Sigh. Stare If it's not a fascination with women being raped to propel story, I guess the old, tired go to mode of shooting firearms wil have to do. Stare I say again, RC DO YOU HAVE ANY OUNCE OF IMAGINATION???!!! Jeepers! If I didn't care so much about the state of this show I wouldn't say anything. And I wouldn't watch. But I do care. And I am just sick Sick and sad Sad at the same time. God bless every actor for being so professional playing this same old, same old. My admiration for them is boundless. I truly hope they find something worthwhile or redeeming (if that's possible), in the material they are being asked to perform ...Innocent

soapfan616- Smile kimmiej-This is just me speaking here and I mean no disrespect. But I think GH won more so for the immense talents of cast and crew. Their overall skill and committment portraying what was presented to them had more to do with their awards, as opposed to the material the writers gave them... Innocent

Enough already. Sonny and Jason have been the mainstays on GH for years. I am tired of everybody dissing them every time I look on these pages. I know that none of us like every story line but Sonny and Jason are my favorites. I am also glad to see John McBain and Todd come over from OLTL. I just wish that Blair would come for good instead of just a guest appearance now and then. But that's better than not at all. I don't think that it is bad to criticize stories that you don't like, but do it respectfully instead of getting all bent out of sorts and saying that it is stupid or worthless and that you are going to quit watching. Comments like that make me wonder how much you actually like soaps.

I didn't see anything on this thread that was disrespectful. In fact, I saw several comments PRAISING the quality of the actors on GH. Did you mean to post this comment here? You're accusing someone of getting "all bent out of sorts" yet it appears to this soap fan that it might be you who is upset. I know it must be difficult to enjoy a show that others are finding terribly flawed. But be proud of what you like. Tell us why you like it. Convince us to join you in your admiration for it. But no need to lash out at good soap fans who just don't share your same opinion. If I never saw a Sonny/Jason scene again, I'd be OK. But I am not upset with you because you enjoy them. And to question how much soap fans really like soaps? Really? Perhaps we love soaps so much and that is why it pains us deeply to see them become this playground for bad writers. In the end, it's a matter of taste. Yours is no better than mine and vice versa. Glad you love GH. I damn sure wish I did.

These writers have won NOTHING! That was the previous regime.

And if Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini don't change something about this show's story-telling, which is either so dark that they ruin three characters in the process or is too campy that you think you're watching OLTL 2.0, GH will be off the air very soon.

One Life to Live was a great show. Not a perfect show by any means, but a great show for the soap opera genre. Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini are good people who actually care about this genre. Their stories may not appeal to everyone (not everything they did on OLTL did it for me), but they care and are still fighting for soaps to survive and for that, I give em a round of applause. No one will ever please everyone.

Okay, I admit that maybe I was a little jumpy about the comment of guns ( I read Sonny and Jason into that). Yes, I do appreciate that you are still watching and hopefully enjoying parts of the story. And yes to all those who have seen these stories played out on OLTL, I too would like to see something different, but I do love to watch Sonny, Jason, John, and Todd. Todd is very good comedic relief from some of the heavier storylines. I particularly loved Todd and Spinelli. I would love to see more of them. I think that Maxie should wake up and realize that Spinelli loves her and she will never find anybody that cares as much for her. Sam needs to forgive Jason. Men just don't do feelings the way women do. Jason did come around and maybe it was a little late, but Sam knows that Jason does not lie. Maybe that's why I like him so much....he's a gangster that doesn't lie. I could totally see him joining forces with McBain and becoming a cop some time in the future.

I was happy to see Spinelli cut Maxie loose, last week, though. If she's not interested in him the way he is in her, they shouldn't be together. How long can a guy hang around being the "go to" guy, but never the "go to bed" guy?

I am loving everything about GH these days. Like Donny said, you can't please everyone. RC may have his own style of writing but at least he doesn't kill off entire families like the previous writers did with the Q's. Also if you are talking about Heather Webber when you say "campy", you do realize that she was always kind of a campy character. Some will not like RC just because and have not even given him a chance. I am loving that Tracy, Luke, Anna, and Heather are frontburner again. I wish that Alexis, Mac, and Felicia could also be frontburner. I think that the show is just going to get better and better.

Well said. I have often wondered how the conversations around here would ever invite people in to actually watch any of the soaps because people just seem to hate, hate, hate everything going on. You certainly aren't helping the genre by complaining about EVERYthing. For every rant, give a rave. There has to be SOMEthing you like. If not, well, maybe modern day Soap Operas aren't for you. (Because things aren't going to suddenly flip to the 1970's, 80's, or 90's writing again. It just isn't going to happen.)

Great more guns, cops who turn the other way AND AN AIRPLANE that Jason was somehow able to get a gun onto without it being detected. Unless he shipped it fedex.

I AM very close to being done with Daytime TV after over 30 years of loving it. The writers and producers do not listen to the fans or see that it's not the format that SUCKS its the stories, the writing and the damn ignorance of the showrunners who think they know what the fans want but not want we REALLY WANT.

What made Spinelli give up on Maxie? What was his breaking point? I saw the scene where Spinelli cut Maxie loose but what led him to this? He was always kind of had a puppy love type thing toward Maxie and didnt seem like she responded. I am glad that Spinelli finally grew a set and told Maxie off!!

I still don't understand how Carlivati and Valentini "love soaps." I've never seen it in the writing or producing. Unless you mean a bad parody of Soapdish.

Well, love is difficult to define. I will tell you what I consider the traits of a writer / producer who hate or dislike the genre:

1. Not writing a Friday cliffhanger. Not writing daily cliffhangers or even cliffhanger beats going into commercials.
2. Creating tons of new characters immediately and focusing on them.
3. Not bringing back any characters from years past.
4. Kill fan favorites in a brutal fashion.
4. Dropping storylines from a previous regime completely. It is a story and should have an ending after all.
5. Island characters so they don't interact with anyone except the same people they interact with year in and year out.
6. Write scenes that are visually uniteresting and that merely cut from one story to another without much transition versus actually editing a story so that the tension builds and scenes play off of one another.
7. Creating new sets, wasting time and money, rather than utilizing the existing sets and maximizing them.

Oh golly gee....feel the testosterone of the male leads .... Sonny,
St. Jason and John team up? I never would have guessed.

pjc722.... Same here I watch a couple times a week now...I just can't be a loyal viewer of a show I'm not enjoying but I still try.
