Devon had chemistry with Lily but unfortunately, they decided to make them related! And in terms of non-romantic chemistry, he always had chemistry with Dru and Neil. Heck, he even had some great scenes with Victor, which I had hoped would go somewhere (being that both Victor & Devon spent some time in institutionalized care-- Victor in an orphanage and Devon in foster care) but sadly the writers missed an opportunity for an uncomfortable situation between Neil and Victor over Devon and who would be his role model. Sigh.

Under Hogan Sheffer...uh, I mean MAB's direction, Devon was on a long list of characters that were marginalized and shunted off to the side.

Marcy Rylan is a talented actress, who will probably be snapped up elsewhere but I've been hardened to these terminations ever since they killed off Colleen. I really don't understand why Abby was SORASed so drastically in the first place. Is the character gone or will there be a space down the road (6 months to a year from now) to bring in a slightly younger version of Abby. The SORASing has gotten out of control and it kind of started with Abby. Perhaps this is an opportunity to step back a bit.

LMAO at B&B's Time Warp. NY Fashion Week just ended and B&B should've had someone attend and take notes! Sounds like the BOLDest thing about the Bold & The Beautiful these days is Dayzee's hairstyle. What are these soap writers doing nowadays??

@MsAgentProvocateur1: Lil miss CK went in there told them that they could not put her with Devon. She said that herself.

OK... @LukeKerr... I have tried to remain silent about your hate for Bryton/Devon... but I'm done being diplomatic!!! You like Judith Chapman... enough said!!! Bryton is a great actor, I mean he won an Emmy for goodness sakes, and Devon is Katherine's grandson, there is a lot that can be done with him, but past regimes have done nothing but use him as a talk to for Lily and Neil!!!

I say, kill off Roxy, give Bryton some very emotional material to work with and then bring in a descent actress who they are willing to write for, color does not have to be a factor, they could even bring in a previous female character from the past and pair her with Devon. TO Luke: BACK OFF BRYTON!!!!

As for Debbi Morgan, I want to see her come to GH as Faith Ward, Edward's granddaughter, and it could tie in with Edward/John Ingle's memorial episode. They should make Shawn her half-brother, Bradley's illegitimate son and tie them into the Quartermaine family.

@david46208: I have heard that. That's the fault of TPTB for letting actors rule the roost (a big problem on Y&R for the past several years now).

I don't agree with how Alfred Hitchcock sometimes handled his actors (particularly the female ones- which he was noted to treat in an obsessive manner) but there is a lot of merit to the ethos that an actor's job is to interpret what is already laid out for them under the guidance of the director, nothing more, nothing less.

Y&R, in the state its been in for the past few years, is the end result of actors dictating terms relating to their storyline. Of course, nothing good came of it.

So far, there's not one single move with regards to the Y&R cast that JFP has made that I find objectionable.

The people she's let go and the people she's allowing to leave were really not doing very much. That's probably more M.A. Bell's fault than theirs; but, to quote Jillian, "It is what it is."

Re Devon: I think a big part of why the character doesn't create much fan interest is the fact that Drusilla, the woman who made a home for him in her family and involved herself in every aspect of his life, isn't there anymore.

The Devon character needs to be cooled off for a while and then put back more with his family, not the nufamily of Tucker and Kay. And I agree, if Dru is back the character would probably be more interesting. He's like Chloe and Kevin for me. I liked them before, just have bored me to tears for lack of a compelling story. Please get him out of that damn studio.

Devon needs an on screen romance...that is all he is lacking. But the writers had ample opportunity but backed off it several times. They teased him with Chloe, Amber, and finally Abby...he had chemistry with them all. Especially Chloe and Abby...but the writers wouldn't go through with it.

I agree with whoever above said that Roxy needs to go. The character has become a hinderance.

I don't blame CK for nixing the pairing between Lily and Devon. If they wanted to do a Devon and Lily pairing then they should have allowed Victor to adopt him instead of Neil and Dru. Now, don't get it twisted, I do believe that when the character was dreamed up, he was always suppose to be paired with Lily. The writers played around with it for YEARS. It seems to be over now. Thank the soap gods.

Bryton didn't just win an Emmy...he won an Emmy in 2007 when there were many more shows on the air and much more competition. He has actual talent. And is quite good looking.

I love the idea of bringing Debbie Morgan to GH (even though I hate the OLTL characters that have been brought over with no ties to anyone in Port Charles). She was miscast by MAB but would do great as a dr or even a lost member of the Ward/Quartermaine clan as suggested above by Nk3. At this point just want to see the Q's built back up. Hope SK is being brought back to play AJ. Now we just need one of Tracy's children to come back to town.

LoL maybe if Devon would've been adopted into the Newman family, he would've had tons of story!!!! I mean, the Newmans are the family that eats the show now, so maybe it would've worked out for his character... and it would've really put Victor and Tucker against one another from day one!!!

As for storylines that should and would be great; I say bring back Chance and put him a in a triangle with Abby and Devon... then you have Victor's daughter in between Katherine and Jill's grandsons!!! It would definitely renew Kay and Jill's rivalry while utilizing members from several major families, the Chancellors/Fenmores, the Newmans/Abbotts, the Winters, etc, etc!!!

Though I honestly do prefer Marcy Rylan as Abby, I may eventually accept the right recast!!!

SoapArmageddon....ITA the cuts were a necessary evil and more will be coming ahead. I did love MR as Abby, I'm not a hater of Abby. She was at times whiny, shrill but that stems from being both a Newman & Abbott always being pulled apart....MR showed Abby's many sides...soft, moral compass (Ashley) her temper, vengeful, controlling side (Victor), we seen her manic, annoying side of Abby, seen her a loving sibling to all but more so towards Colleen..(damn you MAB!) ...played perfectly by MR.

PS...I wish JFP & Josh could correct that HUGE mistake and bring Colleen back, she was Traci's only child and a blood grandchild to John. I would watch a silly fantastical story to have the Carlton's back. Sad( Sad(

Great podcast guys! I hope I remember everything that I wanted to comment on...here goes.

Katie's talk show - I agree with Jamey about the interviewing skills, and if they are doing an ad buy, then no wonder Katie can't go hard on them. I agree that she has the capability to do it. Based upon the BTS Oprah shows, she didn't accept those guidelines about what she can and cannot ask. I saw Oprah's interview with Usher on OWN. She didn't let up on Usher at all, regardless of how long winded his responses were. Stark difference.

DAYS - Count me as one viewer that DAYS lost with the possession storyline. I was a kid coming home from school and I watched DAYS every day because it was the latest soap that came on in my area. I loved the show...until Marlena was possessed. I turned the channel and to this day, I will not watch an episode of DAYS. I don't watch now out of habit, but back then, I didn't play with spirits. I felt that the wrong spirit could come through the TV. I didn't watch horror movies then either. Children of the Corn is yet another hurdle that I have to overcome from my childhood...moving on.

Y&R - There was a TON of potential for Devon's character. i like what the poster upthread said about Dru. She was the one that made Devon family. Neil came to the party late...but it needs to be said that neither one of them was shown that much and when they were on screen, they were a good father and son. That being said, he had mad chemistry with Chloe. I am still mad about that. I didn't want him with Lily either.

GH - I don't think Natalie or Victor make any sense on GH. Outside of John's son, there is no need to even mention Natalie. However I do fear that she will show up in PC. I am not a fan of Natalie, can you tell? I can only hope that rumors are true that Liz will turn into Marty so she can throw Natalie off a roof again. John doesn't need a son on screen. He can have visitation off screen. Victor can show up in Llanview and they can call Todd and tell him that he is still alive. Todd can deal with Starr for the reveal, Starr is the only one that has supported him anyway.

Whew...there goes that.

I think I understand what Luke was talking about with OLTL characters. I've watched GH for over 10 years but I wouldn't mind Vicki showing up for an episode its not like she would be taking over the show and it would just be a cameo appearance.

Ooooh...

that reminds me, I agree with Jamey on the issue of OLTL characters to GH. GH has a 50 year history, and this year should be spent focusing on what has made GH great for those 50 years. There is a fine balance between honoring that history and honoring the new viewers that started watching due to the OLTL characters.

Great podcast guys!

But as a Sharon stan, I mean fan, Ima have to cut for her Wink. Sharon's work experience is NOT only as a spokesmodel. She and Nick ran Crimson Lights together for years. They even opened a sister site in Madison, something that often had Sharon go out of town for brief trips because she was originally from there before she and her mother arrived in GC shortly after Sharon gave up Cassie for adoption. She did this because Victor was angry that Nick had a side hustle on top of being groomed, following his drive-thru degree from GCU, as heir to the Newman Enterprises throne. After a while Sharon and Nick kind of let that manager dude (he was fine but forgot his name - Chip?, what happened to him?) run the coffeehouse and they owned it in name only until they sold it to Kevin and Mackenzie. Sharon never worked as a spokesmodel until after that Cameron Kirsten SL. That's when she became spokesmodel du jour - first at Jabot (with Nick paying her under the table), but then after that Sharon worked for Drucilla as an assistant (non modeling) when Nick was appointed CEO and he appointed Dru as Director of the cosmetics division (Victoria was still gluing crafts projects together back in Italy). She would eventually become a spokesmodel for Seasons, which eventually became Beauty of Nature (aha, that's when that blasted line originated!), but before the line was launched, she did work with Dru (ANOTHER former spokesmodel) develop the line. Brad would eventually take over and after Cassie's death Sharon resumed her spokesmodel role. I think she was also supposed to be the spokesmodel for NVP, but that's when LML started all that business fuckery with Clear Springs and whole lot of other mess (The reliquary - egads!). My point is don't y'all dare compare my Sharon to that insipid little Lily...LOL!

I'm with Luke on the neverending weddings in Stephanie's living room on B&B. But at least B&B weddings look like weddings. Dayzee (Gah - I hate that spelling) and Mushmouth, I mean Marcus, at least got an umbrella cast wedding that looked like a boss ass wedding. Y&R has people getting married at the damned bar(ugh, that hideous Chlovin/Gloria-Jeffrey double wedding), and in a country kitchen and shit. Y&R weddings used to be 1-2 day glamorous extravaganzas involving much if not all of the cast. This budget basement crap on Y&R has to stop. But then MAB was a fan at having a wedding on the show every 3 months, regardless of outcome. Like Jamey said, weddings on daytime used to be the endgame following a long term courtship with all the odds and naysayers against the given couple. I mean this comment for all of the final four: they need to stop having these couplings and insta-weddings slapped together on a whim. Especially since they can't afford to do the big splashy weddings of yesteryear, make these weddings actually mean something (before all the conflict of break-ups) or don't bother. I have to admit I got all sentimental over the Bridge clips on B&B, but 7 weddings is redonk. Hope, Liam, and Steffi's odd love triangle of dry humping and weddings every other week or so is also redonk. *sigh*

Great podcast.

Genie didn't bring the numbers like MAB insisted she would. But.....didn't Tristan Rogers? True the ratings didn't exactly skyrocket when he was on, but I believe the numbers spiked a bit, and STAYED up the entire time he was on the show. I saw a lot of people in the social media saying that they were watching, because of HIM (I've seen that for GF too, but to a much lesser degree).

If I'm right, what a BONEHEADED decision of MAB to get RID of Tristan (very abruptly, I might add) and cram the poorly received and ill-conceived GENEVIEVE down our throats. I am sooooo hoping Tristan returns with Jess. It would be a sweet victory, IMO, LOL!

@thecour99: I rebuke thee! Don't you put out in the ether for Natalie to show up!
