HomeTVThe Bold and the BeautifulDollar Bill Falls on Liam’s Tiny Sword on The Bold and the Beautiful Luke Kerr January 10, 2013 The Bold and the Beautiful, TV Recap 14 Comments Daytime Confidential’s Jamey Giddens is right; Bill Spencer’s (Don Diamont) instant drinking problem is contrived, lazy and out of nowhere. Everytime a character brings up Dollar Bill's "problem with alcohol", I just roll my eyes. This subplot came out of left field — much like Bill's decision to stab himself with Liam's (Scott Clifton) miniature sword necklace charm. At Forrester, Thomas (Adam Gregory) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) discussed their fashion lines and the competition against Rick (Jacob Young), Hope (Kimberly Matula) and Caroline (Linsey Godfrey). Of course, the conversation turned to Steffy and Liam (Scott Clifton). Steffy said Aspen just does something to her and Liam. She also insisted they are at a place in their relationship that Hope can’t touch. At Liam’s house, Hope continued to insist Bill had destroyed their chance to be together. She also insisted she didn’t want to come between the father and son, because she knew what Liam’s relationship with Bill meant to him. Liam drove off to confront his dad, flashing back to several instances where Bill bullied Liam into being the son he wants him to be. At his father’s house, Liam told Bill they were over. They’d see each other at work, but that was it. When Bill said he’d do better, Liam told his father he didn’t believe him. Liam took off the sword necklace and gave it back to Bill, saying he didn’t like what it represented. As Liam was about to leave the house in a huff, Bill stabbed himself with the tiny sword! Once again, I rolled my eyes. The great Bill Spencer fell on Liam's tiny sword? Seriously? Joel McHale will love that scene on The Soup. 14 Responses booze26 January 10, 2013 The whole damn storyline could be so much better if there was actually some build up. There was none, and Brad knows how to write these stories (Taylor and Macy) The drinking issue was laughable. Caroline that fell over the balcony was lame and the fact that she is all right is laughable at best, and then the confrontation. First Hope is bursting through a window, that was totally out of character and the follow up was a complete bore. Then Liam confronts his father, a confrontation with no suspense or build up (again) which only lasted 4 minutes and then ended with Bill stabbing himself in the heart. Of well…it symbolized that Liam stabbed him in the heart…but it was ridiculous, lame and over the top. Log in to Reply ldylkng January 10, 2013 The writing has gotten so bad, I’m surprised this show has any viewers left. I admit I watch, “or leave it on that channel” because I watch Y&R and the Talk. I dvr GH to savor because that has become my #1 after only watching for the last year. I have been a loyal CBS soap follower since 1959. So I remember when B&B was a good soap. Now it is not even worth sitting down for. No wonder Susan & Ronn wanted to flee! Log in to Reply jcmellencamp78 January 10, 2013 Anyone who complains about FV and RC on GH, watch one episode of B&B. This show has been on and off my DVR more times that Ridge and Brooke got married. Brad Bell, get it together. Log in to Reply Mets82 January 10, 2013 Yeah, I dont like it too. I think Bill has anger problems and control issues but I dont think he has a drinking problem either. Log in to Reply Traysoblue January 10, 2013 This show is lame and just stupid these days!! |( I hate to admit this was one of the shows (Guiding Light the other) that got me hook on Soaps. Brad Bell is being a lazy writer, there is no way to sugar coat it. If he is burned out I strongly suggest he step down as head writer and give it to someone who can bring life back in to this show. There is nothing bold or beautiful about this show. It should be the boring and the hot mess. Log in to Reply DanielAvery January 10, 2013 I guess I’ve been reading too much DC, because when I read that headline, I thought it was one of Jamey’s colorful euphemisms and thought “They’ve finally taken the B&B incest thing too far.” Log in to Reply brettyboy January 10, 2013 Couldn’t agree more with everything you say ldylkng! B&B has gone from being my favourite show for 2 decades to a chor. I think most viewers, like me are just hoping and hoping for it to go back to the way it used to be, ie good! My faith has almost died however and I plan to stop watching when AMC comes back unless there has been a dramatic improvement. I too have only watched GH for a year and it is now my favourite show by miles! If only Frank and Ron could write and produce B&B, with the show’s wonderful character history they could make it fabulous again! I am 100% certain that Susan leaving was more to do with feeling that she wasn’t needed any more and seeing what a crap show it has become than wanting to retire! Log in to Reply dwood37 January 10, 2013 Clearly, Bill Spencer stabbing himself with a miniature sword has got to be the STUPIDEST,SILLIEST, most RIDICULOUS scene ever contrived in the HISTORY of Daytime television! Over the ENTIRE run of B&B, it goes from one extreme to the other–really, really good to really, really BAD! Brooke in heat over Bill, the DUMB storyline over his drinking, Caroline falling over a balcony (PLEASE…LET HER DIE!!!), and finally, Bill stabbing himself! Does Brad need to step down as Head Writer because he is TOTALLY out of ideas??? If I see one more scene with Liam, Hope, and Steffy, I think I will SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where’s Johnny Zacchara when we need him? He needs to shoot out the tires of Liam, Steffy, Hope, Caroline and Rick and watch them all careen over a cliff!!!!! Log in to Reply katy kennicott January 10, 2013 I was laughing so hard at that scene that I had to run it again and show my husband (not a soap watcher.) He’s still laughing. I thought I was watching the old Carol Burnett show when she would do As The Stomach Turns. I can just see $Bill being played by Harvey Korman in a black wig with his shirt open in the front. hahahahaha!!! Log in to Reply Mets82 January 11, 2013 I guess Bill didnt stab himself after all. I will say one thing, Bold and the Beautiful is good sometimes but like today it gets on my nerves.I mean they literally recycle dialogue and storylines now with Steffy/Liam and Hope. Not for nothing, no more flashbacks please!!! How many times do I have to see Liam and Hope in Italy??!! Hope and Liam in Italy isnt exactly Prince William and Kate Middleton. Log in to Reply brettyboy January 11, 2013 Yesterdays episode was just as shit. Log in to Reply SZima January 11, 2013 Someone please let us know if the “Tiny Sword Stabbing Scene” makes it onto The Soup. I don’t watch that show, but if it’s on, I’ll find it! That scene was so dumbfoundingly hysterical, I had to re-wind/re-watch several times…something I never do! :cash: Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
