RUMOR REPORT: Marlene McPherson to Write All My Children; Prospect Park Searching For Co-Head!

According to sources, Prospect Park is very high on former Days of Our Lives head writer Marlene McPherson for their All My Children continuation. McPherson was allegedly thisclose to getting the head writer position at One Life to Live. However, PP decided Susie Bedsow Horgan and Thom Racina would make a better fit for that sudser's reboot.

The buzz is McPherson will be one of the two head writers of the new All My Children, working closely with series creator Agnes Nixon. Prospect Park is actively looking for a co-head writer for the project.

OK. On second thought, I do give her credit for Evil Will. That was the one good storyline amongst the over all boring mess that was Marlene's Days.

OK so I dont know who this person is but I hope she knows we are looking for action. Anyhow, I have an idea. How about if the real Kendall and Zack dont come back recast them with Sara Joy Brown and Rick Hearst? Im preparing for re-casts cause there is too much silence on the horizon and I personally dont care if they dont want to come back. We had to get used to not seeing anything, I can handle recasts. Other than Agnes Nixon, Lorraine Broderick is the only person who should be the head writer of All My Children. Prospect Park needs to make it happen.

At "least" all the writers have some soap experience so that's saying something maybe this will turn out to be a good thing.

I think they can do better than this. As josstheguy said, Marlene proved at Days that she has no understanding of how to write an exciting show.

She has halfway decent ideas but horrible execution. I know she blamed it on NBC but all headwriters get interference -it's part of the job and the good ones shine in spite of it. Next!

She has no history with this show. Plain and simple. Not a good thing.

This rumor I am less enthused about. OLTL has Clint and two writers I trust and I already know I will watch that.

AMC has Lindsay Hartley and this maybe writer. I'm not sure if Debbi Morgan will be enough to hold me because I know the i'm blind, i'm pregnant, my baby's dead and buried in the studio's parking lot bushes we'll pretend is a Pine Valley park did not grab me at all, acting aside.

I was reading online a rumor was that Pam Long possibly being considered for AMC...could that be true? If so she could work with Pam.

The Will Horton coming out story was strong. She brought back characters fans had wanted back and EJ and Sami were much more interesting under her time as co- headwriter. No it wasn't perfect but she did win an Emmy.

Plus, Agnes would be a great mentor for her!

The woman looks like she is older. Agnes shouldn't have to mentor her. Marlene should be mentoring new writers.

Glad we have experienced writers but I'm concerned that with most of them being over 60 that the re-boots won't tell stories that grab younger viewers.

I'm not sure about this either. I wish it was Lorraine Broderick but she's stuck at Days. But if Agnes is overlooking the stories that's a great sign!

Honestly it doesn't appear that anyone can help days

I'm not thrilled that Marlene has lived in Days/Passions Camp City for so long, but I hope she absorbs every word, direction, and recommendation from Agnes about AMC history, characters, and its unique style!

Ugh, really? So they're going to reboot these shows with the same old tired, burned out writers that helped ruin them. I was hoping they would seek out fresh new talent Sad

What I'd really like is for Marlene to go back to Days and have Lorraine Broderick leave days for AMC. But I'll settle for Marlene at AMC, I thought as one half of the pair known as MarDar she was doing a good job at Days. It wasn't perfect but it was 100x better than the crap Tomlin has put on the screen since then.

I was never as high on MarDar at DAYS as others, though I think they made some improvements in certain areas. Their real problem, IMO, is they didn't know how to write long story. Something might look good on paper, and be interesting at first, but then it falls apart or just has no point. The one story that did go on and on (and on) was the Alice mystery thing (the letters, the box, the key, the egg, the coin, the torture!), which resulted in that horrible Princes Gina/Pawn Hope married to John mess. So, I guess this is my way of saying the co-head writer better know how to write long story.

I liked Marlene because she listened to fans and is a fan of soaps herself. NBC and Corday held her back from some of the stories she wanted to do. I think that Prospect Park is going to give these writers more freedom. I think a perfect idea for a co-head writer is Sheri Anderson. She is probably my favorite writer from Days history and I thinks she was writing with Days the same time as Thom Racina. When will we get an official announcment?

I'm fine with Marlene as long as she has a Co HW with years of AMC experience Smile

Be thankful PP didn't hire Hack Higley or Luza Guza as writers Sick
