Another horrible MAB/HS/SH-created character that doesn’t belong on the GC landscape… Also, why was Paul still carrying Lauren’s gun after he confiscated it from her the night before at the failed Gala? Didn’t this man go home and take it off his person? Another plot hole so big you can drive a garbage truck through it!! Your plot-driven tales leave little to the imagination, MAB/HS/SH – this show is about as intense as a Three Stooges two-reel comedy! Then again, this show is being head-written by 3 modern-day Stooges!!! Log in to Reply soapjunkie88 July 2, 2012
Who cares about Adam and that skank Chelsea – really, anybody? Another horrible MAB/HS/SH-created character that doesn’t belong on the GC landscape…
Agreed! Who’s buying this cheesy love story that seems to be a complete rewrite for the character of Adam, who is unrecognizable these days. It’s such a shame! Where is the character-driven drama? This is just another plot-driven mess that raises the question once again WHY THE HELL ARE MARIA ARENA BELL & HER TEAM STILL EMPLOYED??? Besides that I wish they would stop throwing these newbies in our face. First we had Genevieve and now we have Chelsea. Both characters that have NOTHING special, take airtime away from fan favorites and are forced on other characters. I come out and say it now: Maria Arena Bell is the worst head writer and showrunner a soap opera has EVER seen. Think of who you thought was the worst … Mrs. Bell sure can beat him/her. Log in to Reply The_Moustache July 2, 2012 we’re supposed to believe that Paul is heartbroken after hating on Ricky since he first arrived in Genoa City?? maybe if there had been more father/son moments i would care. and why couldnt they make it that Ricky’s “crazyness” was part of his dna just like Aunt Patty who suffers from a disease. funny how they never brought it up. Ricky could’ve been written as a sympathetic character with mental issues like his mom/aunt but instead they wrote him as a one-note villain straight out of an 80’s horror movie. Log in to Reply TraceyAbbot101 July 3, 2012 I happen to enjoy Adam and Chelsea and I think they will give those “holier than thou” Newmans a run for their money. Who really cares what Victoria thinks? Does she think she is “The Moustache” JR??? Log in to Reply shirls429 July 3, 2012 I love Adam and Chelsea(Melissa Claire Egan)she is an awesome actress and happy that she is on Y&R. Log in to Reply Mets82 July 3, 2012 I understand the whole Patty/Ricky part of it but there was just something about Ricky that rubbed me the wrong way. I mean if someone is mentally sick, you want to root for him or her. I never got that with Ricky. He just seemed to damn mean and it was hard to feel sympanthy for him although thats just me. Victoria is getting a little whiny for me. Victoria, stop obsessing about Adam. Let him go his way and you go your way and if he tries something, then you can pounce. But for right now, let him be with Chelsea (which btw, are a good couple, so far) and be done with it. Log in to Reply pjc722 July 3, 2012 Right now, sadly, the only thing on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS that is not contrived is the genuine and developing love story of Chelsea and Adam. Both characters are severely damaged, Adam more than CHelsea, but they both seem to care for one another and the chemistry the two characters have together is amazing and sweet. I know we all hate Adam for everything he has done, but least we forget that several characters have done just as worse in their tenure on the show and are now loved. Phyllis did EXACTLY WHAT Chelsea did with Billy and her child with Danny. The difference is that Chelsea ended up agreeing to give the baby to Billy and Victoria instead of fighting them or making life hell LIKE PHYLLIS did with Daniel to Danny, ruining his relationship with Christine. Adam may have caused Ashley to lose her baby (Victor did the same with Nikki’s child with Jack) and he may have switched Sharon’s child with Ashley’s dead one, but again, you can go through the show and find characters who have done just as much… maybe not as severe but just as bad. Phyllis actually tried to kill 2 people. Victor locked his wife, Julia’s lover in a basement dungeon for a long period of time (back when stories on Y&R took months and months and months to tell). Katherine killed her husband while driving drunk. Paul just killed his son whom he abandoned, as well as his daughter. Michael kidnapped and raped (or attempted) Christine. Sharon has slept with every NON-blood relation male in town except for Kevin and Daniel. Ashley stole Victor’s sperm and had a child by him and NEVER told him for years. Jack let Victor suffer through a heart attack without calling 911 or giving him his medication. Lauren sold nude pics of Paul (had to throw that one in). Kevin has a laundry list of horrible things he has done from giving Lilly an STD, attempted murder, kidnapping, arson, international wire fraud, money laundering, bank robbery, etc. Let’s not forget Victor bringing Patti to town to ultimately kill Jack and the subsequent death of Colleen, which if Tracey wanted she could sue Victor in civil court for contributing to her death. My point is simple. Chelsea is EXTREMELY redeemable and in my books has been redeemed by her enormously generous gift to Victoria and Billy. Adam is redeeming himself but in light of the above and the number of people whose crimes still have to be paid for (Hi Phyllis, Kevin, Victor, Jack, WHORISH SHARON) I don’t think Adam has much further to go to have his soul cleansed. Then we hit Ricky and his untimely ending at his father’s hands. This was a horribly crafted story and a RUSH to bring the character on without a true story in hand, similarly with Paul’s older abandoned child when she was played by Bianca from AMC. Y&R ruined a great opportunity for a great dramatic story involving Paul, Ricky, and Heather, their abandonment and the stories that could come from there. Sadly, Maria who can’t even write a good “I’m sorry” note to fans without it sounding like a congratulations to herself, ruined these characters and their potential. As for Paul, he is soooooo damaged now from years of fighting, giving up his kids for what he believed a better life, missed loves (the man is STILL SINGLE and Victor keeps getting sex and wives), and then his sister’s decent into insanity, and now his own son’s insanity. How can Maria write anything meaningful for this character where you can see him as strong or even without sympathy. I have a feeling, Doug is on his way out as the character will probably leave town before the end of the summer. Reverse the trajectory of this show FAST! I knew that would end up being the murder weapon as soon as I watched Lauren hand it over, but it makes no sense that he wouldn’t have locked it away somewhere for safekeeping or gotten rid of it the day before. There are so many lapses of believability in this story, but Doug Davidson’s performances are what’s making it work. Log in to Reply marybee50 July 3, 2012 pjc722-wonderful post.Yes,Adam has done terrible things, but he has owned most of them.Victor or Phyllis will never, ever do that.I’m enjoying Adam and Chelsea. This is classic soap. Two outcasts finding out they may not be as terrible as others think.Victoria and Nick need to get over themselves, and realize Daddy has another son that is just as smart,if not smarter then them. I’m liking small parts of Y&R.Eden and Kevin,Michael’s situations,Doug Davison, and Carmine and Abby.It is a shame about Ricky’s story. He had such great possibility. I’m also starting to like Heather with Ronan. It would be nice if the writers could take these stories and concentrate on classic soap.Stop with Victor/Jack hate feuds,Phyllis, and the revenge sex. He just seemed to really have a chip on his shoulder. I am not sure what you mean about the Victoria part with Adam, I don’t even remember seeing her lately and not around Adam, but perhaps I missed something. They’re concerned because of the Chelsea/Newman baby connection. BTW, this whole storyline with Paul is ridiculous. As usual. CLEARLY Paul shot the kid in the arm. Now if he was going to murder his son, wouldn’t he have shot him through the heart or the head? GMAB. So “premeditated” means IF the kid was standing in front of a window?! And how would anyone know a simple bullet to the arm would propel someone out a window? Once again MAB and her writing scribes suck. I couldnt help laughing when I watched a recent vid of her in which she said the writers were great. Log in to Reply marybee50 July 3, 2012 yojo-all the Newmans are paranoid. They believe everyone is out to get them in some form or another.I think mets82 was refering to the promo, but everytime Victoria sees Chelsea when she has the baby she gets jumpy. And with Adam having switched one baby,I’m sure she thinks he will do it again.Like I said paranoid. Log in to Reply tedew July 3, 2012 A repost of mine from the earlier thread: Sometimes I do wonder. The episode after Paul plugs his son, the first few scenes had nothing to do with it at all. A long time character shoots his deranged son and it’s relegated to about the third or fourth scene the following day? Plus we don’t get to see the result laying on the pavement below? Plus Paul certainly very easily sidestepped the Genoa City Web of Justice. In fact, the first scene had all to do with Abby. And then of course, Abby goes on so very annoyingly to carry on that Ashley was with Tucker. Maybe Ashley should finally be given a hall pass to liquidate her darling daughter. And how many of you found Victor more annoying and hypocritical toward Jack in the park concerning Abby? And Ronan … what’s with him waltzing back in and assuming control? ********************************************************** I don’t think that Chelsea is or maybe never really was a skank. She’s actually quite interesting I think; just as long as her mother leaves again very quickly. And … it is true (as mentioned above); why should any Newman care just who Adam marries? Of course selfish Sharon cares because she still wants Adam all to herself for a while again. Victor has absolutely no reason to keep Chelsea away. At any rate, she could probably sue to regain custody of her child and actually win with whiny Victoria and never present Billy “in charge”. Log in to Reply tedew July 4, 2012 For once this time it actually makes sense that Paul is in the predicament he is in. I think the worst thing he did (even if it was just a stupid plot manipulation) was to abscond with the room key for no reason at all. However, the rest of it all is quite silly. Heather and Michael alone in the crime scene room with Eden? Heather is Paul’s daughter and Michael is Eden’s sister. Well that’s realistic! The missing knife? Well we all know who has that don’t we? I’m still annoyed with Ronan the Super FBI Guy taking over … where are the rest of those annoying hound dogs who appear each time an innocent party has his freedom at risk? And of course it would be requisite for Eden to have memory loss. That affects everyone for the time being. And I know I’m probably way off base here. But I’m still not completely sure that Ricky did all (and maybe nothing) of what he is now suspected of. There just seems something not quite right about this whole thing. But at least the Phyllis files are somehow all at the police station for discovery in due time; which will hopefully be very soon.
