemophyliac is?

After the autoposy the baby switch should have move into another gear, Sam's CVS testing should not match anything with Tea's son(both mother and father). Tea's medically history means nothing unless she and Sam are now unknown twins.

Besides the fact that both Sam and John knows how little Danny looks (I refused to acknowledge that Sam would name her son after Jason and not her loving/supportive dead brother)they should be able to id that this is not the same baby, one look at Tea's child should yield the same results.

There is just so many times you can use the excuse that this is a soap when writing a storyline, this one is weak and has too many plot holes.

On Friday's show Tea was explaining to Todd that she didn't actually have the disease herself but only that she was a genetic carrier. And its more common for boys to inherit than girls. It was never mentioned on OLTL at any time when she was telling the story of how her daughter Danielle came to be. And she told that story many times to many people. Beyond that, there are huge holes in this story that you could run a truck through! Sad

Here's a question...it looked like baby Victor wasn't breathing at birth, as in, never even took a breath. Unlike baby Danny (I also refuse to call that gorgeous baby Jason). Wouldn't the autopsy have shown that the dead baby never even took a breath? That was never said to Sam as far as I can tell but should have been.

That's what i was afraid of too, the minute the mayor fired him. Certainly made me think that the new ptb are getting rid of yet another GHer, to insert a former OLTLer. But I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything. hey, did I hear Blair is coming back?????

Blair IS coming back, Perkie. They're also firing Jane Elliott, to make way for Roxy (who will be paired with Luke), and next to go after her is the actor who plays Coleman, who will be replaced by Carlotta Vega as the bar owner. Carlotta will be paired with Luke, as well.
