Keep the scoop coming…or I guess I will pay for it once I get paid next Friday! Log in to Reply Soap_Stud December 24, 2012 Okay soap fans….30 minutes/4 days a week…pick your cast! Log in to Reply giogio December 24, 2012 Welcome home Adam and Stuart Chandler. David Canary lives in Connecticut. Oh I hope this is all true. Log in to Reply SwanQueen59 December 24, 2012 Once burned, twice shy. And we soap fans were burned by varying degrees. Before I believe any of these leaks/reports I would want to hear from the PP PTB themselves. And even then, with what happened before, I’m not so sure I would jump in without reservations as to motives and specifics as to contracts, and financing. It would be in their best interest to release as much detail on these agreements/plans and at the same time guarantees that this isn’t going to fall apart the way it did previously. In that respect, we, the viewers, have to protect ourselves from another, (maybe more), heart wrenching disappointment… 0:) Log in to Reply appleridge December 24, 2012 If they make a go of this, Im sure actors will return. Some of the younger cast may not but they can always recast Log in to Reply appleridge December 24, 2012 Branco’s site say both AMC & OLTL will air 4 episodes every week and then a recap show on Friday for 42 weeks a year. So that should save them money. I doubt the recap shows will cost a lot. So that means both shows will produce 168 episodes a year Log in to Reply DonnyA2001 December 24, 2012 I like hearing all the scoops….it seems to make a bit more real, but I’m still doubtful. I don’t mind whatever format or how many days a week, I just want my soaps back! I will take what I can get! Log in to Reply siomonstuart2003 December 24, 2012 I don’t want to get my hopes up if this is true, with good writers and great actors, new and vets coming back, it could be a hit. Log in to Reply pjc722 December 24, 2012 Let’s hope that when the shows come back they don’t look like the typical soaps we see visually on TV or on the web otherwise it’s not worth the time. With production moving to Conneticut it should lower the costs dramatically and maybe will lend itself to more exterior shots that look as though they fit in with the interior ones. On top of that, they need to start writing realistic stories and not far fetched ones like Erica’s reborn abortion or continuously bringing cast back from the dead. I lived in England and Ireland for 2 years and one of the reasons that most soaps don’t do well overseas that are imported from the states is our constant reliance on ‘back from the dead’ scenarios. It would prove itself correct when you see that both Y&R and B&B are the only soaps that are syndicated over seas and get a huge following. And let’s make the writing better, the sets more luxurious, the wardrobe more realistic (for years Erica and Kendall were going around town in overcoats that were meant for cool spring nights IN THE DEAD OF A SNOW STORM. It would be great if the costume designers gave the characters individual style too. One thing that most no one is mentioning, it’s doubtful the show will get Greenlee or even Ryan actors back since they made huge moves out west. Agnes I believe will be heavily involved with AMC reboot this is why AMC is more expensive. ABC needs to at least honor both soaps and give each soap a week’s worth of episodes to actually go into the online versions for fans to launch. LaLucci LIVES! ABC could preempt The Spew for one week! Log in to Reply Soap_Stud December 24, 2012 With AMC, I am hoping the half hour AMC focuses on Erica, Bianca, and Kendall. I’d love for Tad and Dixie to be part of it as well. On OLTL, I want nothing more than to see my gal Viki back in action. I imagine Bree won’t be interested in reprising Jessica, though. I’d love to see Blair part of the show as well. Log in to Reply Soap_Stud December 24, 2012 And let’s see…maybe Susan Flannery and Martha Byrne will take over the shows..both have an amazing understanding of soaps and have worked behind the scenes before. Log in to Reply stefanstavros December 24, 2012 Just a side thought about this if it actually happens (And that’s a BIG if): I smell a definite breakup of Jon Paul Lavossier and Farah Fath (that is, if they’re even still together)based on the well-known fact that JP LOVES NYC and the east coast and Fath was so gung ho on them going out west. However, Fath may be hard up for work so she might go back, too. Log in to Reply Soap_Stud December 24, 2012 I want P&G to get on the bandwagon and bring us GL & ATWT in the same format..lol Log in to Reply SoapArmageddon December 24, 2012 [quote=Soap_Stud]With AMC, I am hoping the half hour AMC focuses on Erica, Bianca, and Kendall. Log in to Reply TheMikeDubin December 24, 2012 With a model like what was described, it sounds like that could easily be put on TV somehow. This is a solution that should have been realized a few years ago, would have prevented a lot of nonsense. So, cancel The Chew and both both of these back at 30 min each. If ABC was interested in resurrecting Good Afternoon America (with dramatic re-tooling), that could air when the 2 shows don’t. Log in to Reply blake3b December 24, 2012 This looks promising! I still won’t get my hopes up until they are actually taping the show! But it would be a blessing if they were brought back. OLTL was my favorite soap (after Guiding Light was cancelled, it was my second favorite before then). I would love to see Viki, Dorian, David, Jessica, Natalie, Clint, Blair, Sam, Roxie, Rex, Gigi, her son (forgot his name), Vamir (not his wife or sister please!), Tea, Todd, and Victor Jr. AMC of course Erica, Kendall, Greenlee, Jake, Jordi Vilasuso’s character, Tad, Dixie, Opal, JR (please get him from B&B, he was better on AMC and what an ass! lol), Jack, Ian, Angie and Darrel. That’s all I can think of. Log in to Reply josser December 24, 2012 Connecticut? Somehow, I don’t think all of the AMC cast that moved to California will be willing to pick up their lives and move to the East Coast again. Log in to Reply DavidsMuse December 24, 2012 The new AMC doesn’t get me back without VI/David! Log in to Reply DavidsMuse December 24, 2012 Planes fly both ways, and actors go where the work is! The reduced work schedule should help greatly in that regard. The key for me is if PP has enough budget to entice them. Log in to Reply tealita December 24, 2012 If this is true, then I’m happy for you guys. I just really wanted my Tolcazar s/l, though. And how will this effect the Tale of Two Todds? Nertz! *sits in the corner with party hat askew* Log in to Reply mk1814 December 24, 2012 I’m holding back my excitement until they announce who will be writing and running these soaps. What made OLTL so great in it last few years was the combination of Frank and Ron. If Frank and Ron stick with General Hospital, I’m not sure the team will bring the same quality that we were use to. This may turn in to case where we might be better to keep out treasured memories rather than try are recapture the magic (i.e. “After M*A*S*H*, “Joanie Loves Chachi”, “Joey”). Log in to Reply soapy opie December 24, 2012 Hmmm….. I really want it to be true, but if they didn’t have the enormous amount of money to put it all together last year at this time, why would they have it now. I realize GH is doing pretty well & that might have encouraged some new investors, but the economy still stinks & money is still very tight all over. The fact that it’s happening so suddenly & so close to the end of the year, makes me worry that this will all turn out to be part of some “creative book-keeping”, at Prospect Park, that will get them a big fat tax break if they appear to be trying to get things going. Or something along those lines. Oh well, probably just being paranoid. lol We’ll see. Time will tell…… Log in to Reply brettyboy December 24, 2012 This is actually starting to sound like it could really happen and I’m glad they’re going to be half hour shows as I don’t want to give up any of the remaining 4 soaps! With them only being half hour episodes they don’t need large casts so as long as about half the casts agree to return it should be fine Log in to Reply SZima December 24, 2012 Considering PP’s history, I’ll believe it when I see it. Not sure about their plans…30-minute shows four times a week? I would hope their time management is better than B&B. (With that show, you can go weeks and weeks without seeing some characters.) Thirty minutes really isn’t enough time to move story along. They will have to make severe cuts in the cast in order to make this work…not that that’s a bad thing considering that most casts are bloated with inconsequential characters!! Personally, I don’t know if I would go to my computer every day to watch a couple shows. Maybe, IF they were good enough, but it’s been too long (and will be even longer) since these shows were on the air so how do you bring them back? So many of the original cast/crew have moved on to other projects that are monetarily more appealing than a web show, so I highly doubt that they would be coming back. Its pretty tough to re-create the wheel. Even Susan Lucci has too many other irons in the fire with Devious Maids coming up, plus her show on Investigative Discovery, plus her Pilates shows. At her age (and I’m a year younger than her and retired), I would think she would be looking to slow down a little! I guess I’ve just moved on and found other things to watch, so whether or not AMC and OLTL become web series makes no difference to me. Log in to Reply LoveVillians December 24, 2012 I agree SZima…They need to use all the characters and not just the same old ones. Another problem with B&B is everybody is related. If it is on the web, will the show be 30 minutes without commercials. If so, it will be 10 minutes longer than B&B, which is really sucking lately. Will it cost to watch them? I would love for it to focus on Erica, Bianca and Kendell. I want my Zach back – HOT! HOT! HOT! I also want Erica to stay with one man. She has been with too many. OLTL I want my Vicki and Clint to be the base. I also miss Victor. With Todd and Starr on GH, leave them there. Log in to Reply blake3b December 24, 2012 I’m sure the show can tape way in advance so that the actors can fly and film scenes, Days tapes three months in advance so maybe they can do the same. Log in to Reply appleridge December 24, 2012 Well given that both shows will only produce 168 original episodes a year, (Not counting the 42 episodes each of the recaps) then they should have many months off to do other projects. I see a production schedule like DOOL where they are 3 months ahead Log in to Reply KathyNYC December 24, 2012 The important ones are still on the east coast – important to me anyway. Susan Lucci and Alicia are on the east coast, as is Ray McDonnell. Thorsten Kaye and David Canary are even in CT. I think Rebecca lives on both coasts. Lots of people could commute – that’s what happens when you are an actor in general. People travel for work. I don’t see a huge amount of people from AMC working full time on the west coast so I don’t see this as being a problem.
