RUMOR REPORT: Billy Miller and Michael Graziadei LEAVING Young and Restless — on Their Own Terms!

While most of the late-breaking casting news out of Genoa City has had women exiting stage left. I'm hearing two dudes are thisclose to making good on long-rumored plans to leave The Young and the Restless. Both Billy Miller (Billy) and Michael Graziadei (Daniel) have decided not to renew their contracts, according to multiple sources.

"These guys made their decisions to leave before Jill [Farren Phelps] and Josh [Griffith] came onboard," says one setsider. "This isn't part of the bloodbath."

The two popular actors have been booking a slew of gigs in primetime in recent years. Daytime Emmy winner Miller, who has played Abbott bad boy Billy since 2008, had an integral role in The CW's short-lived Sarah Michelle Gellar vehicle Ringer. He also starred in the recent, high profile Lifetime movie Fatal Honeymoon.

Graziadei, who reportedly only signed a six-month extension of his last contract at Y&R, appeared in recurring roles on both The CW's The Secret Circle and FX's American Horror Story. He has been playing the role of Phyllis Summers' (Michelle Stafford) son Daniel on Y&R since 2004.

Well well.

So FOUR WOMEN get fired and these two guys leave on their own terms?

The Graz should have left a long time ago. Sad for Billy Miller leaving, but it isn't any wonder. He belongs in primetime, he can do so much better than a soap.

I'm amazed The Graz stuck around this long. He lands so much primetime work. Always so busy, booking plenty of outside gigs. He is truly a working actor.

The Graz was fantastic on "American Horror Story". I've been expecting him to leave for years. I think he'll do great -- just like Bethel Wilson and Lyndsy Fonseca. Their careers soared after Y&R.

Michael Graziadei is, by far, the most talented young actor on the show.

This is not good news. All of these characters leaving at once does not bode well for the show. Changes need to be done slowly so that the essence of the soap is not lost. Replacements take a long time to be accepted. We viewers love continuity, that is one of the reasons we are addicted to soaps. This is scary news because I want Y&R to be on for a very long time. How can the ratings stay up if so many characters leave at once?

I'm happy for MG because I've always liked him and he's so good looking, too. Billy Miller leaving suits me just fine cause I've never really liked him. Maybe AH will depart with him??

I dont know why MG has stayed so long but he should've cut ties with YR a long time ago. ITA about BM - his leaving will suit me just fine since Villy i can barely stand the character of Billy.

Sorry to see Bm leave. MG is no big deal. He has morphed into a very greasy looking actor. Cut the hair for goodness sake. The character actually drives me to the point of FF when he is on.

I think we need an emergency podcast. This makes me think of the bloodbaths at DOOL when we lost Diedre, Drake, Theo, Marybeth and Stephen in quick succession a few year ago. Not saying that some of these people don't need to go but hopefully not to make room for James Franco. Shudder....

They both should have been gone. They see the writing on the wall...they are probably going to try and get work in a more stable industry. Best of luck to them. I don't want to hear budget cuts as a reason when JFP fires Kristoff St. John (it's coming, watch...).

Well damn. I saw it coming but I was in denial.

I like how JFP said that the Abbotts will become more focuses again. That is kind of difficult when there is only ONE ABBOTT ON THE SCREEN.

And I guess this really IS the end of Villy.

Lame.

If they recast Victoria... I'M OUT.

Graz & Miller are in their 30's already. If they want to make it in prime time, they need to make a move before they get too old -- or else they risk being typecast as soap actors. Besides, they're not getting any younger. They spent their 20's in soaps, do they really want to waste the prime years of their 30's in soaps too? I think not! Especially if they are booking other jobs. Strike while the iron is hot! If they hang around a few more years, they'll be pushing 40, and run out of other options & opportunities.

Eva Longoria, Shemar Moore, Eddie Cibrian... they all went on to do bigger and better things. And they left before they were 30!

Both of these actors owe it to themselves to go out and try to get work outside of daytime. THey have both had some success outside of Y&R already. I think, down the road, both roles could be recast.

Best wishes to both.I will miss both.Probably Billy will leave when Victoria finds he has been hiding daddy dearest. As for MG,he probablt stayed on Y&R for a steady paycheck. He got the chance to do other things, while still knowing he had an income. Now,he knows he can get other roles, and figures it's time to leave.

Sad to see Billy Miller go and I had Michael Graz on my list of people that JFP should fire but as we now know, Michael decided to leave on his own accord. I think the last time we will see him will be at the conclusion or shortly thereafter of Phyllis' trial. I also suspect that he will take Lucy with him as well. And with the rumor report of Jennifer Landon (Heather Stevens) being cut, it would be nice to send those two off screen together to raise baby Lucy. At this juncture, recasting the role of Heather........again would be ill advised. Jennifer Landon is now the 3rd actress to play the role and she had a much better handle on the character than Eden Reigel did. While Jennifer didn't play her like the sexy vixen that Vail Bloom did when she came on to the show, she showed Heather's soft side while at the same time showing her tough side, especially during interrogation scenes. Vail Bloom never did get to do interrogation scenes, much less see the inside of a court room, at least not my recollection.

So, do not recast Heather. Recast Billy Abbott and I would leave Daniel off-screen for about 6 months to a year before recasting. He's NOT that important to the canvas that is Y&R and I suspect that Josh Griffith will be having Phyllis on the back burner for an undetermined amount of time after her trial that having Daniel around would be a waste of monetary resources that Jill Farren Phelps could use to update the sets and stuff.

JMO!

I agree ChristianDavis148

I see Daniel and Heather running off into the sunset together with Lucy. I can see them coming back eventually -- married with a kid of their own (with new faces, of course).

Billy Abbott is needed on scene. He will be recast. I guess the big question will be if they keep him married to Victoria or not. Villy are insanely popular. I can see them breaking up for a bet as they try to find someone with chemistry with PB and AH.

Y&R has really pimped Villy as their new *IT* couple, so that alone makes me think they will want to figure out how to make it work with the new person.

I also suspect that a NuAbby will come back looking like the rest of the Newmans heirs -- light eyes, dark hair. Nick, Victoria, and Adam all looked like siblings. Abby did not. That will be fixed.

It's probably a good thing for both actors to leave while they are still young enough to pursue other projects. As we know daytime soaps are a dying breed and it's not a good idea to get typecast on a genre that is dying out. I got a vibe from MG the past few years that he was 'too cool for school' anyway.

It does seem a bit unfair that the actresses are getting pink slipped while the actors are leaving on their own. I suppose that's the way it goes in Jill's world.

Here is what I'd love for JFP to do:

DE-SORAS Abby, Kyle, Fen and Summer. MAB stupidly SORAS'ed all of these characters waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too soon. For one thing, Kyle is older than Abby and yet Abby gets SORAS'ed before Kyle does. Kyle went from a 10 year old to a 21 year old in the span of two months, which tells me that MAB is stupider than a doorknob! As for Fen and Summer, they need to hire younger actors/actresses for both of those roles. They were SORAS'd too soon.

How are all these people going to be written out at once? Is there going to be a Clear Springs-type of disaster in Genoa City?

There still haven't been any cast cuts or exits that I find truly upsetting. Both these guys can act but the show will be fine without them. They really should have Victoria leave with Billy, wait a couple of months, and then have her return, being played by a better actress.

I am going to start attending church again just to pray and light candles for Steve Burton not to get cast on Y&R. I had my fill of him on GH.

Frankly, neither of these exits bother me. They're both great actors--though I'll say Miller is highly overrated and Graziadei highly underrated--but I've never been a Billy fan and Daniel has been rudderless since Amber left (I think Daniel peaked with Lily and they ruined him a little sticking him with world's-oldest-teen Amber). Miller's exit, however, will indeed throw a wrench into the Villy situation; the miniscule scraps of goodwill that Amelia Heinle actually manages to get from viewers are almost excusively tied to that pairing. With all the cuts and exits going on, maybe now's the time to pull the trigger and recast Victoria.

I wish both much success but MG & BM, but Daniel has been just floating and no real story time for a break. MAB had a lost opportunity to revisit Daniel/Lily and keep Cane DEAD. Lane fans are not true lover of Y&R as a whole show but their agenda for Lane...I'm a fan of the whole show and all characters! Angry They need to recast Billy w\Josh Kelly. No surprise about Heather, I love JL and like her portrayal best but too many recast after recast became to much to handle.

SB isn't going come on here as Billy Abbott! Please NO!

I don't understand how many people can wish for recasts. IMO recasting should always be the LAST choice. If they need more characters, invent new (viable) ones so an actor can leave their mark on it.

No single character is that important that just that particular character has to be on the show. Who says Victoria has to be there? Victor has two other children who most likely will stay on.

For instance, Heather, they can't possibly recast her again - that would be the fourth actress. No way.

Kyle isn't older than Abby. Abby was born a few months before him. They are the same age.

At this point I don't even mind that Kyle and Abby have been made older. It is believable since their parents are older. And there is potential SL with them in the early 20s crowd.

Summer? She shouldn't have been SORAS'd so soon. It really is unrealistic that Nick Newman has a 20+ year old son and a 15 year old daughter. I wish they would fix that.

Fen could be a teenager. Lauren and Michael are both in their late 40s/early 50s and that is believable. We do need teens on this show. Just not unrealistic rushed ones.

Graz may be a good actor but Daniel has been a pretty useless character for a while. I think letting the character rest for a time until they can figure out what to do with him is a good idea and bring him back with someone who's committed to the show. I feel Abby leaving is a good idea because they clearly don't know what to do with her either.

As for miller, I'm sure it was his choice just like it was Jonathan Jaxksons choice when he left GH only not. I think what's happening is with 4 soaps left and utterly thousands of talented cheaper actors available, there is no reason for these shows to go out of their ways to cater to folks who have one foot out the door already. Billy can be recast easily, he has been. Send him off for a while when BM leaves and bring him back with a new face in a few months. I don't know how anyone can say Miller leaving is so damaging when he's. been off canvas so much the past 2 years as its been. Soaps are an ensemble. OT a showcase for so called super actors. It's time these shows start remembering that.

Seriously? No offense but Victoria is will always be Victor's true heir. They have made that perfectly clear since the day the girl was born. Yes Adam is manipulative like him, Nick is his first born son, and Abby is a spoiled princess -- yada yada. But make no mistake Victoria Nicole Newman was raised to take over.

It seems a little harder now that Amelia Henle is in the role and is so drastically different from Heather Tom, but it is what it is. This is why Victor is the hardest on her. This is why he is always going on and one about how SHE would be by HIS side at the end.

Victoria is destined to take over. When HT left the show scrambled for years to find a replacement because her presence was a serious lack on the show. She in many ways is the heart of the Newmans.

I wish they would get back to that.

Glad for the Graz. I've never liked Daniel anyways.

Sad about Billy Miller, but he never seems to be around, always off to book new gigs, we need someone committed to the role. Maybe we can also finally get a Victoria recast?

But with Abby gone, Billy leaving, and actor who plays Kyle booking a recurring gig on Vampire Diaries, and Ashley already, how exactly is this bringing new life to the Abbotts? Jack will be the only Abbott left. Hopefully they plan on recasting some of these roles.

According to Michael Bruno, any actor over the age of 25, with few exceptions is already too "old" to SUCCESSFULLY transition from soaps into primetime and film. But I never believed that tomfoolery. After all, look at Cynthia Watros and Wendy Moniz. They transitioned and were past this "golden age."

I will miss both of these men. Michael G. is certified eye candy and a good actor, once you manage to look past those ridiculous hairdos...

And Billy Miller is one of the best things to happen to this show in a long time. He infuses it with humor and makes Amelia Heinous tolerable. Speaking of Amelia Heinous, can she leave with him...........please? I hope that Kill Farren Phelps can accomplish what Jack Smith, Lynn Latham and Maria Bell were afraid to do and RECAST Tricktoria Newman with a CAPABLE actress. I hate to see ANYONE out of a job in this economy, but I am sure that if push comes to shove, Michael Weatherly will throw some money her way. After all, they do have a child together...........

Okay, I have gotten my bitchiness out of the way for the day. Off to the mall...........

My first reaction was: Only one Abbott standing! Then I thought again and forgot that next to Jack we would still have Kyle.^^

Well has been coming for a very long time. Billy Miller just needs to be in primetime. No doubt about that. I can't think of a Billy Abbott recast and would feel like post-David Tom all over again.

Michael Graziadei's last good storyline was Daniel's love story with Amber. IMO Michael should have left with Adrienne Frantz and since Amber's B&B return was one big disappointment I would say that this should have been undone too.
