These tweets are mild compared to some of those I’ve read. The jokes are endless. Between this, Adele’s pregnancy (some of the tweets about this are shockingly mean) and Lauryn Hill’s guilty plea to tax evasion, the Twitter-verse is having an absolute Field Day!

Several years ago, I had a friend working in the entertainment industry, she was best friends with Kate Bosworth and Orlando Bloom. Apparently, the rumor at that time was Tom Cruise had offered several young actresses the role of a life time, to be his wife. The contract would run for five years, and then each year after it would be “renewed”.. provided the wife produce an heir during those five years. After the five years, the wife could choose to stay or leave. Looks like it took Katie only two additional years to wise up and leave. I always thought she should have been a bigger star.

I still can’t understand the L. Ron Hubbard sect. I can’t understand why it is the preferred belief system of so many actors in Hollywood/L.A. Do actors join because they truly believe or is it a way to network or something? I consider myself reasonably intelligent and I cannot make heads or tails of what that system of beliefs actually is?! And some of their (rumored) rituals unnerve me.

The Stafford and Tommy are both followers of Galactic Overlord, Xenu; so no surprise that she would take to scolding people who make light of this sham marriage and inevitable divorce.

Yes, Staff, it is easy to criticize (or comment). You do live in Hollywood and work in the entertainment industry, right?

All I know is that 7 years ago Katie Holmes ruined Batman Begins. I have never forgiven her for that. I tried and watched that awful Queen Latifah/Diane Keaton money making / stealing movie and nope, Joey Potter is dead.

You say you’re “reasonably intelligent”… but are you religious at all? There is nothing in Scientology that is any more “unnerving” than what Catholics believe.

There is a big difference between Scientology and the Catholic Church. I am also guessing that Katie just isn’t man enough for Mr. Cruise. His first two wives made that reference to themselves at one time or another.

I am not a Scientologist nor do I plan to ever be. I will say that I know it has helped many people kick drugs and alcohol.
If it can do that, I don’t see it as all bad.
All I have to say. Those are my two pennies.

    Congrats to Katie!

I don’t want to get to much into the Church of Scientology, just say that this is a dangerous cult where people constantly get threatened if they don’t agree with what is told to them. Katie Holmes never really seemed really happy while her time with Tom. So I guess it should be good for her to get out of this marriage.

And as for Miss Stafford … just be quiet. She constantly insults people on twitter if they don’t agree with her by calling them idiots, rude or pathetic. -.-

Thanks for breaking it down soapjunkie88.

As for Marland fan, I was simply trying to be diplomatic dear. As a matter of fact, I have studied some of the world’s religions, Catholicism to Buddhism to Shintoism and I must say that Scientology strikes me as being the one with the most convoluted set of ideology. I was trying not to say it because I didn’t want to delve further into it.
And when I said ‘reasonably intelligence’ I was being falsely modest, of course (lol). My bad… I meant I’m brilliant (LOL) Are you happy now?

@MsAgentProvocateur1: If you have read anything about Scientology, then you would easily know that the reason why these actors/artists love this “religion” is quite simple: Artists are highly revered in Scientology. They are almost like gods. The doctrine says things like artists are unique and have a gift that is & should be praised high above any other. And b/c of their ‘talents’, they are better than other people. I forget what else it said, but I remember my friend & I read about it & afterwards we were like, hell if we were artists we’d want to be Scientologists too! LoL, this religion totally feeds into their EGOS & tells them how great & mighty they are compared to EVERYONE else… & that their “additions” are not their own, but are instead b/c of “aliens” that have taken over that aspect of their body. All they have to do is pay a shyt-ton of money to have those aliens “removed” & they will be cured (a true recognition of the placebo effect if ever there was one!). Therefore, they don’t have to bear any responsibility for their lives or their excess b/c they deserve it (b/c they are so awesome) & it is not their faults (‘the aliens made me do it’).

It is really quite genius when you think about it. Get a group of ppl with a BUNCH of disposable income & tell them how great they are & that all of their problems are b/c the lower, common man doesn’t understand them & b/c there are extra-terrestrial beings out to get them. Then make it exclusive by having these ppl have to pay a LOT of said money to “get to the next level” of knowledge & healing & these dumbasses are all over it!!

As an artist myself, Scientology has never appealed to me on any level. No offense to anyone who is a Scientologist.

I’ve done some basic reading about the religion, Miry and after my eyes glazed over several times, I nodded off somewhere in the midst, to be completely honest. And I retained very little of what I actually read.

There is a film coming out in the fall by Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood) called The Master, which is sad to be based on a man who bears a striking resemblance to L. Ron Hubbard. It doesn’t mention the religion by name but everyone who has seen the script pretty much knows that it will be about Scientology.
An added wrinkle to the saga is that Paul Thomas Anderson also directed Magnolia, a movie that I believe Tom Cruise probably gave his best performance to date. Do you think these two men will ever work together again after this film is released?

I was watching some show this morning and it claimed that Katie Holmes is filing for sole custody, considered unusual in this day and age, especially among the moneyed set.

Miss Stafford is a member of the Church of Moonbeam, so I’d discount anything she might have to offer regarding Miss Cruise.

Frankly, Katie sold her soul for fame, which she’ll relinquish as she exits her sham marriage. Her career certainly crashed while being married to Miss Cruise. There was a reason that she wasn’t asked to reprise her role of Rachel Dawes in “The Dark Knight”.

I hope she made sure Miss Cruise’s check cleared.

Hope you all know that Sharon Case is listed as a member of this Cult also. I was shocked. I was looking for MAB’s name when I ran across Sharons.
I truly hope Katie doesn’t lose custody of Suri, like Nicole lost Isabella & Conner because of COS.

I had heard about Sharon Case years ago, Idylkng and I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t…how do I put this? I actually sighed when I read it. All I can say at this point is, to each their own, I guess.

Hopefully all parties can work things out amicably. I was a little younger than Suri when my parents divorced, so I feel for any child (no matter what circumstance they come from) who has to go through this process.

She was asked back to reprise the role of Rachel, but she turned it down because of another movie she wanted to make with Diane Keaton – who’s a favorite of Katie’s.

There are many celebrities that are a member of Scientology. Next to Sharon Case there are actors such as Kristie Alley (CHEERS), Catherine Bell (JAG/ARMY WIVES), Nancy Cartwright (THE SIMPSONS), Jenna Elfman (DHARMA & GREG), Juliette Lewis (CAPE FEAR), Jason Lee (MY NAME IS EARL), Christopher (MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE) and his brother Danny Masterson (THAT 70’S SHOW), Elisabeth Moss (MAD MEN), Priscilla Presley (DALLAS) and Leah Remini (THE KING OF QUEENS) who all are scientologists.

While I find this cult dangerous and it’s something that has been ignored in the public eye for far too long – which maybe also is a good thing considering that otherwise they would get new members – but I don’t judge a single one of those people. They don’t get out and try to get others to follow this cult.

But then there are people like Tom Cruise or John Travolta, who publicly praise the Church of Scientology and even seem to make attempts to get other people join the cult.

I’d like to go back to Sharon Case for a moment. I don’t want to judge her or say it’s okay to follow an organization like this, but I have heard that since she got divorced from her husband, she has left Scientology. Don’t know if it’s true. Just wanted to get it out there.

Michelle Stafford is one of the best actresses in daytime but she needs to sit the fuck down on this one. She’s only getting defensive because she’s a wacko Scientologist like Cruise.

Oscar winner and former Scientologist Paul Haggis (Million Dollar Baby, Crash) spilled the tea on Scientology in a TWENTY SIX page story for The New Yorker recently, which contains horrifying details, and explains what nut-jobs Stafford, Cruise and other Scientologists are and why they’re so desperate to defend their cult-members.

The only reason I saw Sharons name, as I mentioned, was to see what the connection was that kept MS on our screens every day! I remembered she was COS, and checked to see if MAB was also.
Hopefully Soapjunkie88 is correct, and Sharon escaped when she divorced. As far as the rest of them, they are all well known to be members.
Was happy to read the article a couple of months ago from Michael Fairman about how he was treated when he left. So sad.
Today I read on TMZ that COS have been following Katie! I wonder how far they will go? This is actually scary!

As I’ve said before, it took my own family five years to deal with the repercussions of having a member in the “Church” of Scientology. It is neither a religion nor a cult.

It is a very well-run and ruthless business, at least that’s how those in charge see it.

Actually, Christopher Nolan didn’t ask her back. They made the story up to save face for Katie, but Nolan & Christian Bale didn’t want her to return for “The Dark Knight” after she tried to hijack the premieres for “Batman Begins” with her fiancee at the time, Miss Cruise.

It is obvious that the only reason Ms. Holmes married him was because she did not want to be a b-movie actress. Secondly, I can tell you with 100% reassurance, that her family is happy she filed! The smartest thing she can do is remove herself from this situation and leave with some dignity!
