Nice speach but I have a problem with people winning emmys or any other major award that they can not be bothered to attend to recieve. People are honoring you and saying that you are the best in your field at something. Unless the award is posthumous, or you have some sort of catastrophe, you should be there. Unless ofcourse that people placing you on this level doesn't have any meaning to you, then you should bow out at the nomination process and let someone else have the honor. I would even be for the idea that if you are a no show, the award goes to the next in line to win. It is just a snub to people who supported you be curled up in your jammies watching tweeting instead of being there.
I am reminded of when one third of the daytime awards show was a tribute to Oprah who couldn't be bothered to be in the audience. I love Oprah to death and think she is a great lady but after that I loved her a little less.
I am not even trying to pick on Nancy who I believe is one of daytimes greatest tallents ever (my personal in the top ten actresses on daytime ever). It is how I feel in general no matter which of these programs I am watching. I just watched the AFI lifetime acheivement award for Shirley MacClane. I can not even picture what that show would have been had she decided to watch from her family cabin in her jammies...... Thank God she was gracious enough to show up!

I have no problem with nominated actors not showing for the Daytime Emmys. Many things come up in life that can prevent someone from showing. Also, the Emmys have been such a disaster for years now, I really can't blame anyone for watching from the comforts of their home. NLG put up with nonsense of last year to watch Lexi Ainsworth's Emmy go to Brittany Allen!

Regarding NLG's win, I don't think she deserved the nomination so certainly not the win. She didn't have the material to warrant the nomination. Perhaps ego drives the decisions to submit yourself or a true lack of awareness of the work of others in your field, I dunno. But, Nancy Lee Grahn and the very talented Heather Tom did not deserve the recognitions although two great daytime actresses based on bodies of work. Currently, neither actress makes much impact on her show's canvas and storytelling.

Another thought that troubles me is how NLG routinely discusses "equality" and such on twitter yet actively participates in the flawed and unjust Emmy nomination and award system. Hmmm.

MARKNSPRMO - didnt you hear what she said about not being there. or do you have selective understanding. She explained herself. She never said she couldnt be bothered to attend. It was a 911 fund raiser. some of us go way out of our way for that stuff, which incidentily still goes on all the time.

Who cares if she could not make it. **** happens to all of us. I just don't understand all this beef with Nancy or any one else that did not make it to the Emmy's. Nancy has been there every year I think for the past five years, or more, which is more than I can say for a lot of other actors. Genie Francis was nominated, but did she show up? No.

She had a family commitment, which she made long before she knew when the Daytime Emmys would be scheduled. It isn't like in year's past, when the Daytime Emmys were held the same time year after year. With all this "will they happen, or won't they happen, and if they happen where will they be" drama each year, people can't refrain from making plans for most of the spring and summer months waiting on NATAS to get things lined up.

giogio you might listen to her explanation again. She was helping her nephew with a 911 fundraiser project. Not the actual fundraiser itself. I don't have selective hearing but apparently you do! Secondly I can accept that people do make other plans however these plans didn't sound that unbreakable to me. Families understand about work. Thirdly when she put herself in the ring for a nomination, she didn't know when the awards were going to be either, but she did put her hat in the ring.
It just seems to me when someone celebrates your acheivements, the least one could do is show up. But I am NOT trying to pick on NLG. I in general feel this way, unless that person is completely unable to come, they should show up! How would you feel if you threw someone a party, and they didn't come?

MARKNSPRMO - all my selective hearing heard was 911 fundraiser for her nephew and something about firefighters. She was infatic about being there for it. There could be alot of other reasons why she felt she had to be there, and not at the awards. Ive read else where on the boards someone say she didnt deserve to win because she wasnt there. Not everyone was there. Granted, I should not have said you had selective hearing, which in this instance you are right I did. But she has worked her ass off as a single mother for her kid on that show, and shows before GH and the lip she got from people about not being there was really unfair in my books. Sorry I offeded you about selective hearing, but I will defend her position.

Again my point is that I was NOT trying to pick on her specifically.
