Y&R BYTES: Here’s a totally superficial question, inspired by Wednesday’s The Young and the Restless. Who do you think has the best tattoos on soaps? Countless soap actors sport works of art on their biceps, backs, shoulders or lower backs (as some call them, tramp stamps). Some distract from the actor’s characters, while some fit. It has almost become a game of Whac-a-Mole trying to keep up with the different tats that keep popping up. Do you have a favorite?
Cane (Daniel Goddard) continued to play the role of super sleuth, trying to figure out who is causing problems for his mom. It’s unfortunate I don’t care one iota about what happens to Genevieve (Genie Francis).
Kyle (Blake Hood) probably shouldn’t have given Abby (Marcy Rylan) such an open invitation to come over and enjoy the pool. She brought Carmine (Marco Dapper) with her and invited other people, including Eden (Jessica Heap). Abby isn’t very subtle is she? Kyle flirted with Eden, but I’m still not feeling their chemistry.
Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) had a chance to wave her finger at Tucker (Stephen Nichols) about his relationship with Ashley (Eileen Davidson).
Tucker: “Don’t you start now.”
I am getting tired of Tucker’s “woe is me” routine. I really need Nichols to return to General Hospital as Stefan Cassadine. Port Charles desperately needs more Cassadines.
Adam (Michael Muhney) and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) received a visit from her money hungry parents Anita (Catherine Bach) and Jeffrey (Ted Shackelford). Adam didn’t appear enthused about their visit, but Chelsea was okay with them being there. However, when she suspected her parents of having ulterior motives, she told them to get out.
Sofia (Julia Pace Mitchell) practically crowed to Neil (Kristoff St. John) about her new job offer, but Neil doused her dreams. He told her would legally prevent her from taking their baby with her.
DAYS BYTES: Sami (Alison Sweeney) arrived home disheveled and with a bruise on her head. She fell into Lucas’ (Bryan Dattilo) arms. Lucas wanted her to file a police report, but Sami didn’t think she needed to since the only thing her attacker wanted was the flash drive. I could be wrong, but in the brief flash I saw him, her mugger looked an awful lot like Rafe’s (Galen Gering) partner.
Lucas to Sami: “Will follows him (EJ) around like the Pied Piper.”
Melanie (Molly Burnett) called Chad (Casey Deidrick) and told him she’s in the tunnels beneath Salem, but apparently her cell phone reception wasn’t that great underground. Brady (Eric Martsolf), however, managed to use the Internet signal of his iPad to be able to see the city maps. Go figure. I suppose he could have downloaded them before entering the chasm beneath town.
Will (Chandler Massey) informed EJ (James Scott) how important he is to him, during a chat about EJ's innocence.
Now that EJ isn’t a DiMera he doesn’t have access to money? What a bunch of bull.
1) I do not believe his name could be taken off all his DiMera accounts in less than 24 hrs, but I suppose they could be frozen. However, even if they were frozen there is always reason No. 2 why he shouldn't have a problem making bail.
2) Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) groomed him to take over the DiMera empire. Running the DiMera Empire 101 clearly states in its syllabus that having multiple offshore bank accounts filled with money is a prerequisite to taking over.
My verdict is in on Abby (Kate Mansi) and Cameron (Schuyler Yancey): They’re boring. Both need to leave Salem alongside Gabi (Camila Banus).
GH BYTES: Who knew Robin (Kimberly McCullough) was so good at turning a bowl into a weapon? As Real Robin tried to fight off her orderlies, Ghost Robin begged Patrick (Jason Thompson) to help her. Now that's a neat parlor trick!
Heather (Robin Mattson) gave Anna (Finola Hughes) the ultimate mind screw, minus the lube, by telling her Robin is alive.
Lulu (Julie Marie Berman) and Luke (Anthony Geary) shared a nice father/daughter scene. Later, Anna visited her boyfriend, who tried to reassure her against Heather’s manipulations.
Starr (Kristen Alderson) tried to talk sense into her father. However, Todd (Roger Howarth) didn’t want to take responsibility for anything. Since he blames John McBain (Michael Easton) for messing things up for him and Blair (Kassie DePaiva), I expect we're about to see a new round of Manning vs. McBain.
Kate (Kelly Sullivan) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) spent a good portion of the episode in bed. It’s unfortunate the pair has such little sex appeal.
B&B BYTES: Yep, The Bold and the Beautiful is TOTALLY overdoing the driving while texting PSA. The anvil like dialogue just keeps falling from the sky, as if Wile E. Coyote is standing beneath it.
Marcus (Texas Battle) made excuses to Anthony, Dayzee (Kristolyn Lloyd) and the police for his actions, saying he was sorry. What should be a powerful storyline is woefully inadequate because of the bad, heavy-handed dialogue.
Ridge (Ronn Moss) told Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) he’d watched the video of Liam (Scott Clifton) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). Of course the computer was left out where Hope (Kim Matula) needed to use it.
Liam thanked Steffy for not making the whole mess more complicated, saying “You’re a pretty cool chick.”
Steffy told Liam she wouldn’t be as forgiving as Hope, but Liam pointed out Hope never saw the video.
Is Hope the most clueless female character in soaps? Some days I think so.
