Monica’s upset with Tracy for duping AJ, but changes her attitude when AJ walks though the door. Diane was able to get him out on bail. Tracy and AJ argue until Monica interrupts, and announces Edward has taken a turn for the worse.  Tracy wants to call an ambulance, but Monica says it’s too late. Edward has made his wishes known, and doesn't have much time left.  AJ wants to see his grandfather, but Tracy refuses to allow it.

Robert visits Patrick because he has a gift for Emma.  He apologizes about missing Robin’s funeral and Patrick mentions the long lost son.  Robert admits Ethan isn’t his, and updates him on the truth. Patrick understands Robert's reason for not wanting to accept Robin's death.  Robert tells him to spend as much time with Emma as possible, so as to not have any regrets.  Patrick knows both Robin and Emma are proud of Robert. He gives Robert the okay to give Emma her present at school.

Sam tells John the lead on Jerry didn’t pan out, but she still believes Jason is out there.  John wants her to slow down and take things into perspective. John's advice infuriates Sam.  John wants to hold Danny, but Sam thinks he's trying to be a Jason substitute. Sam knows Jason would hate him being there.  John decides to leave, but Sam declares she’s kicking him out. She shouts at him to leave her family alone.

Carly’s annoyed to find Connie in Todd’s office, and almost hits the roof when she finds out they're sharing it because Connie has her old job back. Carly informs Todd that AJ is out on bail, and believes he’ll turn Michael against her.  She asks what Todd would do in her place, and he admits he’d kill anyone who would hurt his kids. He assures Carly he won't do anything to hurt AJ.  Connie interrupts to talk about sex with Johnny, so Carly attacks her. Todd breaks the two women up.  Todd promises Carly that she won’t lose her son.

Alexis is making small talk with Shawn when Sonny arrives, complaining about AJ. Sonny wants a restraining order, but Alexis reminds him Michael is an adult and can make his own decisions. She warns Sonny that he’ll only end up driving Michael away.  Sonny’s angry everyone gets to work the justice system against him.  Alexis is sure AJ will screw up, and thinks Sonny should wait it out.

Michael understands AJ wants a relationship, and Starr wonders how he feels about that.  Michael knows they’ll never be one big happy family.  AJ calls both Michael and Sam to come to the mansion.

Shawn offers Sonny his condolences about Jason.  Sonny says he lost Kate too, but knows she’s fighting to get out.  He mentions Jason usually handling things for him, and wonders if Shawn can help.  Shawn says he’s out of the business, but Sonny brings up his service during the Jerry situation.

Tracy visits Edward and talks to him about running ELQ. She assures her father that everything is fine.  Tracy doesn’t want anything to upset him today.  Monica arrives in time to hear Tracy tell Edward that he’s invincible, and not to leave them.  Tracy and Monica hug.

Alexis runs into John, and admits she’s worried about Sam.  John tells her he's been added to the list of people on Sam's angry list.  John asks about progress in the case, but Alexis says everything is tied up in the courts. She asks about John’s work status.  He says things are difficult in Llanview, and Alexis tells him to find another job to prove he can provide for his son. She hopes he’ll stay in PC, because Sam needs him.

Monica is surprised to hear AJ called Michael and Sam to come over.  Michael sits with Edward and tells him that while they weren’t close, he admired him. Michael understands Edward did everything out of love. Michael loves him and will never forget him. He leans in and gives his great grandfather a kiss.

Sam introduces Daniel to Edward and confesses that Jason is his father, much to Monica’s delight.  She vows to make Edward proud.  Edward raises his hand, and Daniel grabs his finger.

Tracy overhears AJ tell Starr that he wished he were able to make amends with Edward.  Tracy caves in and instructs AJ to go in and see Edward. By the time AJ gets to the room, Monica tells him Edward has passed away.

Monica breaks the news to Tracy and the others about Edward. Tracy can’t believe it, but Monica says Edward’s last word was “Lila”.

I'm crying already, and we haven't even gotten to Edward's memorial. Man, this will be brutal.

So, after the McBam stuff today, I'm really thinking that we're heading towards a Sam/AJ who will connect over Edward's passing. Which leaves poor John out in the cold.

This episode, HELL ALL THIS WEEK, should've been about Edward & the Q's.

u mean to tell me that Ron & Frank couldn't or wouldn't spare us a week of Sonny plotting to kidnap an unstable woman or Carly bad-mouthing AJ for a few episodes to honor Edward?!?!

Liz & Jake should be there too. It's disgusting that they killed him off.

I wonder if McBain and Alexis are headed toward something. I wouldn't mind that at all (having always had a crush on NLG).

With all the sadness around Edward's passing, I really enjoyed Carly and Connie going at it today! I laughed aloud when Carly took that patch of leopard print and tried to thongle Connie to death! Laughing out loud

This episode so filled with the sweetness of Edwards passing and Patrick and Robert connecting made the Sonny and Carly stuff seem cheap and annoying. Why are Sonny and Carly so worried about Michael forming his own opinion. Geez- Listening to both of them made me want to hit mute!!

However I adored the sweet conversation between Robert and Patrick.. It was so wonderful to hear Robert talk about Robin having Edward wrapped around her finger.

JE and LC were so great. Seeing Tracy talking to her Daddy for the last time.. Michael saying he understood him and admired him. Edward grabbing Danny's finger!! So great!! I just wish AJ had made it up to see him.. Such a great episode!!

Jane Elliot should be ashamed of herself making me cry like that.... Damn you Tracy!!! This episode was amazing, and it was very well balanced. The stories continued while we saw more of what was most important, Edward's passing. Once again, this episode was amazing, and I can't wait to see what Ron and Frank have in store for us for the rest of the week.

Loved all the Q material and the hug between Robert & Patrick. The look of bewilderment on Robert's face was great.

As for a Sam/AJ pairing I'm all for it because it will drive Carly and Sonny bonkers. What would be even more interesting is a slow build of Sam/John/Liz/AJ. Put Sam & John together first and Liz & AJ and then mix them up. I also would love John with Alexis or Anna. I just hope they don't bring Natalie onto GH permanently.

The scene of Edward reaching out to baby Danny and Danny grasping the finger was beautifully done and touched me deeply. Tracy and Monica's reactions were very well done. The Patrick/Robert scenes and that hug was sweet. Aside from these things the episode as a whole was not very good and actively annoying in parts.

Carly/Todd/Konnie = just a waste.

I was annoyed by Shawn's standing between Sonny and Alexis during their conversation. He added nothing until after Alexis left (with her highly platonic "see ya later.") Sonny and Shawn's conversation was stupid and unnecessary. I wish the writers would write a story for the character of Shawn versus just shoe-horning him in awkwardly. Or Shawn could leave town altogether. I'd miss his pretty but that's it. Maurice Benard often looks like he is chuckling whenever his character recites Konnie's story. I wish I had as much fun with the story!

Sam's reaction to John, specifically his calling Danny, "Daniel" was really odd. Why is it Sam alienates her family and friend but bonded with AJ yesterday? Makes no sense and just odd. Can Sam be put way out on the back-burner until the writers figure out what direction they would like her to take now that Jason is gone?

I would like to see more interaction between Alexis and McBain. Sam becoming jealous over their growing bond would be good story.

Bracing myself for more fallout from Edward's passing. No doubt Jane Elliott will continue to nail Tracy's grief. Rest in peace John Ingle.

I loved all the Q scenes and Daniel Edward is a little scene stealer. I cried when he grabbed Edward's finger...

As for Sexis, I'm rooting for them AFTER Alexis taps Shawn and only after. But Megatron KateCon has to go and now b/c she's only making me miss Megan Ward.

If anything else happened in this episode, it was a blur.

The scenes at the Quartermaine mansion were all very touching and emotional. Jane Elliot did an amazing job & yeah she made me cry too. I loved the scene where Edward grabbed Danny's hand and the one where Monica reached out to Tracy in Edward's room. For me the Qs once again proved that they are the best soap opera family and that they should be front and center like they were for the past couple of weeks now.

I have to say next to Edward dying, the scenes with Carly/Todd/Kate and all this Sonny nonsense got extremely on my nerves.
And I can't listen to Carly anymore, running to a man & talk nasty about AJ and the Quartermaines when she knows that in the end she mainly has to thank herself if Michael can't stand the side of her anymore.
Sonny and Carly act too self-righteous for me ... and a mobster like Sonny - who tricked the justice system multiple times - asking for justice where Kate and AJ are concerned is a big joke to me.

Jane Elliot is just wonderful. I have said it before, I'm saying it now, and I know I will say it again. In watching this I kept remembering "I JUST WANT MY MOMMY" when Lila died.

Kudos to the cast and crew of GH for giving us such a poignant, memorable episode. And thanks to FV & RC for listening to us, and for making such a sincere effort to giving us back our beloved vets. General Hospital--the one we all remember and love--is back, and I savor every second of every episode.

Jane Elliot, *sigh*, knocks it out of the park every day. I really think this is her year, and IMHO, she's had some Emmy-worthy scenes.

Leslie Charleson couldn't look more beautiful. I'm so grateful that she's back--and in full-force.

I'm gonna miss Edward with all my heart. "Lila." Sad(

Everything surrounding Edward's death was excellent! It's funny how Sonny is doing the exact same thing that AJ did years ago by kidnapping someone & trying to get them to understand how much they love them. Such a damn hypocrite.

Jane Elliot rocked the house. I love seeing the Quatermaines front and center. Tomorrow is going to be hard but I cant wait.

AJ didnt see Edward before he died. Will AJ hold this against Tracy?

I agree with everyone, Jane Elliot did an awesome job and had me in tears. Despite all the fighting and the dsyfunctional family gatherings, Tracy truely loved her father. The scene where baby Daniel grabbed on to Edwards finger was so touching. It was almost like a symbol, the old handing the reigns to the new generation of Q's. Chad Duell has been impressing me the past few weeks. He's been showing some real emmotion for a change. Bringing AJ back was the best idea because it has given Micheal a meaty storyline again. I'm really going to miss Edward and I'm sure today's show will have me in tears.

Please Michael keep your shirt on.

The whole time during Edward's last scenes I just kept thinking about the actor sitting there while everyone is crying and talking over him.

Danny grabbing Edward's hand was so nice and sweet.

There was no need for Sonny today. Like THEBEST mentioned, Sonny kidnapping ConKat to make her realize how much he loves her is actually what AJ did with Michael. AJ wanted Michael to know how much he loved him.

Carly whining to a rapist about how awful AJ is???

I'm all for a Sam/John/Liz/AJ Quadangle

NO! No Liz/Sam triangle, quadrangle, or any angle. Just no. I have had enough and I can't take it any longer. Liz is a great character who deserves a romance of her own. I have put up with Liz being in triangles for far too long. Let someone else have a turn. And I don't want Liz with McBain. I don't find him attractive at all, and he is far too dark (mood wise) for Liz. Ric and Jason were dark, but they had a light sides as well. McBain reminds me of Eeyore...depressing all the time.

The Edward scenes were so sad. JE was amazing. Seeing Sam there with Danny pissed me off because little Jake should have been there. He was killed off so Danny could exist and it still makes me sick. It will always make me sick. They could have had both kids if the writers actually got a little creative. (and this is not my opinion because Guza and SB admitted in interviews that they had to kill Jake to explain Jason being okay with the procedure Sam had in order to get pregnant with Jason's kid).

JE's performance at Edwards' bedside was a master class in all encompassing grief, anger, and posessiveness giving way to a resigned letting go.(The last as it relates to SK's AJ getting to see his grandfather.) And yes, it brought back the bittersweet scenes she gave us when Lila passed. CD and KeMo caught her coattails, adding their own reserved performances that enhanced their scenes with him and I admit when Danny grasped Edwards finger, if I wasn't gone before, that picture and "Lila" put me in an already overflowing vat of tears. Kudos also to LC who has finally been brought back to the front of the house when it comes to life in the Q mansion. This is how it should have been all along.

While I can appreciate that RC wanted to "lighten up" the sorrow in this episode, the only thing that really caused me a snicker was watching Carly squirm on the "meathook" that is AJ's looming presence/relationship in Jr.s life. I've come to appreciate KSul's "over the top" take on Kate/Con but I think she needs to be reined in at this point, especially if this (currently in a holding pattern) DID story is to be resolved with any sympathy left for her character. Puzzled

The bully complaining about the system working against him while AJ, Connie and AJ work it to their benefit? Please. Stare

My tissue box is full and I'm getting my life jacket and "floaties" out of storage for this afternoon, ready to become a puddle on the floor. Sad( I wouldn't have it any other way... Innocent

The scenes at the Q mansion were fantastic. It's actually wonderful to see that house again. JE and the other actors did a great job even with a body double playing the part of Edward. My only beef is that so many of the Q's were missing. Alan, Ned, Dillon, Brooklyn, the Wards, and so many others should've been there. It's so sad how the previous regime dismantled that family. On the bright side I understand Ned and Skye will show up today.

The Patrick/Robert scenes were also very well done.

I also agree that Sonny and Carly were not needed in this episode. Both of those characters can go crawl under a rock not to be seen again. So sick of them. At least Michael is finally learning the other side of the story.

Jake is dead, yeah, that's too bad....so, about EDWARD...I cried during most of the epi but his last word being "Lila" did me in.

I liked the Robert/Patrick scenes as well, I sure hope we get some Emma/Grandpa Robert scenes today.

The rest was unneeded today.

Everything was good in the episode except the glaring omission of Alan. I know it's beating a dead horse but it just was SO WRONG for Alan not to be there for the death of his father. It would have added a huge other layer of depth to the scenes. Michael being there was "ok" but not really that important since he never had much of a relationship with Edward and the Q clan. On the other hand...very glad Jason wasn't there to just stare stone-faced and flat at the body double. Can I mention how GLAD I am Jason is gone from the screen! So nice and refreshing!

THIS IS IT: THIS IS THE EPISODE THAT IS GOING TO WIN GH THE BEST DRAMA DAYTIME EMMY. THIS IS IT!

Jane Elliot start preparing your acceptance speech.

Was it just me, or was Danny the spitting image of Edward Quartermaine? That kid has got to win an award for best casting EVER!

An excellent episode, as everyone seems to agree! Just as an aside, when did Patrick have a chance to completely remodel his house? I remember Robin had the perky-colored (no pun intended Perkie!) lamps and pillows and other colorful touches to her house. Yesterday's eppy had Patrick living in a boring monotone house that looked drab and unremarkable! Also had a thought from Monday's eppy: When Anna said to Duke that something had changed about him, I SO wanted her to say, "Something is different about you, you taste like latex!!"

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and Happy Birthday to anyone that shares my birthday today!

tvlover01 - First of all...do you realize that when you use all capital letters it is hard to read what you wrote and all caps is usually only used when you are yelling at someone on line?

Secondly...I don't hate Danny. I hate Sam. I always have, and I probably always will. I have no problem with Danny the character. I have a problem with the fact that Jake was killed so Danny could exist. I have a problem with the fact that the head writer at the time (Guza) felt it was necessary to kill Jake in order to make a Danny. So, yes. I was not touched by that scene at all because I don't like Sam and because I felt that Jake should have been there as well. I guess if all you ever do is see me hate Danny, then you are not paying attention to all the posts I write about other characters and about other shows....and you are completely misinterpreting my feelings about Danny.

^^ I couldn't agree more with you js3557. Your original post (#17) never stated that you hate Danny, only you were not happy seeing Sam & Danny at Edward's deathbed. I felt moved by the moment between Edward & Danny and think Danny is too cute but it doesn't change the fact that Jake was killed off to create a situation where a.) a JaSam baby could exist under the reasoning that the mob life wasn't more dangerous than another life path and 2.) that Jason would not have to have another biological child on the canvas who represented Jason having been in love with Liz. For three years, Liz and Jason did not share one scene. That's agenda if there ever was one. I knew as soon as Jake was killed off that Sam would immediately become pregnant, forever linking her baby's life to Jake's death. The two occurrences are dependent upon each other in the storytelling. Too bad because the actor playing baby Danny is adorable!

On another separate but related note: Can someone explain to me why Sam rudely corrected McBain when he called the baby Daniel instead of Danny? Was it because the baby's namesake, her deceased brother, went by Danny? Sam introduced the baby to Edward as Daniel Edward. It's not as if McBain called the baby by something other than the informal version of the same name! LOL.

Jane Elliot was amzing in this episode. Like someone else mentioned, I had flashbasks of the I want my Mommy scene from years ago.

I could've done without Sonny planning to kidnap Kate/Connie using the very same man who was going to kidnap Brenda on her wedding day to Sonny. That was a big ole stinker. Why throw that trash in an episode with such wonderful emotions as the Quartermaine scenes?

I hope they manage to write Edward's funeral without Carly and Sonny in attendance.

GH hasn't made me sob like that since the Claire Labine days.
