General Hospital: Perkie's Observations

Michael asks Kristina’s opinion about which tie he should wear for his date with Starr. However, she’s not very enthusiastic, complaining that Trey isn’t interested in a relationship with her.  Michael warns her against Trey, but Kristina feels that he’s a good guy.  Michael asks if she’s okay with him dating Starr. She says he has her support, but to loosen up a little and to lose the tie.

Trey leaves another message for his father. When Starr gets home, they get into another argument until he admits that his father hasn’t been returning his calls and he’s worried.  Starr offers to call her detective friend or her father to help. However, Trey’s not that concerned yet.  He heads out to meet Kristina to check out Sonny’s warehouse.

John visits Joe in a holding cell in Atlantic City.  Joe still claims that John was responsible for putting the target on Teresa’s back and Sonny for shooting her.  Joe says he made a good life for himself and no one will take it away from him.  Joe says he’s going to sue Sonny and John. He then mentions losing a medal that he always wore.  He wonders why John would care so much about a sister he never knew. John says he made his father a promise to protect her.

Kate finds Sonny at the warehouse and tells him how her sessions with Ewen have been going.  She says she needs to be honest about everything. Sonny tells her that he found Joe and brought him to PC, but didn’t get a chance to kill him because of McBain.  Sonny tells her that Joe accused her of throwing herself at him and that it wasn’t rape.  Kate is upset and even more so when Sonny tells her Joe knew about the baby.

Anna calls Tracy down to the PCPD and lets her know that Anthony’s body has been found and that she’s got Heather in custody for moving the body, even though she has no evidence.  Anna says the autopsy showed Anthony was shot with the gun. Tracy again denies killing him, which Anna believes.  Tracy again points the finger at Luke.

Heather tells Todd to help her with her alibi plus one more thing. Todd is not interested in until she reminds him that he allowed Tea to take the baby which the police would consider kidnapping.  She says she needs him to care and feed someone or they’ll die, since she’s stuck in lock up.

Heather says she’s only holding Luke until he admits he has feelings for her. She tells Todd that he’s at the shack in the woods.  Todd’s concerned that Luke will be able to identify him, but Heather tells him to figure something out.

Luke wonders if he’ll ever be found before he starves to death and then hallucinates Lulu showing up to rescue him only she doesn’t.  Luke hallucinates Anna and Tracy being disgusted with him and glad he’s out of their lives.

Michael nervously knocks on Starr’s door and she nervously answers.  They make small talk. Then Michael wonders why he’s so nervous since there should be no pressure which Starr agrees to.

Anna catches Todd with Heather, but he’s heading out to do her bidding.  Heather wants to know where her lawyer is. Anna points out that Steve must be having a hard time finding someone to represent her.  She pulls out a tape recorder to make things official.

Trey and Kristina show up at the warehouse. Sonny introduces Kate to Trey, but she says they’ve already met, when he accused her of killing Starr’s family.  This makes Sonny angry, but Trey apologizes for his comments that day.  Sonny doesn’t want to continue with the filming, but Kate convinces him to do it for Kristina.  Trey complains to Kristina that he won’t let a kid killer judge him. Kris tells him to back off Kate.  After Kate leaves, Sonny tells Trey that he’s only tolerating him for Kris’ sake and not to disrespect those he loves again.

Trey swears he’s just there to record the family dynamic, but Sonny laughs that off.  He and Kristina talk while Trey scouts the best place to shoot.  Sonny doesn’t understand why Kris can’t see what kind of person Trey really is.  Kristina says Trey is honest about what he does and who he is.  Sonny reminds her that she has a nice life thanks to him.

Trey moves the chair over and spots his father’s medallion on the floor.

Todd, inspired by the fact that it’s Friday the thirteenth, dresses up in costume to bring Luke his food.

I can't disagree more. I had girlfriends in high school, but it wasn't until I was in college that I met girls who gave me butterflies. It was serious business, not just high school stuff.

I wasn't around when Michael was dating the stripper, but maybe he wasn't as invested in making it work over the long haul. He's hoping for more with Starr, hence the nervous stuff.

We all have different experiences. Just because Michael and Starr are not behaving the way you would doesn't mean it's crap.

Just wondering, if ABC eventually pulls the plug on General Hospital, will this site disappear. It seems like that show gets 95% of the traffic here. DAYS, Y&R, and B&B are just after thoughts. It's so obvious that it's hard not to comment about it. Just sayin'....

Starr's been mourning the death of her boyfriend and child for about six months now so she's nervous about going out on her first date since losing them. I think that's natural. Michael's been mourning the death of his girfriend Abby for about the same amount of time and this is also his first date since she died. He's never dated a girl his own age in highschool or college and Abby was the only girlfriend he's ever had. So again, I think it's natural that he's nervous. I thought the scenes were sweet.

I don't know about Trey's sexual orientation but to me he comes off as a spoiled daddy's boy who's used to getting his own way and is very good at manipulating emotionally immature girls. And his father Joe Jr is slime! I did have to laugh at Kate telling Sonny that Trey is an imbecile since we all know that Trey is Kate's son.

The Heather and Todd scenes were funny and Todd's inspired choice of costume was even funnier. My favorite line of his to Heather was... "Not to mention all the secrets that I'm keeping for you, from DNA tests to baby-switching to the wheelbarrows of death."

Loved the Anna and Tracy scenes at the PCPD!

And I really LOVED the Anna, Tracy, Lulu and Luke scenes at the garden shack!! Brilliant acting all around!!! My favorite line was Tracy declaring that she's a goddess and Anna saying Amen! Beer Love

There has never been any hint of Michael being gay or bi so to make him one now would be occ and I hated the rape storyline so this bi thing would my end with gh

I may be misreading things, but I thought liason4real was kind of joking when the suggestion of Micheal being bi came up.

It would be nice to have a little fun on here from time to time without people getting so ultra-serious about things. Not everything has to lead to threatening to quit watching. We're allowed to laugh once in a while, aren't we?

*Shrug* I could have sworn there was a straight female character on GL that suddenly became a lesbian? What about Callie over on GA who sleeps with Sloane on occasion when she's not mad at Arizona? I want diversity on my soaps, and if Michael ends up being bisexual then here's hoping that RC/FV write the story.

I wouldnt boycott over it or anything but I guess FOR ME, the idea that the one bi character is the guy thats raped in a prison is kind of icky. if they bring back morgan and hes bi or they bring back lucas and trey is bi ive got no problem but it sort of makes it seem like michael was this straight guy who goes to a male prison and is turned by his rape, that maybe on some level he liked it. I think it potentially sends a terrible message to the homophobes of the world given that if they made michael and trey gay they would be the ONLY gay characters on the canvas. Its not that michael would be bi or that hes previously been portrayed as straight, although im not wild about that aspect either.

I don't see Michael as being gay, but wouldn't it be very soapy to see Sonny, the macho mobster who sleeps with and practically mentally abuses almost every woman in town, having to deal with a gay son? Can you also imagine both mother and son checking out all the new men in town?

I would rather they bring back Lucas though, the Spencers need a little beefing up.

Mipeony I guess it would just be my preference then for that kid to be Morgan. Besides that would make it Sonnys BLOOD child. Though honestly given how much sonny has given to hiv and aids research i think he would be cool about having a gay kid. I think he would have a way harder time dealing with spinellis disorder (which i think is some form of aspergers) if spin were kates kid that would make sonnys head explode truly.

Right on, TV Gord. I think we need to cut Michael and Starr some slack. They are 20ish, not 40ish. And even people in their 40s get nervous before going out on a date with someone for the first time. I don't think it's just how preteens behave; it's how humans behave. I found those scenes to be completely believable.

As for the gay factor, I think people might be reading too much into the way Michael is being written now -- softer, less hard. Personally, the actor doesn't give me any particular vibe one way or the other, but I think he's doing a good job playing the material. I much prefer him as he's being written now as opposed to the angry young man he was with Abby. It's been a while since I wanted to reach into the TV screen and throttle him, which is truly progress!

I had to laugh at the thought that Luke just imagined Anna and Tracey in the same outfit as they were actually wearing. I get it that its cheaper, but the idea of it makes me laugh at the coincidence.

So Michael can't be bi yet people have been wishing Morgan was gay since he was a little boy?

I would assume that if they brought morgan back straight or gay they would soras him. they are already aging molly slowly even with the same actress as suddenly she is 15 when i think she is suppose to be 14. If the show goes on i have to imagine at some point they are going to put michael and morgan in some sort of conflict with each other and typically doesnt that mean making them closer in age ie: kevin and joe buke.? My thinking was the third person in the tj molly age range would either be someone like cam or jack not morgan esp. since molly and morgan are sort of related.

I thought Trey was gay from the very beginning and hope to find out that Michael is really bi-sexual.

RC switching up couples is a good thing IMO and should have occurred last year when GW took over as HW. Patrick is without a pairing and since the show knew for over a year that KMc was leaving they should have brought on Dr. Sarah Webber instead of Kate#2.

I agree re: Patrick they had plenty of time to deal w/this even before the Carlintini team came on board...but I guess that might of screwed things up I just get the impression they aren't that interested in promoting anything outside of this awful DID storyline, Jason and Sam that baby storyline 9that just won't stop....John now Todd) their OLTL character crossovers... GH characterS (imo) aren't given much attention marketing or storywise its almost like many show up once every couple of weeks.

Gay, straight, sidewise bi, indifferent Michael is a bland character for me. However I am intrigued re: a bisexual storyline because one of my favorite characters Kalinda Sharma on The Good Wife is written brilliantly as a bisexual I am almost positive GH wouldn't do it justice (there's no reason why they couldn't but ya know...)

but who knows I may be surprised for a change and go WoW

Cyber,,,I forgot to include JJ along with KMc voluntarily leaving the show. There is no reason that Liz/RH should be paired up with a recurring character (Ewen) or Patrick/JT not having his next romantic pairing (Sarah Webber) already on the show. RC/FV should write for the actors that stay and not pin their hopes on "maybe" getting KMc or JJ to come back for a short story arc.

Cyber though dont you think that part of what makes kalinda so interesting is that she is sexually fairly - aggressive isnt the right word - but comfortable in her own skin/adventurous/assertive (in that weve seen her with a bunch of partners and she doesnt think in terms of a small town value system of whats right and wrong or number of partners etc.). I think they could go there with say Connie once shes integrated (although Im not sure having the only bi character being the one thats mentally ill sends a good message any more than having it be the raped young adult) or i could have seen them going there with olivia or maybe abby and they could still maybe go there with a character like say sean but a young kid like michael being as sexualized as kalinda wouldnt feel appropriate. He could be bi, but i dont think he could be kalindas kind of bi and i dont think its her bisexuality that makes her interesting so much as its the fact that the character is written as someone that has tons of secrets and could do just about anything at any time and for reasons that she probably will never let the people around her tumble to in their entirety if at all. I dont see the typical daytime soap viewer warming to michael being written that way given that this is a character that we have largely watched grow up on canvas.

As for the marketing - i saw your comment on the promo thread and this one - and all i can say is yeah there was no alexis or liz (or sean or spinelli or maxie i dont think or tracy for that matter) but look at how many characters WERE included. We have better balance now IMHO than we've had in a LONG time (and I would argue we are seeing way more of alexis, liz and tracy than we saw under wolfe. Is the show perfect? absolutely not but its way better than its been in a long while. I honestly think fans are killing the genre in some respect obsessing just about their favorite pairing or whether their favorite is in a promo or not. I hate that jason kissed liz and im sad they are busting up sam and jason but im ready to embrace mcbam and im just glad that the show has a shot at going past 2013. Alexis needs a love interest but rather than bashing the promo im going to keep talking about how much i would ship a Vincent irizarry as sams dad/alexis pairing/story every chance i get in the hopes that maybe someone somewhere sees that idea and thinks its a good one. And while I cant believe that tiic would be dumb enough to think about killing off johnny z, id rather focus on the fact that they havent killed him off yet and looking for positive ways to convey my love for the character instead of talking about boycotts which sends entirely the wrong message to the network.

Liason is NB recurring because they never had any intention of ever making him anything more than recurring or is he recurring because they started him that way first to see if he caught on with viewers and its only the fact that he hasnt really become a fan fave and the pairing flopped due to lack of chemistry that has kept him from receiving a contract? Im asking that honestly because I dont know the answer? (I didnt even realize he wasnt on contract).

Was DZ offered a contract right out of the gate? What about the women? Did the woman that played maggie have a contract?

I think jt is a totally different situation because I think they are STILL trying to get kimberly back permanently and they know there would be a window of time where she was definitely going to come back to wrap up her story. as i understand it, its not a given that jt will stay on after that so they could both exit. Thats a whole lot of maybes there plus factor in that patrick is suppose to be in mourning and would be in mourning even in what is usually a soap mourning period through most of the time that kim is suppose to be out.

liz on the other hand isnt grieving luckys death and even before he landed the pilot i thought kimc was far more likely to return to gh than jt was.

I would call Kalinda, "truly sexually liberated". She's one of those types who don't put labels on themselves. I wish we could all be that way.

Back in the "good ol' days" Wink (when were THOSE???), we hets never labelled ourselves as heterosexual. It wasn't until youse OTHER types came along that we had to label everybody. Let's take the labels off of everyone, I say!

People say Frank Ocean "came out" a couple of weeks ago, but there's some question about whether he actually did. It's groundbreaking, because it's the first "coming out" in the hip-hop world, but I think it's groundbreaking that he's not necessarily saying he's gay. He's saying his first love was a guy, but there have been women since. I think it's a positive step in the world of sexual liberation.

I've always been attracted to women. I've only had relationships with women. Does that make me heterosexual? I think so right now...but maybe I just haven't met the right guy! Wink

WHAT KALINDA ACTUALLY SAID ABOUT HER SEXUALITY (Season 3, Episode 22 "The Dream Team")::

Kalinda: "I'm not just randomly here. Cary asked me to come..."

Alicia: "No problem no problem at all hey, the IRA agreed to chill out about your case if you just..."

Kalinda: "You mean the IRS. Listen, I'm not gay."

Alicia, signaling for a tequila shot: "...Um, okay?"

Kalinda: "You asked."

Alicia: "Yeah, like two years ago."

Kalinda: "Well, I wanted to answer. I'm flexible.*"

Alicia: "I kind of figured that out when you fu... Um. Hey, so does that mean you and FBI Agent Lana Delaney..."

Kalinda: "Kinda yes, kinda no, but it does play a part in the mystery there."

TV Gord I like that label - TSL - truly sexually liberated. But I stick by the fact that the character is interesting less because she has male partners and female partners but more because of her willingness to really do whatever suits her at any given moment. Shes always surprising and that makes her IMHO more interesting. I dont know that you could take a 20 year old character to those places in daytime without middle america revolting - a character in his or her late 20s or later maybe but a character audiences many would still see as a kid? I dont know.
