SOAP BYTES: Explosions Rock Salem on DAYS; Nikki Chooses Victor over Jack on Young and Restless

DAYS BYTES:  Shaken by the explosion, Salem’s residents searched the rubble for their missing family and friends. Ian (Ian Buchanan) knelt over Madison’s (Sarah Brown) body. Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) rushed to save Abby (Kate Mansi). EJ (James Scott) held onto Sami (Alison Sweeney) for dear life — because her life really did hang by his bulging biceps.

John (Drake Hogestyn) flung Lucas (Brian Dattilo) over his shoulder and carried his limp body to the Brady Pub, where an emergency medical site had been set up by Kayla (Mary Beth Evans). When Lucas awoke he revealed Sami was trapped in a warehouse. Will (Chandler Massey) overheard and promptly rushed off to find his mother. He arrived just in time to help EJ save her.

Meanwhile, Daniel (Shawn Christian) dug through rubble in search of Nicole (Arianne Zucker). I half expected him to turn green and shout “Daniel go smash.”

Beneath Salem, Brady (Eric Martsolf), Melanie (Molly Burnett), Chad (Casey Deidrick) and Gabi (Camila Banus) tried to figure out how to escape the caved in tunnels. Brady told Melanie he was marrying Madison, as Ian professed his love to the dying woman.

Y&R: Nikki’s behavior on Y&R was awful. She looked so pathetic. Sending this text to Sharon, stealing the papers from Victor’s brief case out of Sharon’s hands … those were some unwatchable scenes. The writing has been horrible.
And even though Nikki always keeps running back to Victor, she at least had always some self-respect before. Not this time around. After getting to a new low at the Ranch, she walks out on Jack without saying another word. It’s so stupid!
You don’t get the feelings that at some point you know what these characters are thinking. You don’t get why they are acting that way. It’s just plot.
BTW, the new writing team shouldn’t be allowed to write another wedding for six months. I’m so sick of it.

B&B: So know even Pam is wondering about Liam and Hope’s love life yeah!? I don’t know what’s going on in the heads of the Bells anymore but they clearly lost it. I’m sorry but Brad Bell should not be writing this show anymore!!!!

GH: Nicely done! I loved all the emotional scenes this episode had. Even though I’m not a Lante fan, I found their scenes fun and entertaining. That’s how it’s done. Same goes for the JaSam goodbye scenes. And this comes from a Liason fan.

DAYS: EJami were amazing! Wow. Supercouple!!!!
I don’t know how poor Madison deserved to die in the arms that evil pig. A love confession!? Really Ian? I was ready to puke watching these scenes.
Poor Sarah Brown. I’ll miss her. I wished the new regime would have given her a chance. She’s such a good actress. But well they did the same to Tamara Braun. I’ll never understand it.

Y&R-How did Avery not slap Phyllis on Monday’s episode? I mean having Phyllis go on and on about how everyone betrayed her was sickening. She embarrassed herself and made a public spectical of herself. And btw, Phyllis is annoying with Nick. Shes always pawing him and kissing him. I mean, calm down. You dont have to have sex with him every minute of every day.
Btw, the pic above of Sharon. She doesnt look right. She looks like a weird looking June Cleaver or something. She is beyond irritating. I mean she walks around the Newman Ranch like she owns the place. Its annoying. And Nikki, GO HOME TO JACK!!! Your married to him!! Let Victor do what he wants. Worry about Jack.

GH-Dante and Lulu was a sweet scene when Lulu found out and told Dante she was pregnant. Dante was happy and I think Sonny will be happy too. I liked Sonny and Kate together. Took me a while to get used to Kate Sullivan as Kate but I liked it. I think they belong together because they are two broken souls. Jason and Sam. You know I liked the breakup. I liked it because the breakup meant something. Look at the clips they showed at the end? It was 4 minutes long. It wasnt just a breakup and good bye and its swept under the rug. It proved that they were over and it built into a final goodbye.

B&B-Theres nothing left to say. I mean its literally the same dialogue I’ve heard for months now. I will say all of a sudden, when did Steffy turn into Paulie D. from Jersey Shore? I never knew she was a DJ.

soapjunkie88 … your Y&R comments are so right on. I’ve said it before, but I think it’s appalling that Nikki could destroy any chance of happiness by running back yet again to HIM. A pathetic depiction of a horribly abused spouse. It’s made even worse by the fact that there isn’t anyone around that doesn’t really think he’s again up to his tried and true tricks and ruses. Hopefully this time the two timeless lovebirds will just fade off to Hope’s farm (which I think he owns) and leave us all in peace.

Mets82 … and you are also right on, especially concerning Phyllis. She’s become even more grating and could use a couple or more hard well placed slaps. She did the deed, she got caught. Of course I live in fear that she is going to somehow not ever have to pay for it.

Nikki deserves Victor and all of his crap. Jack better not let her back into the Abbott Mansion. Kick the bitch to the curb. Enough of this yo-yo garbage. It’s so old and awful. No wonder MAB got canned. UGH.

I can not believe that Nikki, after a couple days of marriage, has just walked out on Jack. I actually felt sorry for him, but Jack is an idiot for thinking Nikki would ever completely walk away from Victor. She is an addict and Victor is her drug of choice. I was really hoping she was finally done with him—-at least for a year or so—-but a couple days after her wedding and she’s off searching for Vic with no clue where to go?
Done. Done. Done. I want all kinds of bad to happen to Nik when she gets back.

BTW, I do realize that this is to accommodate Melody’s vacation, but really? They couldn’t think of another way write her out? What about the honeymoon? She and Peter both could have logically been off screen for a couple weeks without totally and completely ruining the Nikki character, at least for me.

Has anyone noticed lately that Dr Kayla Brady seems to be stuck inside of Brady Pub as if it is the twillight zone? Atleast this week they are alowing her to practice medicine at the pub instead of fish mongering…… Really, how many doctors put their practice on hold to run the family diner? None. They hire a manager to run the family pub/town hangout.

I actually find the Nikki/Sharon scenes very entertaining despite the fact that this umpteenth one-eighty character switch on Sharon has allowed some very bad acting from Sharon Case to surface(sorry, but Case does a piss-poor job at being a bitch).

Agree with everyone about Phyllis(I was actually hoping that Nina would get up from that table at Gloworm and give it to her about running down Cricket and Paul during all that bullshit yelling with Avery; if anyone can stand toe-to-toe with Phyllis it’s Nina). Also hilarious how Michael and Lauren are worried that Dr.Tim is gonna spill the beans on her; she runs down two of your oldest friends–not to mention they were you’re ex-fiancee and ex-husband, respectively–and you’re worried about Phyllis? I do not understand the neverending fight by these writers to constantly make Phyllis the victim in her own damn schemes; it’s pathetic not to mention lazy.

B&B – Anyone else tired of Steffy going on and on about how immature Hope is? I’m not arguing for Hope as much as I’m arguing against Liam. Hope leaves him and what does he do? Throw a fit and give her engagement ring to Steffy. He thinks left him at the altar? His response is to attempt to run away with Steffy. As immature as that Hope is, Liam is sure high maintenance!

I’m really over disaster stories on Soaps, when AMC had the Tornado in ’94 it was awesome, but in 2012 its been done to death. The only scenes worth watching were Sami/EJ/Will and I really hope that the new writers keep up with has already been established with them, anytime one of them has been on the screen in the past year Days was must see tv.

Meh Megan’ Wards Kate was better than Sullivan’s like a punch in the face is better than a kick in the balls. Both ladies are talented enough but I’ve never had much interest in the character.

Seriously, how far up was that catwalk that Sami was hanging off of? When Roman arrived and pointed his gun at EJ, it didn’t appear to be that high off of the ground, but when she was hanging for dear life, it seemed like she was deathly afraid of falling?

and poor Matthew Ashford, how many times? Let me count the ways.

    1. When Abby was born
    2. When Jen and Abby returned in 2000 from Africa
    3. When Jack was “killed” in 2003
    4. When Jack faked his death to push Frankie and Jenn together.
    5. Jack goes to Afghanistan
    6. Jack and the Elevator

and I think there might have been a story in the late 80s when he developed cancer and pushed Jenn away. Also, what was the story with Hawk?

Ha, I really enjoyed reading soapjunkie88 post above. However, Bell’s are no longer writers or involved in the show.. With Maria Bell being the most current to be let go, Marie Bell is the wife of William Bell, Jr., the oldest son of William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell. Head wrote the show since December 2007. Maria was named Executive Producer in October 2008 after Josh Griffith was ousted for tampering with her stories. Bell brought along veteran producer Paul Rauch to help her with the production of the show while she mostly focused on the stories. From 2008 to 2010 she was credited as co-executive producer as well as Rauch while her credit appeared first. Under her run, she brought the show’s fictional Jabot Cosmetics to life by teaming up with a real cosmetics marketing company to help distribute the products. Bell was let go in July 2012 after years of fan complaints.

New writer Jill Farren Phelps 2012–present

Appointed to be EP in July 2012 upon the firing of Maria Arena Bell. This marked the second CBS soap opera Phelps executive produced with the first being Guiding Light from 1991-1995. Her episodes are scheduled to begin airing around late September or October so well see how that goes, many worried she’ll be letting the older characters go.
