HomeTVAll My ChildrenProspect Park Officially Announces Plans to Resume All My Children and One Life to Live Jamey Giddens January 7, 2013 29 Comments Prospect Park has released a press release confirming their plans to once again attempt to revive All My Children and One Life to Live. According to the production company, the two soap operas will "anchor programs on The Online Network (TOLN)". I see they're sticking with that name for their website. Okie dokey… See the full press release after the jump! We are pleased to confirm that Prospect Park is reviving the beloved soap operas, All My Children and One Life To Live as the anchor programs on The Online Network (TOLN). Today we are also pleased to confirm that Prospect Park has: 1) signed guild agreements with both SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) and the DGA (Directors Guild of America); 2) entered into a consulting agreement with Agnes Nixon the creator of All My Children and One Life to Live guaranteeing her active involvement; 3) hired Foz McDermott (coordinating producer Heroes) as TOLN’s head of production, Jennifer Pepperman (Director, One Life to Live) as Executive Producer on One Life to Live, and Ginger Smith (Producer, All My Children) as Executive Producer on All My Children; and 4) arranged the necessary financing to begin production in February on both All My Children and One Life To Live. We thank the loyal audience and new generation of fans of both shows who have demonstrated that passion and exciting story lines are not just reserved for traditional television. Their enduring support encouraged us to move forward each and every day. We look forward to sharing more details including our launch air date and additional specifics in the coming weeks. 29 Responses appleridge January 7, 2013 My thoughts on #PP & #WGA. I think #PP will hire Fi-core writers to write #AMC & #OLTL at first so they can be in production by March as Debbi Morgan says. I also think they will continue the WGA talks & when that is final hire someone within WGA to take over as HW for the soaps. Its not like this hasnt been done before. Werent Tyler Perry’s TV shows non union for a while & they got union deals later. I know Tyler Perry is not a daily soap, But I believe they will have WGA deal eventually Log in to Reply mafelix86 January 7, 2013 Well, it looks like any doubts I had about Prospect Park reviving AMC (never was a OLTL fan) can now be put to rest. If this new format takes off, maybe GL and ATWT can come back from the dead as well. Log in to Reply giogio January 7, 2013 This is such good news. After all the pain we did go thru with these shows being canceled. So many people out of work in a really bad enviorment. Such good news. Now I wish for GL And ATWT fans/actors to get such a break. And I hope with all my heart Robin Strasser returns. Log in to Reply DaytimeFan0001 January 7, 2013 This press release is smoke in mirrors. I’m not buying it. I want to- but I’m not. I thought “production was supposed to start in January?”. There is no talk of the WGA. They are doing what they did last time, signing people to make it look like they are making progress. There are a lot of moving parts to creating a tv show, it’s business. All the WGA has to do is say no to an agreement and it’s done. I want the shows to survive- but press releases like this carefully worded one make me skeptical and fearful for fans to be hurt again. Log in to Reply angrierblackerman January 7, 2013 I don’t believe it either. They got us once already, so naturally I will be skeptical until the end of the first episode. As a wise sage named George W. Bush once said, “Fool me once…shame on, shame on you…fool me, cain’t get fooled again…” Log in to Reply Thomas January 7, 2013 I am going to just stay postive hopefully this work Log in to Reply BossTime01 January 7, 2013 Putting Prospect Park skepticism as well as joy for fans of these shows aside, I’m really interested to see how this effects the 3 OLTL characters currently populating the GH canvas. Unless earlier reports were wrong, Prospect Park – and certainly Agnes Nixon – owns the intellectual property rights to those *characters*. Meanwhile, the *actors* who portray them are clearly under contract to ABC. Unless there’s some sort of settlement or Prospect Park chooses to “play nice” and move OLTL on without those characters, this has the potential to get really, really messy… Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 January 7, 2013 STILL not getting excited…………. Log in to Reply TV Gord January 7, 2013 I’m encouraged to see something concrete from Prospect Park, and while I share the skepticism of the others on here, they are really putting their necks out with this one. It’s put up or shut up time. Let’s see where things stand by the end of February. If they can get something concrete in the works by then without a series of delays, I’ll be much more encouraged. Did anyone see The Good Wife last night? I’m picturing soap fans as Alicia and Prospect Park as the businessman who kept delaying the deposition he was supposed to give. If I start to see any of those shenanigans, any optimism I have will evaporate. I still don’t see how they can survive on internet advertising revenues alone. This is a hopeful sign, but let’s just say this release hasn’t made me forget the Vanity Fair article. Log in to Reply Y2Jin99 January 7, 2013 I just think its too late for GL and ATWT. I don’t remember the passion to save those soaps like their was for AMC/OLTL. Plus GL killed off Alan Spaulding. bad move Log in to Reply The_Moustache January 7, 2013
Prospect Park Officially Announces Plans to Resume All My Children and One Life to Live
you mean like the last time they announced, and the time before that and then nothing even happened!!?? Log in to Reply J Bernard Jones January 7, 2013 TV GORD wrote Did anyone see The Good Wife last night? I’m picturing soap fans as Alicia and Prospect Park as the businessman who kept delaying the deposition he was supposed to give. A GENIUS analogy! Well played, sir! Well played! (And in a bit of kismet, the businessman was noted character actor James Rebhorn, best known to daytime soap fans as the horrific, despicable “Bradley Raines” from Guiding Light.) Log in to Reply dsmwmn January 7, 2013 This has all happened before. LOL Love it Mustache! The website looks just the same as it has for the last year. No pictures, no nothing. I signed up for their email list before and never heard anything. Are they going to do the same this time? Honestly the more “news” we get from PP the more irritated I get. I don’t want PP little experiment to be at the expense of GH or the actors who now have a home there. I suspect a lot of what happens to them will just depend on if PP is for real this time. I think OLTL actually has enough characters that they can chose from without taking those 3 away from GH. Log in to Reply appleridge January 7, 2013 If Todd Starr & Mcbain Leave GH, GH will be just fine. GH doesnt need these 3 to survive. JMO Log in to Reply mrsa1107 January 7, 2013 So is there any chance they will end up on a cable station like USA or anything like that? Isnt Prospect park’s other shows on USA? How great would that be???????? I am just not sure web shows will get the following that a regular station would get……. On another note– dont get me wrong I am happy to learn that those 3 actors signed on for AMC— but why have there been no announcments about OLTL cast members yet! And I think both shows need their leading ladies on board to really get the proper kick off’s…………. and by leading ladies I mean… AMC– Susan L OLTL- Erika But both shows have secondary leading ladies who I hope to see sign up soon too AMC- Kendal and Bianca OLTL- Dorian, Blair, Natalie and Jessica Log in to Reply appleridge January 7, 2013 Given that they air on #TOLN first I doubt we will pay. I could see PP say you have 7 days to watch this weeks AMC & OLTL before they move them to HULU PLUS like place where u then have to pay to view them. Then release the next weeks episodes and repeat the process. Then hopefully down road, a cable station airs them Log in to Reply appleridge January 7, 2013 I have heard that #PP are rotating filming not airing of soaps. #AMC will film 5 weeks then #OLTL will film 5 weeks and then repeat until both soaps produce 168 episodes. Those 168 episodes will air M-Thurs for 42 weeks at a 30min length. Every Friday for those 42 weeks PP will air a recap of OLTL & AMC Im thinking each week the soaps will film 8-10 episodes and at the end of each 5 weeks have 40-50 episodes to air So filming of OLTL wouldn’t begin until March-April. And that’s why the AMC-ers are being lined up first. Log in to Reply mrsa1107 January 7, 2013 did Royal Pains start as a web show?? Log in to Reply Soap_Stud January 7, 2013 I think GH could survive without the Starr, Todd, and McBain, but I don’t want them to! There are plenty of characters from OLTL’s over 40 years of history to fill the void. With that said, if it is true AMC will premiere first and OLTL will tape later, it does give GH a lil more time to wrap things up, though I am not sure how far ahead they tape. This is exciting fans! Our voices have been heard. Refusing to watch the replacement shows..awesome! Continuing to keep AMC and OLTL in the minds of fans and execs..awesome…Ron and Frank helped by bringing Todd, McBain, Starr, Blair, and Tea over to PC. Log in to Reply appleridge January 7, 2013 No it started on USA Log in to Reply appleridge January 7, 2013 Its also possible that Todd Starr & John can remain on GH but cross over to OLTL when story calls for it Log in to Reply The_Moustache January 7, 2013 they should move the show to Netflix or YouTube instead of a singular website. Log in to Reply bishbay January 7, 2013 Agnes Nixon sold her soaps to ABC decades ago. She has no claim on any piece of them. Log in to Reply The_Moustache January 7, 2013 @bishbay i agree. Ag has no legal/physical/moral right to the shows anymore and hasn’t for decades. she’s just the “face” and that’s it. she should be thankful Prospect Park are ALLOWING her to speak out about it. Log in to Reply liason4real January 7, 2013 John, Todd and Starr can move back to OLTL. GH has a rich history of characters like the Baldwin’s, Webber’s, Hardy’s, Nicholas, Laura, Jax, etc… that they can bring back to the show. Log in to Reply Daniel St. John January 8, 2013 I have made a New year’s resolution to stay positive about this Prospect Park business so I won’t even say anything about that name they are sticking with for the channels…I do hope they are working to try and secure some type of presence on a cable network like Lifetime or Oxygen to maybe air episodes the day after they appear online if they can’t get a deal to air them day and date. And good things come to those who wait. Or so it is said. About an hour ago I agreed to be part of the OLTL revival and I’m thrilled to be involved in entertainment history as the show we love moves to other formats. The fans consistent drum beat of support played a large part in Prospect Park never giving up trying to find a solution. And today they announced it to the world. With the cherry-on-the-top-news that Agnes Nixon has been hired as a consultant! For those who doubted, I don’t blame you as this has never been done before. For those who never lost hope and never stopped writing and calling, well, good things come to those who wait. Congratulations to you all. Welcome back to Llanview. Love, jerry verDorn.
