Hollywood Heights' Robert Adamson Cast as Noah on The Young and the Restless!

Looks like I'm two for two on Wishful Castings of late! First my suggestion that Everybody Hates Chris teen heartthrob Tequan Richmond take over the role of TJ on General Hospital became a reality; now The Young and the Restless has cast Hollywood Heights' hunk Robert Adamson as the new Noah Newman!  Here's the casting scoop from the Soap Opera Digest Facebook Page:

That was fast. YOUNG AND RESTLESS has already cast the next actor to take over the role of Noah Newman, last played by Kevin Schmidt. He's Robert Adamson, who just wrapped up a run on Nickelodeon's HOLLYWOOD HEIGHTS as Phil. Adamson, who beings taping on September 4 and will first air on October 1, will work again with HH's former Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps and Head Writer Josh Griffith, who now hold the same posts respectively on Y&R.

Majorly awesome news! Adamson, who also appeared in the ABC Family drama Lincoln Heights, definitely favors Noah's TV dad Joshua Morrow (Nick). I predict Adamson will bring a much-needed edge and sex appeal to the role of the Newman scion. I can't get enough of him as bady boy thief Phil on HH.

I had an inkling things looked good for Adamson when CBS Daytime Vice-President Angelica McDaniel responded to the Daytime Confidential tweet of my Wishful Casting. See the exchange below:

Sharon Case and Joshua Morrow are rapidly becoming the Angela Lansbury of Soapdom. They were 14 and 11 respectively when new Noah was born.

Oh wow. That was fast. Great idea Jamey. I remember him from Lincoln Heights. He is a cutie and a pretty good actor. At least we know he has no problem with diversity!

Yoryla...I feel bad for the old Noah as they jerked him around like crazy. I wonder how they'll use this new boy. Cute, but will he fit in with Sharon and Nick like the old Noah...not sure.

Yes, he is certainly cute but I just hate that they have now cast "a tall, dark & handsome" type from a certain mold, so he can play front-burner storylines, because they thought that Kevin Schmidt couldn't. Umm, actually, yes he COULD HAVE. There was absolutely NO need for this recast.

Also, it was so predictable that JFP would tap into her Hollywood Heigths connection. I don't like it. Don't bring in any newbies JFP, even recasts. I don't trust her - she brings them on because she PERSONALLY likes how someone looks and doesn't even care about their acting skills. Superficial bitch.

Unless Noah Newman grows a pair, there's no need to recast his character. His mealy mouthed "I just want my mother to be happy" bs is more than I can stomach. Your mother is dating your grandfather after being married to your dad, your stepgrandfather, and she slept with two of your uncles and "you just want her to be HAPPY"?! Get real. I would think what he'd really want is for her date OUTSIDE the family!

You are always welcome to stop watching. I guess you will do that in November when they fire Genie.

Coffee_Junkie, the ever-annoying pest who just has to stick it's beak into whatever comes it's way.

Yes, if and when Genie leaves it will empty the show's meaning for me a LOT. However, that alone might not necessarily kill it completely. But, if they fire or back-burn all folk over 50, I don't see how my interest can hold. Those are the primary people I watch the show for.

Not that you deserved an answer.

I have to wonder about some comments.

Oh yeah, it's "horrible news" because this actor could be able to play Noah as lead & looks like the son of Joshua Morrow. How could JFP or Jamey ever consider him for that role, right!?

Kevin Schmidt didn't grow up on the show nor has he been on Y&R for 10 years and got fired. He was a recurring player, appearing every other six months! And part of it is because Schmidt wants to do other projects. He was never able to fully commit to Y&R.

@Yoryla: I've been reading your passive/aggressive or even offensive posts for a while now. Are those really necessary?
In a nice and civil discussion, I would like to add that I don't understand your thinking. You don't want any newbies or recasts on Y&R for the moment but the show loses meaning, feels empty for you or might even kill it for you when a character that has been there for just a year is leaving?
If you watch Y&R for Genie Francis that's fine but why bother with stuff like this then? Why getting upset over a recurring player that's not longer on the show? Should be not worth arguing and getting into it with other posters.

soapjunkie,

First of all, if you mean that my posts have been offensive to other posters, the only co-poster I might have treated offensively has been Coffee_Junkie, and those, like this post above, have been RESPONSES to things she has said to me. If you read the above posts, you clearly see that she addressed me in saying that "I can always stop watching." Which is pretty offensive to me, I would never say something like that to her out of the blue.

Secondly, I know you and I feel differently about GF being on this show, and that is fine. I have followed your posting and I like your thinking and opinions in general. This particular topic is just something we don't see eye-to-eye on. But in the same way, I understand completely people's lack of interest in newbies. I could care less about people like Angelo, Angelina, Anita, Chelsea, Sarge, nuKyle etc.

But Genevieve just happens to be the one I really truly like. I love the actress but also the character. Yes, the writing for Genevieve HAS been all over the place and the storylines have been weird. I wished for better writing as much as the next viewer. However, she still remains my favorite. Nikki used to be my all-time #1 favorite character, but gradually Genevieve has taken that spot, and as a matter of fact these days I don't really care about Nikki at all.

Thidly, re: Noah Newman. I liked Kevin Schmidt, period. The best thing that could have happened was to put him front-burner and go ahead with the planned gay storyline. That didn't come to pass, and it is just saddening to me, that the new regime has a stereotypical image of what a leading man (or his son) on a soap should be like. There was absolutely nothing wrong with Kevin Schmidt. There was no need for a recast of Noah. They wan't him to be the classic "tall, dark and handsome ladies-man" á la Victor. Which imo is ridiculous. This is 2012, not 1950. And the fact that they made this decision just speaks volumes of the overall direction that the how will most likely take. And it also strengthens the image I have of Jill Farren Phelps. And I don't like it. There was no upset or argument.

@Yoryla: The question is when you are trying to fix and save this show is GF important to that? The answer is no. To fix Y&R you need to get back to the core characters. GF character is not core nor is she important to the future or the past on Y&R. So even as you like the actress, you have to admit that she is not necessary or is a necessity for Y&R.

david: Do I think GF leaving will be the downfall and destruction of the show? -No. But the same can be said about any character. No single character who leaves the show alone will destroy it. Not even Victor and Katherine. It is bad writing that ultimately destroys a show. With good writing any departure can be overcome.

And I totally agree - Y&R DOES need to show core characters. But haven't we got them now? That is the thing - I believe we will see LESS of them in the future not more. With the exception of Katherine and Jill, most vets right now have a storyline. People like Victor, Nikki, Paul, Jack, Michael, Sharon are featured prominently. Do you really think that's gonna last once these changes start to kick in? No. The vets that aren't fired or back-burned, will be in supporting roles á la Brooke & Ridge on B&B - discussing the love lives of their children, in stead of living their own.

I am shocked at how people think under the reign of JFP this show will magically improve. It will CHANGE that is for sure, but I don't see it being for the better.

@Yoryla: I didn't want to come off harsh or anything. I only referred to your last three posts anyway. And what I meant to say is that sometimes it's not worth getting into an argument. But I think you already know that.

Regarding Noah, of course Kevin Schmidt could have been lead material. But for that the boy would had to fully commit to Y&R. And that's something he wasn't ready for. Even if they did the gay storyline with him it wouldn't really had an impact because he was barely on. Then they decided to go another direction anyway which I welcomed. I didn't want MAB to tell a gay storyline. She already tried that with two other recurring characters - Phillip and Rafe. And was it good? I can barely remember.

I see Robert Adamson as a chance to improve this character and give him much needed complexity. If any teenager on that show should have been troubled and should have been Noah Newman. Look at his childhood and all the drama he faced. Robert Adamson is a fine young actor and goes beyond stereotype or type casting. Just wait what they do with the role. People should never judge too soon.

The same goes for the role JFP is playing now. The woman has a past and it doesn't look good but as Jamey and a few others already said, she won't have to same freedom at Y&R as she had on GH. People also shouldn't forget that over at ABC much of the influence concerning the vets came from Brian Frons. JFP isn't to blame for everything bad that happened over the years at GH. Of course she made mistakes before that ... but again Sony is in control. CBS has a nice and dedicated executive named Angelica McDaniel. Those people are the ones in charge over what JFP is doing.
And as for the writing ... there comes Josh Griffith who is talented and proved that he can write for generations. Again just wait & see. If the show sucks, you can still complain.

At the moment, I see that as a chance for Y&R to get better. When I look at the show now I can barely picture that it can get any worse. Even IF all vets would be fired, as long as the writing is good it's going to be better than now IMO.

Too bad that JFP let Kevin Schmidt go. The kid could really pull a scene off as Sharon's son, could really get the tears going. Held his own during the entire Sharon-is-not-really dead s/l last year.

Hopefully this new person can rise to the level of Kyle and Eden (shouldn't be too hard), and have a serious triangle going on. As long as he doesn't come back from some music or boarding school, all pi$$ed off like Kyle was, or Abby was. I seriously hope the next re-cast is of Eden. Boring one-note JHessie Heap has to go.

Keep CK. Keep my daughter and her friends happy. The 'Lane' s/l is one of their favorites.

"Lane" needs to be spun off onto the Disney Channel and leave Y&R to the actors who can actually ACT.

Yoryla...I got your back and agree about Genie. Her character could evolve and actually was when paired with Jack. Don't know why that was shelved.

Some people who post on here do nothing but criticize other's posts. Remember we all are just stating opinion. Unless any of you actually worked for Bill Bell I won't bow to your comments. Sorry y'all.

Like Lane too. Sorry junkie...
