Jack Wagner on Possible General Hospital 50th Anniversary Return: “They Have Called, But There's Nothing in Ink”

As General Hospital begins to ramp for its 50th Anniversary celebration this spring, we’re beginning to get a hint of the possible stars Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati are exploring for return visits to Port Charles. In an interview with The Huffington Post, Jack Wagner discusses the likelihood of a reunion between his character Frisco and Kristina Wagner’s Felicia.

At the risk of bringing up the soap hype, is there any chance you would return to "General Hospital"?

That 50th anniversary I think is coming up, right? But I have nothing to say about it. They have called, but there's nothing in ink or anything like that. I know it would be pretty special to work with Kristina, my ex-wife, again so we'll see what happens. I know it's around the corner here and if I go back, it would only be for a very short story arc. But I might do it just to honor that show and what it's meant to my career and the fans and to Kristina's career.

Is it bad that I could live without Frisco returning? Maybe its because I missed the whole Frisco and Felicia era but he's kinda a dead beat dad.

The_Moustache, it sounds very much like he is angling for money or actually a meatier role on the anniversary show or a longer arc than what he is talking about here. He is being very subtle about what he wants.

Seriously, if it wasn't that then he would be saying something like "They've contacted me. I'm stoked and extremely excited because not only will I work with my ex wife but I will be able to pay tribute to the show that gave me my start! Its now all up to the agents."

BUT I don't understand why they would bring him back without exploring the issues Maxie must have with him abandoning her and her sister for years. It's never been addressed in a meaningful way and to just bring him back to fill space would be a waste.

He doesnt look too well on this picture. Why doesnt he call Brad Bell and ask him to write a decent goodbye story. At least Owen and jackie had an episode where there was some kind of closure, but the way Brad lacked to write Nick off is by far thge most ridiculous plot hole ever.

I think Frisco is just a small part of GH's rich history and cast of characters, so I won't be heartbroken if Maxie's deadbeat dad is a no-show. They could actually get more story out for Maxie and Felicia if they found out that Frisco was killed on assignment.

I, for one, would be thrilled if Frisco returned. Even if it was for a short stint. Frisco and Felicia to me are like Luke and Laura to others. I still remember Kristina and Jack being interviewed on GMA about the wedding because it was such a big deal. I can't hear Lady of my Heart without getting mushy! LOL

I can take or leave Frisco. He IS a deadbeat. Felicia was only written as a deadbeat because Guza and Phelps didn't want to work a deal with KW. Frisco always put the WSB before his family. Even when Maxie had her heart transplant. And she couldn't even be bothered to show up for Georgie's funeral. (yes I know it was because JW was under contract at B&B). If he comes back, Maxie better rip into him like she did Felicia! But I also like the idea of Frisco dying on assignment and Maxie and Felicia grieving him.

OR even better, Frisco returns with a very much alive GEORGIE!'

I DON'T WANT him back. He hasn't been on the show for 20 years and he looks terrible. Play Mac more!

There are more valuable players to GH's history to get back such as Laura, Scotty, Bobbie, TIffany, Brenda, Sean, Robin, Tom, Simone and Blackie.

I'd love Frisco to show up for a bit but only if he got a fun cameo or brief story arc. On OLTL, Tina Lord's return in 2008 for OLTL's 40th anniversary was horribly written but her return a few months prior to OLTL's finale was wonderfully written and executed. Tina and Cord got married! So, I'm for good story and at least with Frisco there's a familiarity. GH has not done a very good job with any of the newer characters and I'd trade them for a few "blasts from the past."

Well, as an avid watcher of GH in the 80s, I can definitely say that Frisco was a HUGE part of GH history, not a small part. And to say that Tom or Simone are more valuable players to GH's history is vastly underrating Frisco's place in this show.

Frisco and Felicia are arguably the 3rd most popular pairing to ever come out of GH, trailing only Luke & Laura and Robert & Holly. You had to see F&F to understand what I'm talking about - Felicia and Mac could never hold a candle to F&F. They were an iconic couple and it would be a shame if Frisco didn't show up when others from that era are.

There are a lot of angles the writers can pursue with a Frisco return - his relationship with Maxie, his relationship with Felicia, where he's been all these years, what prevented him from attending Georgie's funeral (or his brother Tony's, for that matter). He could very easily be woven into the Faison/Jerry storyline to work with Anna and Robert as well. Has Frisco been held captive for years? Duke was, so its not so far-fetched that Frisco may have been.

Lots of story to tell here - I just hope they get a chance to tell it.

I'd like to see him back again for one last Mac/Felicia/Frisco triangle...this time Felicia chooses her Mac.

Anthony Geary is a deadbeat for constantly being unavailable to travel the world. Don't know if it is a budget thing in real life but doesn't look good to always be absent even though he appears in the opening credits. Luke may be in prison off-screen or in some other sort of precarious position but he needs to come back and be around for Lulu in her conception/baby-making story. And make Felicia choose between Mac, Luke, and Frisco. LOL.

It is in his contract. He has that stipulation. I believe it was rumored that he will be retiring in the Spring. So Luke may be leaving.

Would love it if TG left GH,he's said in several interview he didn't think it beneficial for Laura to return unless it was good for his character. Who cares about his character. He wants to play a darker Luke and Laura doesn't fit into that,he's over the L&L scenario - please. Bring SN Stefan Cassadine back for Laura. Stephen Nichols and Genie Francis have such wonderful chemistry and a great history together and they could fight Helena which would be fantastic and all three including Alexis can play any scene together and make it gold. I'd love a Stefan/Nikolas/Laura reunion and find out Nik was indeed Stefans son not Stavros after all. Have it be proven that Helena faked the test results to have everyone believe otherwise. Nik is Stefans son and it should of stayed that way. Would be great if Laura and Stefan were both held captive by Helena and are freed to come back to PC for revenge:)
