HomeTVCBSThe Newman Divas Face Off on The Young and the Restless! Jillian Bowe June 11, 2012 CBS, Promos & Previews, Soap Opera, The Young and The Restless 37 Comments It was only a matter of time before Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Sharon (Sharon Case) squared off over Victor (Eric Braeden). This week on The Young and the Restless, Victor's ladies go for blood. It boggles the mind these two sophisticated women are fighting over Victor's giblets and gravy… Watch the smackdown after the jump! 37 Responses Camp is not a sustainable model June 11, 2012 Well next week Sharon sleeps with Murphy. Then in July she’ll just throw herself up on the table at the coffee-shop and let all the male customers have her so that the extra’s get some more pay. It is obvious that Maria wishes she was a hoe when she was younger and is living it out vicariously through Sharon. You’d think that for a show headed by a Republican female (Maria’s a Republican) that she would have more self respect for the female characters. I’m not saying that your politician affiliation denotes what you will write. Yet, Agnes was as liberal as they come and she wrote her female characters with more self-respect and nuances even when they were engaged in questionable behaviors. But then again you got a 60 + year old and a 40 something year woman fighting over a Nursing home candidate? Log in to Reply Bartman202 June 11, 2012 More hashing and re-hashing the same old stuff between slutty Sharon & boozehag Nikki, no matter whom the man may be – Nick, Jack, Victor – all of this has become tedious and boring to us “Y & R” viewers. If there is one spark of creativity in Maria Arena Bell, it sure hasn’t been shown in the 4+ years of bad story-telling!! I just hope the ratings continue to fall and she will be replaced – “Tick, tick, tick!” (to quote Victor) Log in to Reply Jon June 11, 2012 No actual woman in her right mind would fight over that 73 year old goat! Nikki and Sharon could do so much better! Log in to Reply marybee50 June 11, 2012 I keep thinking Y&R can not get worse, and yet it does.I’m not able to watch it right now because my cable is out.Maybe this is a blessing(except I’m missing Days too)because I read the recap for today’s Y&R and am just shaking my head. Sharon is ruined.Nikki is on her way there. There are more parts to FF thru than watch. There was a glimmer of hope when Victor dumped Sharon, but I really hate to think about the stories to come.Victor still seeking revenge on Jack for BON,the soarsed teens,Nikki and Sharon in a catfight, and,of course, the Phyllis crap. The best parts right now are Eden and Noah, and Ricky’s crazy crusade, not much else.So sad. Log in to Reply SwanQueen59 June 11, 2012 And this is why, even with Nikki and Jack kinda/sorta being together, I can only take Y&R in small does now. Victor (like the bully on GH) is iredeemable (my view here), and only serves his own self interest. Sharon is an empty husk who is now a tiresome annoyance. I say this with no joy as I loved her and Nick, back in the day before MAB (along with a few others), tore this rich and varied tapestry to shreds. Shame on her for the betrayal of Bill Bell’s legacy… 0:) Log in to Reply tedew June 11, 2012 david46208 … you do have to cut MTS a little slack here … she really is just 56 right now. However … Nikki for some reason is one Genoa City resident that I have not cared for very much for quite a while for many reasons. Basically I find her an unctuous, extremely self righteous, troubled, confused triple murderer and very much the social climbing dowager matriarch Sharon knows her to be. Of course Sharon can’t really talk (I’ve never understand why some here even think she was ever a decent human being) but she does hit it right on the mark when it comes to her sworn enemies; which is one small part of her that I actually very much enjoy. But come on … do we really need yet another version of long ago iconic mud fight? Can’t Nikki just let Victor go and get on with a happier life? Why really is Sharon interested at all? I’d still think it would be quite amusing for Sharon to somehow find herself to be Victor’s widow. That would be something for all to contend with. Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon June 11, 2012 I seriously wonder why these soaps keep shooting themselves in the foot. I’d go even further and say not one of the four Executive Producers appears to have a lick of business sense. Over and over, we are told that the target demographic for soaps is 18-49-year-old women. I doubt that there is any woman alive who enjoys watching her peers acting like a fool, making stupid choices, and being all weak and needy over a man. (David, that post is killing me. ) Log in to Reply soapjunkie88 June 11, 2012 The old goat must be loving this. Two women fighting over Victor should be illegal. I don’t know what else they can do to my Sharon. MAB ruined her completely. I feel so sorry for Sharon Case. And I don’t know what’s going on at Sony and CBS. Don’t they get that we need a change in the writing team. If you don’t want or can’t fire MAB at least fire these two co-heads of hers. If Sheffer and Hamner were gone and Sony/CBS would hire some two more capable co-heads. Bring back Alden and Smith, take a little bit of MAB’s power away and this really could work. Y&R can’t stay in this horrific state. -.- Log in to Reply pumpkin June 11, 2012 When I read the posts I just think that TPTB just don’t care about the shows anymore. There are so many negative remarks but they keep doing the same thing over and over. I see a lot of remarks about Victor and that the Y&R missed opportunities with excellent actors coming on the show and then they were given terrible material and the show goes back to the same old same old. Same is done on GH. So many sick of mob stuff but it isn’t going anywhere. They are not even slowing it down. Jason the stiff is still front and center knocking people off for Sonny. So where is the general overall improvement that was promised the fans. Huh…. Seems to me all the soap writers and producers have given up and are just putting in time until they are cancelled. Too bad…It is a definite pattern on all the shows. Log in to Reply Mel_O June 11, 2012 [quote=tedew]But come on … do we really need yet another version of long ago iconic mud fight? TGVN dies and leaves Sharon everything…I could even forgive the atrocious character assassination of Sharon if that actually came to be. Log in to Reply Islandof1 June 11, 2012 It is like MAB is stuck for how to write for either woman. Oh and why would anyone fight over the Black Knight in the first place? Log in to Reply Ryan-Scott June 11, 2012 Melody Thomas Scott is 56. Log in to Reply Ken June 11, 2012 Maybe for once they will surprise us and Nikki and Sharon’s fight over Victor will be for WHO HAS TO TAKE HIM! Log in to Reply Camp is not a sustainable model June 11, 2012 @tedew: You know you got something there. I’ve always said that at the end of the day Nikki and Victor should not ride off into the sunset together. That is if the show were to be written well. Victor should either be shot to death or was hauled off to prison Madoff style. That is at the very end of Y&R. Yet while it still is on-air and Sony seems to want to keep a foothold in the American market, it is time to page Sally and let her be the single handed last shot at saving this show. http://sallysussman.com/yandr.htm Log in to Reply The_Moustache June 11, 2012 Nikki is HARDLY sophisticated. ain’t she an ex-hooker/stripper or something?? how is that sophisticated? did she wear a tutu during her sessions? Log in to Reply Cyberologist June 11, 2012 tedew I’m with you on this one… I am a MTS fan it took nearly two decades for me to even like Nikki Newman then when I firmly did she just became a Victor Newman cheerleader after constantly being verbally abused by this man she leaves him then comes back he calls her a bunch a names and the cycle repeats & repeats…I’m just not interested in any smackdown Nikki gives anybody re: Victor. Log in to Reply Camp is not a sustainable model June 11, 2012 @everyone: A good battle would have been Nikki vs. Jill. They were always on the cusps of a rivalry. Yet it never fully materialized. That is where it should have went. Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 June 12, 2012 I am not a huge fan of “Sharing” Newman, but I am glad that she is finally giving Tricktoria and Nikki a taste of their own medicine. Nikki knows that her past is checkered and she ain’t no saint, and Tricktoria is nothing but an entitled, spoiled little brat, just like Abby. In past scenes, she would just stand there with a blank look on her face as they lit into her. Turnabout is fair play. Glad to see her fighting fire with fire. But I find it sad that I really can’t side with ANY of these women. Nikki often comes across as just arrogant and snotty. Tricktoria is weak and needy. And Sharon….where should I start? It would take me HOURS to explain all the crap that is wrong with this character, and all the ways that Bell has ruined her. No horse in this race, but good for Sharon getting a backbone!! Log in to Reply NathanHastingsSr. June 12, 2012 I’ve always loved Nikki and Sharon ‘s strained relationship… Log in to Reply ChrisGa June 12, 2012 @Tedew & david46208: spot-on regarding Victor, who became irredeemable years ago and just keeps chugging along fairly unscathed(again, like that mob bastard on GH). It’s sad that these producers and writers can’t see what they’re doing to this show; I still can’t imagine a universe where any viewer(or scribe that honors show history)would want to see a woman taking up with two of her exes’ father and then fight her ex-mother-in-law for him. The whole scenario is beyond me; these writers–and the woman that’s behind the whole steaming pile of shit–seriously need to be fired like yesterday. Log in to Reply Yoryla June 12, 2012 Except in the very beginning in 1994 when Sharon premiered, I have never really liked her. I have always found her whiny, stupid, desperate and forgetting her roots. I still don’t like her, but the one thing I do like is that she won’t take the crap anymore. It just should have happened a long time ago. She is always standing up for herself in the wrong time. You remember in 2003 when she abandoned her children and was a whiny mess and THEN came back and declared herself this new powerful human being. And that is certainly a time when she should’ve been humble. Now it is the same damn thing. She is always a push-over when she should be strong, and vice-versa. That is just so annoying. I am 100% on Team Nikki in Nikki vs. Sharon. Log in to Reply Mets82 June 12, 2012 I think they are both in love with Victor, especially for all that goes with it. The money, the noterity, the planes, the fortunes, etc. Hell, Im a 30 yr. old straight male and with all of Victor’s money and fortune, even I would fight for him!! lol Log in to Reply RealityCheck 33 June 12, 2012 Nikki loves Victor, but he’s a douchebag. As a result, she’s latched on to Jack the loser once again. It won’t last more than six months, if that long. Victor has a bigger money maker than silly little Jack. Sharon loves Adam, but she over reacted to his past deeds because the idiots that run this show broke them up. They are hugely popular with fans of the show and eventually, the morons will put them back together if they have any brains. The show is a bore right now except for Ricky Williams’ vendetta against Phyllis, the bitch. BTW, the morons in-charge are going to dump Ricky soon, so there will be no reason the watch this shitfest. Log in to Reply The_Moustache June 12, 2012 when is Sharon getting pregnant by Victor??? Log in to Reply hey mon June 12, 2012 Hilarious. Hope for Viagra men everywhere, to have 2 women fighting over you. Go Victor, go Victor! But seriously, run Eileen Davidson, run, get out while you can. There is no room for smart, classy businesswomen in GC today. Log in to Reply sallyv June 12, 2012 I’m closer in age to Victor than either of these women and I would run screaming into the night if that Moustache came anywhere near me. The sanctimonious old man needs to finally be taught a lesson and pay for his crimes, but of course he never will. I guess the one thing we can hope for is that his contract negotiations go poorly and he quits the show. Then they can kill him off. Or send him to prison to be brought back one day by a new and improved actor. Log in to Reply MsAgentProvocateur1 June 12, 2012 The NICKNAMES for these characters have become HILARIOUS: Share A Bed/Sharing = Sharon SyPhyllis/The Red Menace = Phyllis Dickolas/Ridiculous = Nicholas Stripperella = Nikki Satan’s Understudy = Adam Mr. Mumbles = Victor Jackass/Sir Loves A Lot = Jack These nicknames are more amusing than the show now. These thing with Nikki and Sharon is not even a storyline, just a few scenes. Not even worth comment from me, as everyone’s already said it all. I thought Nelson Branco (in his web magazine) said that “big changes” were afoot over at Y&R. To expect some “big announcements” come June 1st. What happened there? How come Maria and Co. aren’t in the unemployment line? Why are they allowed to continue to destroy this once-fine show?? Log in to Reply Camp is not a sustainable model June 12, 2012 @Coffee_Junkie: Yeah I would like to see these big announcement. The biggest announcement would be that Maria Hell, Scott Slammer and Hogan Heifer were given their walking papers. This so-called team of writers couldn’t write, cast and direct a pre-school tea pot play. Log in to Reply Camp is not a sustainable model June 12, 2012 @everyone: Soaps-in-Depth used Victoria’s Rowell’s likeness again to try and sell magazines. I saw a picture of her inserted on the most recent cover with the words under it saying “RETURN CONFIRMED!” So I picked it up at the newsstand, flipped through it till I got to a page with an image of Vicky as Dru and Kristoff as Neil in a scene from Y&R. It was an old scene. Yet all they had to report was that she was going to be appearing on Single Ladies. Well duh! We knew that already. Anyone with a computer or smartphone with internet could have figured that out, as long as you followed the soap news. I wish they would stop doing that to try and sell some magazines. Don’t report on her unless Y&R is actually bringing her back to the show. And Vicky should sue for royalties off of her likeness being used. But then again they have the freedom to mislead soap fans so that they try and sell the soap rag. Yet the way in-which they conduct journalistic business is not good. Not good at all. Log in to Reply soapjunkie88 June 12, 2012 Yeah … there was supposed to be some big news. Some big change in the air. Wonder what happened with that. With support from Billy, Victoria, Chloe and Kevin. Everyone over 45 will be used to advise the younger cast, in their life problems. Log in to Reply tedew June 15, 2012 How can it be that Phyllis can suddenly prepare for an instant wedding, have a histrionic encounter with Daisy, have a miscarriage and all that would entail medically speaking time wise, then actually get married, then discover Daisy on surveillance footage, etc all in one day? It yet again defies logic. Why did I find Ashley so annoying and hypocritical during her confrontation with Jack? Plus Ashley, your daughter Abby is purportedly an adult with much money of her own to make sound business decisions with it as she pleases. But at least the women of Genoa City have nothing to fear from the drastically changed new Heather so desperate to get her L-Word apartment back all to herself. Log in to Reply Mets82 June 15, 2012 I saw the Sharon/Nikki fight today and it was good and cheesy. Some of the stuff they did like throw salt and hay at each other was corny but I liked the fight. Only thing is that they should have been more aggressive with each other. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
