If you were watching The View and/or other daytime programming during the 11 am EST hour, you saw those broadcasts interrupted by the first court appearance of James Holmes, the gunman accused of killing 12 people and injuring 58 others during a movie theater shooting in Colorado on July 20.

Twenty-four-year-old Holmes is being accused of opening fire at a midnight showing of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. He appeared in court today, still sporting dyed, reddish hair and at times looking out of it. Arapahoe County District Attorney Carol Chambers stated she is considering the death penality, but will be discussing her options with victims and family members.
