HomeTVAll My ChildrenRUMOR REPORT: Thom Racina and Susie Bedsow Horgan to Pen New One Life to Live? Jamey Giddens January 13, 2013 All My Children, One Life to Live 9 Comments Has Prospect Park found the writing team to bring One Life to Live back to life? Rumors are swirling that former OLTL executive producer Susie Bedsow Horgan has revealed via Facebook that she and veteran soap scribe Thom Racina have been tapped to co-head write the sudser's online version. I'm running this as a RUMOR REPORT, as I am not a friend on Horgan's profile. According to Horgan's LinkedIn profile, she was OLTL's E.P. from 1994–96. During her tenure the Patrick (Thorsten Kaye) and Marty (Susan Haskell) romance was frontburner, as the exec reportedly pushed hard for the popular pairing. Since 2005, she has worked as a life coach. Racina is one of daytime television's most prolific and successful writers, having served as co-head writer for ABC's General Hospital during its historic glory years (1981–84.). Racina was largely responsible for the legendary "Ice Princess" storyline and also wrote the wedding of Luke Spencer (Tony Geary) and Laura Webber Baldwin (Genie Francis), which was watched by over 30 million viewers. Racina then headed over to Days of Our Lives from 1984–86, where along with Leah Laiman and Sheri Anderson, he created the iconic character of Steve "Patch" Johnson (Stephen Nichols). Racina was integral in shaping DAYS' era of monster hit supercouples like Roman and Marlena, Bo and Hope, Patch and Kayla, Shane and Kim. Racina went on to write for such sudsers as: Another World, Santa Barbara, Generations and most recently The Young and the Restless. He is also a best-selling novelist. Going into the weekend, buzz was strong that former DAYS head Marlene McPherson was a lock for the OLTL head writing gig. There is no word on whether McPherson will still be involved in the continuation. Keep checking back with Daytime Confidential as this story develops! Log in to Reply Soap_Stud January 13, 2013 We Love Soaps is reporting this (Racina/Horgan) as a fact. Log in to Reply Daniel St. John January 13, 2013 If true I guess this would mean we will get an emphasis on romance more so than we got during Frank and Ron’s run at OLTL. As much as I enjoyed their version of the show there was a noticeable lack of sweeping soapy romance during their tenure. The same can be said for their GH too. Log in to Reply harlee490 January 13, 2013 Great point Daniel St John…the proof is in his work…even with all craziness of Ice Princess story there was PLENTY of romance going…aka “Romancing the Stone” type stories and look at Days super couple explosion. Regardless what soap ROMANCE needs to return to all soaps in a big way. It wasn’t suprising they became a real-life couple. Their scenes were so romantic. Unfortunately Cartini ruined the character of Marty by turning her into a psycho killer. She deserved a better ending. Log in to Reply appleridge January 14, 2013 Marty was an alcoholic liar who stalked Andrew & wanted him for herself. She also lied that he molested Billy Douglas. Marty was no SAINT & her turning crazy is not far off imho Log in to Reply liason4real January 14, 2013 Marty going off the rails was a combination of too many things happening to the character in a span of few years. Patrick’s death, Cole killing Eli, Cole going to prison, finding out her real history with Todd#2, Hope’s death, Hope being alive, and Natalie putting the moves on John while the two dealt with her miscarriage.
