General Hospital: Perkie's Observations

Sabrina’s upset things didn’t pan out with Lucy and The Nurses' Ball.  She and Felix try to tell Patrick the truth, but Britt butts in and mentions Lucy’s financial troubles. She begins to question Sabrina’s success, so Felix lies and claims Lucy will be helping them.

Monica thanks Liz for helping AJ.  Liz says she’s in no position to judge, and thinks everyone needs to do better.  Monica also apologizes for her behavior when she found out Jake’s true paternity.   Monica knows there will be struggles with AJ, but believes Liz will be a good influence on him. Monica's comments surprise Liz.

AJ still wants to attempt to get Carly denounce her authority over Michael’s ELQ trust, in order to best Tracy.  Michael thinks Tracy has done a good job with the company, and wants AJ and Tracy to work together.  AJ claims he doesn’t want to keep Tracy out, and only wishes to be a part of the company. He needs to win over Sam, and insists on visiting her.

Tracy stops by Sam’s to give both her and Danny a Christmas present.  Sam immediately sees through Tracy's facade, and calls her on trying to get the ELQ shares. Tracy feels AJ hasn’t changed, and will run ELQ into the ground if he gains control. She thinks Sam should be interested, since it’s Michael and Danny’s birthright.  Tracy plays the Michael card, and mentions how far Jason went to keep him safe. Tracy wants Sam to sign a proxy over to her.

Todd admits he was faking the chest pains, and Starr isn't pleased.  Starr realizes Todd lied because he didn’t want her to hear Johnny's confession, and demands to know why. Todd says Johnny is a low life, and he doesn’t want him around Starr.  Starr knows her father is hiding something, and angrily storms off to talk to Johnny.

Connie wonders if she should finish off Johnny, because he could wake up and ruin everything. Carly leaves a voice message for Todd asking for advice about going to see Johnny, but decides to stop by the penthouse anyway.

Connie shoves Johnny’s body under a table, and opens the door to Carly.  Carly admits Johnny asked her to come over to reveal the truth about his marriage to Connie.  Connie claims Johnny had no choice but to marry her because of all the hot sex.  Carly figures the marriage hasn’t been consummated, because Johnny cringes when Connie is around.

Carly orders Connie to tell her where Johnny is, but Connie alleges he left with an overnight bag.  Johnny makes a grunt, and Carly hears it. However, Connie quickly deflects Carly's questioning, and Carly leaves without seeing Johnny.

Lucy visits the Q mansion, and is stunned when Alice doesn't know of her. Alice kicks her out, but Lucy finds the hidden key and lets herself in.  She eavesdrops on AJ and Michael’s conversation, and Alice catches her. Alice demands Lucy leave, just as Monica arrives.  Lucy says she came to pay her respects to Edward, but asks about the will.  Monica informs Lucy there was nothing left to her.  Lucy reminds Monica that she has 1 % of the company, but Monica throws her out nonetheless.  Alice asks about Lucy, and Monica warns she is nothing but trouble.

Sabrina doesn't like Felix lying about the status of The Nurses' Ball. Liz expresses her sympathy about things not working out with Lucy. Sabrina decides she needs to tell Patrick the truth, and Liz agrees.

Michael and AJ arrive at Sam’s, and AJ begs her not to sign Tracy’s papers.  Tracy accuses AJ of causing problems between Michael and his parents, and calls AJ a sperm donor only.  AJ retaliates by saying Tracy hasn’t heard from Dillon lately.  Sam gets tired of the fighting, and signs over 9% to each of them.  AJ knows Sam's bold move leaves the ELQ share race deadlocked at 50%.

Todd calls Connie to warn her about Starr's incoming visit to Johnny.  Connie affirms Johnny won’t be a problem anymore.

Sabrina is about to confess the truth to Patrick, when Lucy arrives.  She’s thrilled to see Liz and meet Patrick. She offers her condolences to Patrick about Robin.  Lucy declares they have a party to throw.

**No new episode Monday and Tuesday. The next new episode will be Wednesday. I will be away visiting family, so there will not be a new column until late Friday or early Saturday**

**Merry Christmas everyone!!**

How many % of shares are in this company? How can Lucy have 1%? The math doesn't add up and hurts my head!

Loved Lucy showing up at the end and the joy from both Sabrina and Liz. Loved the look of disapointment on Britt's face and the "uh huh" look on Felix's. He's starting to grow on me.

Was Monica seriously hinting at a match up between AJ and Liz?

Todd wrapping duct tape around his ribs because they hurt was one of the funnier things I've seen in a while. Also loved Connie's "hadn't thought of that" when Carly asked if maybe Johnny's running from her.

Loved seeing Lucy reeking havoc in the Quartermaine mansion! Still pinching myself when I see Lynn Herring on screen. I am confused about her 1%. Was this mentioned before?

No new episode on Monday? That means we won't be getting the Christmas episode until Wednesday since the show was preempted last Friday.

I really wish Leslie Charleson would leave her damn face alone. She just got herself a pair of those duck lips that are all the rage on the Real Housewives shows. Such a shame.

Merry Christmas Perkie! Thanks for all the time you put into your GH posts!

Why can't ABC just nix the classic episode on Monday and show Fridays episode so that we will be caught up.

Lucy's 1% takes the shares to 101. Im confused now too!!

I was thinking the same thing about using Friday's episode on Monday. Doesn't make sense that they wouldn't. I noticed LC's face, also. It looks bad! So unnatural. Do these older people think that will make us forget how old we all know they are? Connie is so cartoonish, but I did bust out laughing when she started speaking Spanish to Carly...lol

It's all business. They sold advertising based on the fact that Monday's episode would be a repeat. If they aired a new one there at the last minute, those advertisers would be getting one hell of a deal!

In order to make Lucy's 1% work, all the others would have to have "decimal points" in their shares, like instead of Sam having 18%, she'd actually have 8.9% from Jason and 8.9% for Daniel and the others would have 8.9 or whatever. The rounding-up would mean in practice they really have 9%, but the .1's would add up to Lucy getting (eventually) 1% of total voting shares. If Lucy got 1% in a divorce settlement or whatever, Edward would have known this, since she would have been receiving stock dividends or whatever, so I'm guessing this is a "convenient" way to break the tie with AJ and Tracy that they did not know they'd have to add in when Edward's will was read.

Obviously Lucy can use this to get a huge payoff (to help with her Monavie..oops, I mean CoeCoe pyramid scheme), or maybe just use it to force Tracy to underwrite the ball. Heck, why not do both?

I wonder if Leslie seen that she will be shown more and wanted to get some nips and tucks done. I was just getting use to her old new face. She should not have touched it especially since GH film in HD. But it also does make sense that Monica would have face surgery. She is a rich housewife, that's what they do!!

Lucy's 1% doesn't make sense at all. Diane had said that Edward got back all those shares from those other people that's how they were able to divide it up between the family. But Ron C needed to have Lucy have some leverage so they did this 1% thing. But if Lucy's company was in trouble, how come she never tried to sell it before to get the money?!

I am not liking Sabrina more and more. She goes on and on about how she wants to do the NB in Robin's honor but it doesn't look that way. It's like she's doing all this to get closer to Patrick.

I loved Monica being a pimp trying to hook up AJ and Liz. The look on Liz face though was great. The scene where Sam just gave Tracy and AJ each the shares of ELQ made so much sense. Sam doesn't seem like the type to care about that stuff.

I think the powers that be at GH should truly look at the canvas and start weeding away wasted rooms of characters like the 3 nurses we have right now. I am all for having new blood but when you include 3 new characters into a LEGENDARY event like THE NURSE'S BALL and only let Liz play den mother to this annoying characters than all i can say is dump them.

Plus, their motivations for anything are not fully fleshed out for ALL THREE and so there is no rooting factor there for me or other fans.

In the Spinelli-Maxie-Sabrina triangle, the fans will choose Maxie because Sabrina was just thrust into the story before we even knew her and we still don't know her.

Over at the Q mansion, AJ has just returned from the dead and, although his charges won't be dropped but he'll be given a green light since he offers up Faison info (when does a criminal get off SCOTT FREE for just saying I saw the man MONTHS/maybe years ago ALIVE in Switzerland?!!). Having AJ make a play for Q Enterprises is a farce. It should be a year down the road after he has reestabllished himself on the show and with his son. That's the drama.

The Maxie is pregnant in an instant to give an instant child to Lulu and Dante is far too rushed. There was so much more to the story of wanting a family that could have been played out first before making Maxie, a heart transplant recipient, carry their kid. Lulu and dante could try fertility and the show could show some really good drama and conflict with it being unsuccessful. Then they could dive into the adoption aspect and then into Maxie. That whole LULU WANTS A KID could be a good 2 year (multi arc story).

The Connie story has run its course. Honestly, how can this loon be getting away with so much and NEVER get caught? No cameras. No witnesses. Nothing. It's just as bad as Heather carrying a dead man across the Q estate WHILE THE POLICE are in the house searching for him.

I also think it's time that they speed up the revelation that Cole and Hope are alive and well and living somewhere else. Cole could have amnesia and Hope just was too young to fully explain who they were. Starr could go into the neighboring town and run into them just as she is professing her love for Michael. A young love back from the dead story would be fantastic!!

Time to let the youngest Davis girl to be a teen. This whole writing your own book and getting it stolen, printed and all that jazz is ridiculous. Molly is already one of the sweetest BUT DULLEST kids I have ever seen!

If you replace the "three" nurses/doctors with members from the Hardy/Webber family, with Liz, Grams and even Epiphany running the nurses ball then honoring Robin would not be about Sabrina trying to win Patrick.

Connie has got to go. I don't ever want to hear D.I.D on another soap!

Starr and Michael are blah.

Yes, it looks like Monica is pushing Liz and AJ.

Monica is pimping out AJ to Elizabeth because she wants another grandchild, and she knows that Liz gets pregnant every time there's a full moon or the wind blows...... Laughing out loud

But it's obvious that Ron is toying with an AJ/Sam pairing. Predictable.

I am waiting for the Tracy/Lucy scenes. I heard a rumor that Lucy is gonna be spending X-Mas with the Quartermaines. The sheer magnificence of Lucy, Tracy and Monica being together in the same scene is almost too much for me to bear.

I've been saying it for a long time: GET RID OF CONNIE/KATE. Kelly Sullivan is a fine actress who I find to be brilliant in some scenes and annoying in the other 99 percent. That is not a good enough ratio for me to justify letting her continue to eat up this show. Besides, I'd rather see Heather or Helena 12 days a week than this Messica Buchanan copycat.

Starr also needs to go away. Every episode I see her in reminds me of how painfully out of place she is on this show. She has NO chemistry with Michael or Chad Duell. I get more of a big brother/little sister vibe from them than anything else. And she has no chemistry with anyone else on this show, other than Roger Howarth. Send her back to Llanview, PLEASE!!

I don't mind Sabrina. I enjoy her quirkiness, even though Ron is clearly trying his hardest to turn this storyline into an "Ugly Betty" spinoff. To no avail.

Just NO to a paring of Liz and AJ. I like that AJ has returned to the canvas because it opens up story for several characters but Sean Kanan doesn't have the ability or charisma to sell the character for me. Liz should be paired with Ric Lansing (if he returns.) That whole scene of Monica pimping AJ to Liz was a WTF? for me. First, it cheapened the very necessary and long overdue apology Monica needed to give Liz and second, the comparison of Liz needing redemption along the lines of AJ is laughable. Liz held a big secret for what, a day or two before admitting it to Jason. Nearly everyone in PC has done far worse. AJ is being propped in the writing and I don't think it services the character. I also don't think Sean Kanan brings nuance to the character. Trevor St. John would be a perfect fit if he hadn't played Victor on OLTL. A Michael Muhney-type would be a great fit (Michael Muhney plays Adam on Y&R.)

Yes-- To everything Lucy Coe. She's a blast. Lucy Coe is a breathe of fresh air to the canvas. Loved the Lucy/Monica scenes.

No-- To Leslie Charleson's distractingly inflamed face. Her plastic surgery seemed toned-down last month when she was featured nearly every day of November. Perhaps, she just went in for a touch-up. Just NO.

Yes-- To anything Todd Manning. He's the man.

No-- Mousy Nurse v. Bitchy Doctor. They are such shallow, one-note characters and so self-serving with no rooting factors. Sabrina is no better than Britt but the writers are telling the audience she is.

Yes & No-- I think Felix is so cute but why must he have a "one-bitch"-minimum per scene? We get it writers, he supposed to be slightly catty gay man. I did chuckle when he referred to Britt as "The Britch." LMAO.

No-- To Konnie in general. I tend to zone-out during her scenes but why did she invite Carly into the apartment? That made no sense. Then again, NOTHING about Konnie's storyline makes sense.

Yes-- To Sam's splitting her shares between Tracy and AJ. That made a lot of sense to me.

And, finally a big NO to Carly's hideous sweater.

Love Connie/Kate although I hope she doesn't kill Johnny. Hope these two (along with Todd) stay front and center in 2013 - definitely the most entertaining characters. Close behind are Sabrina and Felix - really loving them right now!

Not really a fan of AJ being involved romantically with Liz or Sam; he and Jason have already shared too many women.
I say put him with the Britt or Sabrina...either one works for me just because neither has any history on the show with AJ.

This 1% share Lucy has is going to make Luke Kerr's head explode on the next podcast.

And I think it is time for Connie/Kate to be murdered. We have an entire canvass of characters that could be part of the murder mystery as suspects from Johnny to Molly. And I would have Johnny be the killer as a way to write that character off (even though I like Brandon Borash) because he is too far gone to be viable anymore.

I don't mind Elizabeth and AJ, although I'd rather see her with Patrick (but only if Robin doesn't come back, because Liz would lose and I'm tired of her losing). I definitely object to Sam and AJ. Why waste her there (and have another stupid Sam/Liz war over a man) when she oozes chemistry with McBain?

Thanks for the recap...haven't watched this show much but caught a couple of eppys...

I just don't get Rons' obsession with this Sabrina character and I'm sick of a veteran like Elizabeth and now Patrick having to prop her ass, get rid of her she's not needed. Give them a story that doesn't surround this newbie from nowhere she's dull and I'm still not interested in her.

As for Liz and AJ I'm good with it but I too don't like the idea of AJ getting St. JaSus exes, it would be nice for him to get his own woman not related to Stumpy or connected to the Holy one...no one in the history of soaps have been propped or pimped more than Jason Morgan's character and if AJ is getting some of it I say right on its about damn time.

For Liz it will open up more story for her, afterall, this is a soap opera and that's what soaps do as for Ric I'd gag if she went with this man after being married to him twice in which he tried to kill her, hell to the no...she'd look like an idiot going to a third round. Maybe a redux of Alexis and Ric would work.

As for Jason getting "any" percent of ELQ it makes me wanna puke after the way he treated the Qs like dirt...its a slap in the face to Quartermaine fans only without his sainted ass. He doesn't need it and "never wanted anything to do with them but he must be pimped and propped to the bitter end"

As for Johnny getting stuck with the chainsaw that is Konnie Falconari Howard or whoever she is its campy and ridiculous and just end it please...enough is enough.

I don't see AJ having chemistry with anyone yet, but I say put her with Liz just to give her something to do. For all the praise she gets from some people, I've been watching for almost a year now, and I have seen no evidence that she can ACT! Why did they bother to save her from the casting ax and then give her nothing to do. I say, "UGH!", every time I see her on my screen, because I know her scenes are just going to drag the show down! Show me what she can do, already!!!

I'm in the minority, but I think Connie is hoot and a half! She's the anti-Liz, because whenever I see her, I think we're in for some fun! It looks as though she's heading for a showdown with Johnny and Starr. I hope they all come out of it okay, because I would miss each of them.

I guess they'll explain the math to us about how Tracy and AJ can each have 50%, but Lucy has 1%. Maybe ELQ is like a football team, where everyone gives 110%. (That means there's 9% out there somewhere!) Wink

Liz does need a storyline but you have to admit she is one of the most beautiful women on soaps--classic, distinctive beauty rather than the generic dirty blonde (carly, connie, blair), or the brooding 60s hair brunette (sam, at times brenda)

interesting that starr and michael, coming from the most conniving, deceitful, game playing parent and step parent configurations, probably have the most honest relationship on this show right now--kudos for playing on their respective histories and getting how much they have in common with the struggle to love deeply flawed parents.

sabrina seemed to have potential but has been too one note, too long--agree with folks who think that ellie is the only newbie that has real lasting appeal

and they need to think of how to keep johnny on--he does anguish really well and if they could go ahead and have hope and cole resurface (can't think of why anyone would be manipulating them unless it turns out that anthony did save them and was going to use them to torture johnny--how could that secret come out--who else could anthony have been connected to (hey how about jerry jax since he seems to have become a member of every supervillian super club in the business)

I like the Kate/Connie stuff and I think the actress does a fantastic job with the part.

LOVED LOVED LOVED my Lucy Coe! She's up to her scheming ways again. I think she blackmails the Quatermaine's to fund the Nurse's Ball with her 1%, which will give Tracy or AJ 51%...oh that scenes with Lucy and Tracy are going to be amazing.

I'm very upset that my theory about Britt being Christina Scanlon or Serena Baldwin were wrong...Lucy would have recognized her Sad Unless she got a face change...something that Cartini would do.

I loved this episode.

But first off ... people need to lay off Leslie Charleson. Give her a break! She is nearly 70 years old and I think she is beautiful! I actually thought she looked great in this episode. Whether or not she has more work done or not, we don't know what all goes into that decision making process. I appreciate her character, her history, and her presence on this show. She is one actress I will never tear down. More Monica!!!

I absolutely loved the Monica-Lucy scenes. So much history there and nice that it wasn't completely ignored -- as it would have been had Lucy reappeared 2 years ago. Hard to believe it's been about 20 years since Lucy moved into the Q mansion and Monica moved out! How time passes. The writers really gave Monica some great lines in this episode ... about how Lucy belongs in a house, but not one for ladies! Telling Lucy to kiss her 99% assets! I hope we continue to see lots of interaction between these two.

Great interaction between Alice and Lucy too. I was caught off guard when Alice didn't know her. Thought Lucy might ask where Reginald was!

I had to laugh at the end when Todd still had duct tape wrapped around his ribs! And it was cute that both Carly and Starr stormed out of their respective scenes saying the same line.

AJ and Liz? I'm not sure about that pairing. If it meant a decent story for Liz I guess I would prefer it to AJ and Sam.

Kind of teared up at the end when Lucy stormed into the hosptital and saved the day!

I agree with you all about Leslie Charleston. Please lay off the plastic surgery! Her face is pulled so tight it is sometimes hard for her to smile and show emotion. Her eyes sometimes pop out so eerily. I'm sure that's why Bobbie Spencer is gone. She really, out of everyone, destroyed her looks, especially the lips. Don't they see what they look like??? I describe it as a mannequibn type look. Cher has it, and I just saw Olivia Newton John and it was SO obvious she had her cheekbones done and her face pulled. It is SO unattractive! I know some others, like Tony Geary I could tell had his eyes done and I'm sure Susan Lucci had some work done, but they didn't go overboard. Look how great Lynn Herring looks! I'd like to know her secrets for staying so thin. She's lucky, she's tall so weight doesn't show much.
It's obvious with the Sabrina story that may-be with Lucy's help, she transform her into a beauty, like Cinderella, and Patrick will fall for her, with Britt standing by like the evil step-sister.

I cannot believe (actually, I can) how people are talking about Leslie Charleson's looks here. Yes, everyone can see she's had things done - so what? That is not the point. The point is we have Monica back ON SCREEN. She can look like the bride of Frankenstein for all I care, as long as she is there!

This episode was easily the best all week.

I Love Lucy. Could she be more delicious? It is astonishing how, after 8,5 years LH is just able to step back into being Lucy. As if she never left! Loved all her interactions at the hospital, with Alice, and especially Monica:

"No door can keep out Lucy Coe, especially not THIS one"
"Can't believe the Quartermaines keep the key in such an obvious and stupid place - finders keepers!" LOL!
"I don't want your crap - or your makeup!"

Loved the Monica/ Liz scenes too. I really hope for an AJ/Liz pairing! And Liz really looked strikingly beautiful today, as always.

Loved Felix too - he named Britt The BRITCH! Great! (btw, again: Felix seemed less effeminate than before, can't believe that bruhaha either)

AND loved all the commotion at Sam's, I am liking Sam more and more! And it only furthered my opinion to see her split the proxy, which she can of course revoke later on.

I'm glad AJ told Michael the truth, but I did find it a little contrived for Michael to just forgive him on the spot. It was just a tad too fast, he could have simmered it for a day or two and then forgive AJ. But that's just fine tuning.

The Todd/Starr/Connie/Johnny thing was marginal in this episode, but I am glad Carly is not giving up on Johnny. For some reason her not giving up on Johnny makes me like her more. It sort of brings out a vulnerability which I don't usually see. Also, I'm glad Starr calls her father out on his crap! KA really works her best in scenes with RH.

I think you mean the "Spinelli - Maxie - ELLIE" triangle. Based on the majority of the comments I've seen on this board and some other, most people like Ellie and like her better with Spinelli than Maxie. I have never been a "Spixie" fan and never really liked Spinelli, but his character has recently been growing on me and I really like Ellie.

Several weeks ago it was established that the issue with Dante and Lulu having a baby is not a fertility issue. Lulu can get pregnant but she cannot carry a baby to term. There's something misshapen I guess in her reproductive system that stops her from being able to carry a baby.

Umm no character on a soap "has anything to do" its the writers job to give them something to do that's what they get paid for.

I can name characters... especially on GH who is notorious for it... who had no business being in storylines, scenes, etc ... yet there they were either hijacking the storyline or babysitting it.
