Are Will and Sonny Doomed on Days of Our Lives?

As I watched Days of Our Lives on Monday, I had a moment where I wondered if Salem was suddenly in a parallel universe. Surprisingly, it was Sami (Alison Sweeney) who provided the unanticipated moment. While asking Rafe (Galen Gering) if Nicole’s (Arianne Zucker) baby was really his, she offered to help cover up the secret if it wasn’t Rafe’s child. Quite frankly, this is something you don’t see happen very often.

Meanwhile, Nicole was wracked with grief over the loss of another baby when she discovered Daniel (Shawn Christian) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) together at the hospital.  She fled to a patient room where she broke down and began destroying everything.

Here’s something about Jennifer I’ve been wondering for a while. Is it possible the flaxen haired beauty has some hidden anger issues?

Lucas (Bryan Datillo) continued to struggle with Will (Chandler Massey) dating Sonny (Freddie Smith). Kate (Lauren Koslow) provided some motherly advice to her son, but I have a feeling this may take Lucas longer than he’d like. Lucas left his mother and made his way to Sonny’s coffee shop, where he apologized to Will and Sonny.  After Lucas' apology, Sonny’s response left me wondering about the longevity of Will and Sonny.

Sonny: “Geez, I mean with both your parents behind us and my parents, we’re pretty much doomed.”

Often parental approval is the first sign a soap couple is about to face fresh obstacles in their relationship. Unfortunately, not all couples survive. I have to wonder if Will and Sonny are doomed?

EJ (James Scott) arrived at the Brady Pub in a sour mood, where he bumped into Kate. She quickly realized the cause of his ire, Sami.

That is the rampant speculation among some fans, myself included, but it has yet to be confirmed by any spoilers or other press.

My question is: Why do so many of the female characters become so attached to Daniel? I understand he may be a writer's pet, but have they actually had any of the characters really explain their attraction on screen? I just don't see him as much of a catch.

The Peacock is coming with a hatchet. Ken needs to take his head out the sand and save this show.

That seems to be the going theory, which would in fact be a big obstacle for that relationship(I love that out of all that happened on that ep, Luke goes straight for "Are Will and Sonny doomed?" as the title of this recap; we get it, you hate the pairing as much as you love Sami Brady). Personally, I would love for Gabi not to be pregnant; I'd say that Sonny finding out Will slept with her and not telling him--despite the fact that they weren't together at the time--will provide more that enough angst, especially after all of Adrienne's concerns regarding Will potentially hurting Sonny.

The writers are practically hitting us over the head with the fact that this pair is doomed and DOA. It feels like they don't really want to write for this pair anyway with their awkward interactions and sudden lack of chemistry. I really don't like Gary Tomlin and Chris Whitesell's handling of Will or Sonny.

They are only writing decent material for Tomlin's creations and basically saying to hell with legacy characters. I will say though I have enjoyed Jennifer yelling at Nicole and Daniel.

I also feel like both WilSon and Days are doomed, which would be a shame.NBC
is not doing anything to either promote this show or WilSon.The only way I knew there was a Sonny sighting yesterday was because of Freddie Smith's tweet of his scheduled Days appearances. There is,and has been,no mention of WilSon in many of the spoilers of several sites.SOD did not even mention their big kiss in it's recaps of that week. The only spoiler I see for Will is that he and Gabi share a secret.Wonder what that could be.

Anyway,it did go up a little in the ratings.Maybe people will come back for Kristen and Stefano. But,I've got my youtube clips of Will and Sonny just in case.

I think Stefano's return will boost the ratings a lot....
and Kristin, prob. getting between John and Marlena won't hurt at all.
This show has become sooooooooooo flat, it needs something to make it interesting again.
Sami belongs with EJ, to make the ratings go up, the sooner the better.
Give give closure to the Safe SL and let's move on.
Let Rafe become a character on his own, find a new woman,
and give us Ejami fans what we have been waiting for, like forever.
Sonny and Will, No Chemistry IMO.
Find some new love interests for both of them, that might work better.
Stefano, so good to have you back, you are the sparkplug on this show, for Me...

I have no great love for Sami, but I find her a thousand times more interesting when she's with EJ. She's annoying with Lucas and completely bland with Rafe, who just sucks the life out of every woman he's been paired with on Days.

SoapArmageddon...LMAO! Laughing out loud are we venting, dear? I love reading your posts because of prose and you're so elegant in your writing. I have never read a post by you so direct and no sugar coating. Wink Keep up the good work...hehe!

harlee490, thank you for that.

In one year, I've gone from completely ignoring the very existence of Y&R to actually enjoying it again, and it's still MAB's stuff that we're seeing.

Days, on the other hand, gives me a really bad feeling.

No one is more surprised than I am by this but I actually enjoyed Days last week. It was far from perfect but it appears the writing is slowly improving. Fingers crossed!

I'm so sorry guys - I really wanted to invest in this storyline, but it's just not doing it for me anymore.

Will's coming out was so great from the time of him seeing Gabi, befriending Sonny, his convos with Marlena and the eventual coming out. But it seems all about the writer change. MarDar wrote Will's storylines BEAUTIFULLY. He was front-and-center with several simultaneous storylines, and truly acting as his mother's son.

And then came TomSell, who took away the BEST element of the story, Will & EJ. AND they had Will make up with Sami, which was another mistake. PLUS the sheer fact that Gabi Hernandez is even on the screen anymore, let alone sleeping with Will, has ruined so much for me, not just in this storyline, but the whole of DAYS - I just want her gone, gone, gone. Ugh.

Sorry, not good.

Ditto ! Boring is an understatement. I find myself forwarding through stories I don't like and today's whole episode was like that except for like 3 minutes of Nicole. Safe is so stomach churning I'm about ready to bail. I'm giving the show a week to see what they have planned for Kristen, if I'm not hooked I'm done. & I'm a 28 year watcher.

The EJ and Will scenes were the WORST moments of Will's story last winter and spring. EJ was abusive and demeaning towards Will. It would have bordered on child abuse were Will not an adult. Then there was all of the ridiculous dialogue and innuendo between them that was never going anywhere; but gullible fans swallowed it hook, line and sinker. On top of all that, there was the complete rewriting of Will's character in order to support the absurd working relationship between the two characters and Will's betrayal of his family along the way. It was a bright day in Salem back in August when Will finally tendered his resignation.

As for now, Will/Sonny, Gabi/Nick and Nicole are carrying this show. Everything else is one big bore, especially Sami/Rafe.

Wow....I think you and I are the only two people on these boards in agreement regarding Will. While I enjoyed small flashes here and there of EJ/Will, overall the whole thing was absurd and frankly a c---tease by the then-writers to dance around the whole thing without actually acknowledging anything. With the exception of the great coming-out scenes, I hated the way they were writing Will and the fact is he doesn't have to be his "mother's son"--i.e. self-absorbed, self-destructive and lacking any significant moral compass--to be interesting. Personally, I'm enjoying him more now than I have in a awhile(could be because he's being written as an actual teen/young adult rather than a adult trying to blackmail his boss into letting him run the company....really?).

ChrisGa & LonePirate-make that 3.I'm enjoying WilSon,although they could be on more. From Freddie Smith's tweets, their screen time does pick up next 2 months.I think we forget that Will is not 20 yet,and newly out.I like that they haven't jumped into bed yet.Wasn't he born in Nov?That might be a great time for that.Anyway,Days is still watchable for me,and hopefully with Kristen's return, more will want to watch.
