General Hospital: Perkie's Observations

John tells Sam that Todd dropped the charges and that he’s on the next flight to London. Then he gets word that Natalie and Liam are actually back in Llanview.  Sam thanks Alexis for her help and claims she wants John to reunite with his family. However, Alexis says they need to deal with their feelings for each other.  John tells Sam that he’ll miss her and Sam hopes things work out for him.  A process server shows up and gives John a restraining order.

John’s angry that he’s being kept away from his son, but Alexis says they weren’t married. If paternity was never legally established, he may have a hard time getting custody.  John makes a call and swears he’s coming for his son.  Alexis tells him that it could be perceived as a threat and not to give anyone ammunition.  Sam offers to talk to Natalie, but Alexis says no.  She tells John to stay in town until she can establish paternity.

Maxie finds Lulu puking in the garbage can and thinks she may be pregnant. However, Lulu deflects saying it was likely something she ate, but admits to Olivia’s vision.  Maxie wonders if Olivia now has a sixth sense.  Maxie asks if it’s possible. Lulu counts back and realizes she’s late, but figures it could be stress after everything that’s happened.  Maxie wonders if Lulu doesn’t want to be pregnant.   Lulu says she does, but not now. It’s the worst possible timing and doesn’t know what to do.  Maxie heads off and brings her back a pregnancy test.

Jason’s teaching Spinelli how to box. When they switch sides, Jason remembers all of the McBam encounters and accidentally hits Spin.  Spinelli understands that Sam’s feelings are clouded, but they can’t live their lives in limbo.  Spin mentions Sam leaning on her family, but that Jason has to struggle alone.  Spin points out that by leaving Sam alone, she’s slipping away. Jason claims he can’t keep her where she doesn’t want to be.  Spin tells him to find out where his marriage is headed.

Carly’s worried about Todd. She points out that he doesn’t need police after him for going after one of their own.  Todd assures her that he dropped the charges, thanks to Starr.  Carly tells him that he needs a new woman. However, Todd says he’s heartbroken and not interested.  Talk turns to Jax. Todd looks him up online and Carly bad mouths Jerry.

Carly says there’s someone out there for Todd, especially since he’s in a new town, where no one knows his past.  She offers to help him find the right woman and grabs a magazine to do a compatibility quiz.  Todd forces her to do one also and realizes the results point to a woman like Carly.

Ewen’s feeling guilty for making Patrick suffer, but Jerry says there is no time for guilty consciences. Robin’s kidnapping was necessary for the bigger project.  Jerry says he has another job for Ewen and shows him a picture of Carly.  Ewen initially refuses to do what Jerry is asking of him, but Jerry tells him that he must.  After Ewen leaves, Jerry looks at a photo of Alexis and talks to it, until he has another coughing fit.

Liz pays Patrick a visit, to let him know how Emma is doing and that his lab work has come back clean.  Patrick wants to leave so he can begin to deal with Robin’s loss. He mentions Liz giving Ewen a second chance.  He wants Liz to move on and be happy and not stay hung up on Jason.  Liz reminds Patrick that she’s known Jason a long time, shared a child and are still friends. She hopes that Ewen can understand that.

Ewen arrives and interrupts.  Patrick says he’s taking credit for them getting back together.  Ewen agrees to discharge Patrick tomorrow. He asks to go and see Emma to give her the news.  When Liz leaves to get the paperwork in order, Patrick makes it clear that Jason won’t be a threat to Ewen’s chances with Liz.

When Liz returns, Ewen grabs her and desperately kisses her, but then apologizes.  She wonders why he seems off today.  Ewen remembers what it was that Jerry asked him to do in relation to Carly, which was to kidnap Jocelyn.

Sam assures John that her mother will win this for him.  John is angry that he’s missing time with his son and then realizes what that means to Sam.  Sam says he won’t lose his son. The two hug.  Jason arrives and sees them.

Alexis gets a call from a disguised Jerry that there is a problem at Windemere. She goes over to check it out.  She’s shocked when she sees Jerry.

I wonder if they will make Liam Brody's son in the end.

Yes, I'm thinking that Liam will end up being Brody's son. Here's hoping that Jessica runs another DNA test on Ryder!

As for GH, excellent show today.

Besides Ric Jerry is the only man I have ever liked with Alexis. She doesnt have anyone so why didnt they reunite them instead of getting him involved with Ewen?
Carly makes Todd bearable. If they are going to make a couple out of GH & OLTL characters then I prefer Carly and Todd. They have more chemistry than Carly and Johnny.

I think it is possible Natalie doesn't know anything about Sam.

But, if you look at the situation from Nat's perspective, John is an asshat. What the hell? He won't let anyone keep him from Liam. He has kept himself away from the boy. He has been chasing a 20 year old crime and another woman. Natalie has every right to be pissed.

Sonny, Jason, Spinelli feel so out of place on the show now.

it's like when they appear i go OH, THEY'RE STILL THERE? WHY?

I wonder the same thing. They were dropping anvils left and right. We'll see where they land though.

And yes, while I loathe Natlee, it is quite possible she has no idea her father's done this. Once Asa passed on, Clint basically became the JR Ewing of daytime. Forging his daughter's signature on a restraining order is so the kind of thing he'd do.

First...I so agree with The_Moustache. When I see Sonny, Spinelli and sometimes Jason, I'm like they are still here? The show hasn't been all dark and full of mobsters, thankfully. Sick of see Joe Jr in that jail cell. What is the point of him again?

Second...Does the writers know Carly? I'm sorry but this isn't the Carly from the last 16 yrs. Even though TB's Carly matured, this Carly regressed and became immature again. Hearing her try to set up Todd, taking quizzes, letting Sam off the hook for kissing John, telling Todd NOT to lock up John. Where is the Carly who would go on a rampage and find Sam to yell at her for kissing McBain. Even though Jason told her about it, Carly has always been super protective of Jason destroying anyone who even looked at Jason wrong. For her to not say anything to Sam is so unlike Carly. Also Carly not finding Liz to cuss her out about kissing Jason is VERY VERY out of character for Carly. If Jason and Liz even said hello to each other in the past, Carly would go crazy against Liz. This is not Carly. Yes she seems to be maturing, which is cool but she should mature in time. This instant maturing (like the instant redeeming of Luke) that the writers are doing doesn't look right. Neither does Todd and Carly, puke! Todd/Alexis more my speed.

Why isn't Olivia dead? So glad to see Jerry and Alexis face to face. Just great to see more Alexis. Crazy that John and Alexis has chemistry!!! Looking at that gym made me wish AJ was there boxing. He was the boxer in the family. Can't wait to see Liz and Ewen start to date. I just wish the actor Ewen not be so jittery and calm down a little. For the first time in a long time, Jason will be all by himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

where is the Carly that was constantly beating up (physically & verbally) Sam for the slightest infraction???

who is this new-Carly? who is she? i think she's been taken over by a pod-person.

i miss when Carly would always slap Sam and vice-versa.

Carly did those tests for her and Jason and they turned out to be perfectly compatible in all but one category. Since Jason and Todd are nothing alike, I don't see how she'd be compatible with Todd. However, Carly has some of Blair's traits, so I can see how Carly would be a decent match for Todd.

So many plotpoints, my head is spinning. Considering her tawdry history isn't Nata-lie overreacting just a wee bit? And where was the voice of reason (Vicki) when Clint and Nata-lie were concocting this plan? And why hasn't Vicki ripped Todd a new one, even over the phone?

So now, no restaurant anymore for the mob, but a boxing rink?

And why make LuLu pregnant now, that is SO CLICHE!

SO after staying out of Llanview for several months and returning only after making out with Sam, John's pissed at Natalie for filing a restraining order against him?!

And in what court would Natalie be able to get a restraining order against someone JUST FOR KISSING ANOTHER WOMAN?! I know this is a soap opera but this is absolutely ridiculous. It would have been more believable if Natalie just kept moving and that made it hard for John to see or find his son.

As for Alexis advising John to stay away from Llanview is the dumbest advice that a lawyer could give a client. Especially since it will only give Natalie more rights to their son by showing John deserted them and stayed in Port CHarles to be with his new "girlfriend".

Then throw in whiny Sam saying that she would go and talk to Natalie and Cartini has thrown this story into IDIOTIC.

Why couldn't they make more of a reason for John to come up to Port Charles? I mean, John has a family in Llanview, a girlfriend MOST OLTL fans had to struggle with to see them together. He has a son. (They better not reveal him to be Cody's son.

I know that Cartini can't have Natalie on the show until January but they surely could have written a better story than this that destroys the story of John and Natalie. Then, as curacaoman states above, Vicki should be calling John to come back and being the voice of reason here.

I would understand all of this stupid "I'll rewrite history and character story" writing from Phelps or any other team not tied to OLTL but in what world would Cartini have written that Natalie would have taken out a restraining order on John, or would Natalie believe that Todd was on the up and up EVEN with a picture, or that Natalie wouldn't be up in Port CHarles not only fighting for her man BUT KICKING THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS out of Sam?!!

In What alternate reality would Vicki not inject herself into the set up or Starr defending her cousin to Sam? Or even talking to John to give Natalie time to cool down and to ask "what were you thinking?!!!" to him?

In what foolish space in the team of Cartini's mind and writing pad did they think that fans would want to see the idiotic occur?!!

While we are on the idiotic, I live right outside of NYC and a train ride to Atlantic City takes 2 hours. My parents live midway from the border of Canada and NYC and it takes me 2 hours to get to them and another 3 hours to the border where Port Charles would most likely be... since it's been established its that close to Canada already on the show. So could someone please tell me how Trey is able to hop on a train and get to Atlantic City in that short of time? AMtrak doesn't go down to Atlantic City from upstate and the journey is a minimum of 5 hours (without the drive to and from train stations) and we all know that the price of a flight from UPSTATE NY to downstate NJ (atlantic city) would be SKY HIGH seeing that Joe Jr asks to see his son in the beginning of one episode to seeing his son in front of his jell cell in the next.

I mean, Trey doesn't have money since he is sharing an apartment with Starr (who does have money, a trust fund from both Todd and Dorian and most likely her mother).

Continuity is what FANS are clamoring for on daytime and its the one thing soap writers and producers don't seem to care about.

I love how Sam basically told Liz to shut up when Liz tried to explain the Liason kiss, yet she thinks it would be a good idea for her to go and talk to Natalie about McBam's kiss? Come on now.

And what would she say? "Sorry Natalie. I was just so sad about losing my child that I had to kiss your man even though I knew you were together and knew that you had a son together. My bad." I never watched OLTL, but from what I have heard about Natalie, she would probably knock Sam out at that point.

Loved the Patrick/Liz scenes.

My sentiments exactly - I was SO furious when John was saying he couldn't be 3 hours away from his son while this was going on... he's been gone for months - and then he goes BACK to Port Charles after he finds out Natalie has left. Why?

So many excellent points by posters who took the words right out of my mouth!

curacaoman, I was wondering the same thing about Viki. Where is her calming influence in this part of the story that is taking place off-screen? The restraining order certainly doesn't feel like Natalie's modus operandi (though it IS right up Clint's alley), but how in the world did they manage to get one against a LPD superhero like John McBain? Who could Clint have possibly bought to keep a decorated cop away from his son merely for kissing another woman? It's a little bit too much hoopla over a kiss when cheating soap characters have done so much worse. And it's not like Natalie didn't suck face with John when he was still with Marty! What John did wasn't right, but it's making Natalie look very bad to use his son to punish him.

logan_echolls, I completely agree regarding Carly. She's become a complete Stepford Carly whom I don't recognize at all (not that I don't find her far more likable than I ever did before). LW is selling it, but so did KDP when they similarly de-clawed Blair over the last several years of OLTL. I kind of like the truce between Carly and Sam, though. Not that Carly has ever exhibited much good taste, but I suspect that she figures Sam has suffered enough, having had to endure being raped and losing a baby. As for Liz, she allowed the doctors to save Josslyn's life by donating Jake's liver (was it his liver?), so I think Liz might get a pass from Carly for about another year.

I did really enjoy the Carly/Todd scenes, though. I'm still not feeling them as a couple, but I do like that they are building it slowly. The Johnny thing kind of came out of left field, and they still don't seem evenly matched to me. I think if Carly were still a total bitch and not so gullible, her romance with Johnny would be easier to buy.

I'm still not really loving the Jerry Jax reveal, mostly because he's already been too much of the all-purpose villain recently (he was even inserted into that dreadful Balkan storyline), and I think Ewen is a dud character, which flattens the storyline a bit for me. I am curious, though, to know whom he's working for, why he's not being more menacing with Ewen, why he's having those coughing fits, and what he has planned for Alexis.

I agree that Sonny and Spinelli seem a little out of place on the new GH, but I think Jason still fits. And he's a major player in a key storyline. The coffee warehouse set has to got to go, though. So does the boxing set. It's as bad as OLTL's gym set, which I always hated. And don't get me started on Joe Scully Jr. and that dumb jail set. I'm warming up to Trey, however, and I kind of hate myself for it.

And finally, logan-echolls, when you're right you're right. I also noticed the chemistry between John and Alexis. I'm not sure if it was romantic (it's a little like his chemistry with Anna -- where is she???), but I do like the two of them sharing screen time. NLG looked stunning today. I hope this is the beginning of increased screen time for Alexis.

Let me preface this by saying I've only been watching GH for about two years, so Liason vs. Jasam was before my time. I have no dog in this fight, and the only character I dislike in that trio is actually Jason.

But this comment is so true, LOL. Why in the world would Sam think that was a good idea? She just had the same thing happen to her, and wasn't trying to hear it from Liz. And you're correct about Natlee, she probably would just punch Sam first, and ask questions later.

Oy, the nitpicking. Most of these characters aren't complex or deep enough to be able to say 'this is what they'd do' or 'that's how they would act'. It seems to me that some of you are just looking for reasons not to like what's happening. The one that really got to me were the comments about Viki inserting herself into Natalie and John's love life. When has she ever gotten involved in her children's love lives without being specifically asked for advice?

And the part about the travel time from Port Charles to Atlantic City. What would you rather have? Three days of scenes of Trey on the train?

And much is being speculated on about bringing Natalie to GH in January. Just because the character is off-limits until January doesn't mean FV plans to bring her to town. It seems to me these events transpiring on our screens right now are playing out so that we won't have to see Natalie on screen at all. McBain is moving on. This is how it's being done.

But then you go on to say, "When has [Viki] ever gotten involved in her children's love lives without being specifically asked for advice."

Whether the characters are deep or complex is a matter of opinion, but I think characters who have been around for years, if written well, have an established pattern of behavior. Natalie would certainly fall into that category.

BTW, if this story were playing out on OLTL, Viki would most definitely have something to say about Clint inserting himself into the drama. She has never spoken only when spoken to.

As for the nitpicking, would there be anything to read on the message boards without it? The perfect solution to the Atlantic City time travel nonsense (which I agree is jarring) would be to dump the entire storyline. It's not working.

pjc722 - Maybe you haven't watched GH very long but Port Charles is in NEW YORK and nowhere near Canada. And maybe you haven't watched OLTL but Llanview is in PENNSYLVANIA, again nowhere near Canada. Llanview according to John yesterday is about a 3 HOUR drive from Port Charles. And Atlantic City is in NEW JERSEY, so you wouldn't need to fly to get there from Port Charles, New York. It's a short drive!

Uhmmm no. For years Port Charles has been portrayed as being fairly close to the Canadian border(Rochester area) but even if it was an hour outside of NYC that still makes the ride to AC 5-6 hours. Hardly a short drive. Shoot A.C is hardly a short car ride for even us who live in NJ especially during the summer. Ask anyone whose ever been stuck on the Garden State Parkway.

Ouch my head is spinning from trying to understand this whole so and so is her cousin and would yada yada yada... Dang I don't know these OLTL peeps- don't know how they are related and really don't care that much about them.. Plus I don't need to see anyone from that show coming to give anyone from my show a smack down..

I am so sick of this McBam/Jasam thing going on.... I am tired of Jason walking in and seeing a hug or whatever. I just really want to see them have a conversation about what is really going on here..

I enjoy the mature Carly- she doesn't need to see every women on the show as her enemy. I am happy that the other females on the show are getting POV's and not just her. She has zero right to go off on any of them..

I would rather find out that Brody is Liam's father than for RC to kill off another child or Natalie. John can then sell his bar and move permanently to Port Charles and there would be no need to bring Natalie on the show.

LOL...ain't that the truth Raven...GSP and ACE are ugly in the summertime. I live outside of AC...I know all about this....AND you are right about PC being in upstate NY...They have always said that, and talked about driving to the Canadian border. You are also correct in how many hours it would take...even driving at 100+ hrs an hour LOL...We were laughing the one day, when they had a character in Jersey in one scene, and then NY in the next. I am actually surprised by this inconsistancy, as both FV and RC are east coasters, and definitely know better.

I am so looking foward to McBam moving forward...I melted yesterday when he told her twice that he was going to miss her...WOW...their chemistry is off the charts...I can't wait for Jasam to officially break up...and for John to sort this out with Natalie, (who I could never stand) and move forward with Sam.

I can't wait to see what Jerry does to Alexis today. I really think he cares for her...so I am curious as to what this is all about.

I loved the Liz and Patrick scenes. Their relationship always seems so effortless. I am glad they are such good friends. Poor Ewen is starting to unravel with all this guilt. I feel sorry for him, in a way. I guess it will depend on what Jerry has on him...as to whether I will hate, or not hate him for Robin. However... I genuinely think he cares about Elizabeth.

I thought the Jason/Spin scenes were very good...and I thought he brought up a good point saying that sometimes we continue to love people only out of habit. I think this caused Jason to reevaluate his own feelings.

I always laugh at how fast people travel to/from Port Charles. I figure there’s some kind of teleportation device in everyone’s off-camera kitchens. As a New Yorker, this is something that has always bugged me about GH. Even after years of reading Liason vs. Jasam, THIS is what makes me come out of lurking to post! Hahaahha! Smile

New York =/= New York City. When GH shows calls on cells, they show a 716 area code. That would be Western New York State, most likely Buffalo area. This would make sense with the harbors being either on Lake Erie or possibily Ontario, 2 of the Great Lakes between the US and Canada. I live in Rochester and GH may have not have caught on to the area code change from 10 years ago or so, but that would be par for the course… WNY is at least a 5 – 6 hour drive to NYC.

New York is most definitely close to Canada. New York shares the Niagara Falls with Canada, although the Canadian side is much better. So go there for the best sight-seeing. Canada is a short drive across the Peace Bridge, depending on customs. That side of PA is also much closer to Canada than NYC.

Of course, GH’s continuity sucks, so what do I know. PC could be just outside of Albany. But even that would not be a quick trip through NYC's rage-idnucing traffic or at mach 0 on the Parkway Smile .

What's up with the most recent doctor's on GH? Monica (recovering alcoholic), Steven (steals organs), Matt (killed Lisa Niles), Patrick (drug addict), Ewen (kidnapper), Lisa (sociopath), Maggie (boring as heck). Robin was the only one that was sane.

If RC and FV are from the NY area and yet still choose to portray characters as traveling at the speed of light, I have to assume that they think we are either stupid or that we'd be bored to tears watching characters sit in traffic.
