Todd, John and Starr OUT at General Hospital! Will They Return?

Look for the characters of John McBain (Michael Easton), Todd (Roger Howarth) and Starr Manning (Kristen Alderson) to at least temporarily exit General Hospital some time in the near future, according to sources. Per the agreement ABC Daytime made when they originally brought on the three One Life to Live characters, GH has to stop using Todd and Co. now that Prospect Park's The Online Network is prepping to relaunch OLTL.

Prospect Park—which licensed OLTL and All My Children following their cancellations by ABC—wants to use the three character to help relaunch OLTL on the web and via other digital and cable platforms. However, PP might not want them for the long haul.

"Prospect Park realizes these three characters could initially help draw fans to the new One Life," explains a source. "There are ongoing talks between ABC and Prospect Park about the characters returning to General Hospital at some point, which could be fine with [Prospect Park] as they eventually want to go much younger with their soaps."

While Easton, Howarth and Alderson are said to be less than ethused with the "prospects" of leaving their day jobs, there's speculation that ABC—to which they are under contract—could ask them to appear on OLTL in a show of good faith.

"There's no guarantee the actors will do it," says one mole, "but people high up on the Disney-ABC food chain want to see these shows succeed online. The network might ask them to do it as a favor."

Expect the fictional Llanview Three to air on GH at least through February Sweeps.

Felicia was on yesterday and today. She is supporting Lucy at her arraignment. She is definitely on the show.

Let the OLTL trio go and watch the ratings down again...the GH ratings went up because tons of OLTL fan started tuning in. U GH peops seem to forget that for some reason. U seem to forget that b/4 John, Starr, and Todd came along GH was on the verge to being cancelled. If they permanently uproot the OLTL trio im out. I will just catch up on the GH plots via SheKnows.

And stop hatin' on Starr, that's my spunky girl. I love her with Michael. I think it's her best relationship thus far. I like them better than her and the Coles and James. They have a sweet and warm chemistry.

As for OLTL online bring it on! Estatic.Lets wrap up this Victor is Alive plot. I miss Trevor. Heck I miss Nat, Dani, Vicky, everyone. I appreciate the many OLTL references on GH but it's not the same.

I like the CW dramas but lets be honest they are not doing Hamlet on those shows. I believe Kristen Alderson will keep up with them just fine.

Have these people not learned yet? The decline of most all soaps is due the their "going younger". You would think they would notice this. It's great to go after new viewers, but they don't have to go younger to get them. Watching soaps is a family affair. It's something you do with your family more specifically a parent. It's a childhood memory of time together that as an adult is phone conversations when calling home. Young people want to see what the adults are doing. Just look at the original Dallas. All the actors were in there 30's and 40's on the show. I love GH but when they have too much of "the kids" on, I usually don't watch too heavy.

Those are some very good points. I for one would really like to see some ACTUAL closure for John and Natalie, not the half-a$$ed way they've dealt with it so far. Is Prospect Park definitely going to be doing this in NYC? That would be nice for some of the veterans, but it definitely wouldn't be fair to keep jerking RH, KA and ME back and forth from LA.

Not having been a OLTL fan or watcher, who cares. Todd is just to off the wall for me.At first he was funny, and I like comedy, now HIm and his daughter can go. Call Mcbain mc cain and have him stay. I think he has chemistry with everyone,Anna Sam,even Lucy.
If the actors are not under contract to PP let them write the shows for the others that want to return.
They can just change their names, and keep them. 4 days a week half hour shows and all the characters they have what will they do Three lines a day?

The only character I see Prospect Park really needing is John McBain to wrap up his relationship with Natalie. Todd was found not guilty for Victor's murder and Starr technically left OLTL to move to LA.

All that said, perhaps ABCD should have put a clause in the extenion of the licensing to Prospect Park or worked this out before they extended their licensing.

These characters have staying power for GH would much rather have them on GH than Sabrina, Britt and Kristina. Having Todd, John and even Starr brings positive things for GH more viewers as fans from OLTL will likely want to follow these well known established characters more viewers for the long haul. GH had so much mob depressing stories and characters. Todd is out there sometimes but his comedy wacky manners lighten things up.John is a classic soap hero in a show already top heavy with bad boys. Starr sometimes can be annoying but still works better than Sabrina and Kristina for the that age group. Also having these characters on air is kinda of a reminder of sorts to ABC of their network stupid decision to can OLTL.

If the PP revivals succeed abc will make $ for doing nothing. I think the best case scenario for Abc is for PP to do well with the relaunches. And if I recall correctly PP also has the option to license GH if it is cancelled. If Gh dips in ratings while PP has success with OLTL and AMC then ABC will find itself in a position to bring in $ with no overhead costs while producing cheaper shows for daytime tv. I can see why they would give PP all the chances they want

What is PP thinking? I can't believe ABC would even let these people go if they really want to revitalize their soaps. This is going to end badly...

@Dariclone: You haven't read the article. ABC signed the rights to OLTL and AMC characters over to PP. Prospect Park isn't doing anything wrong. They are within their legal rights to do so. ABC and the GH team knew this was always a possibility.

Happy to see Starr, John and Todd go back to OLTL.

As for value of characters, Kristina would be more valuable to GH than Starr if she was played by a better actress.

I think roger & Kristen are gone... Michael Easton however is a different story. PP has a license on the characters they play but ABC has a contract on the actors. Easton will stay on as Caleb Morley. Too many nods to "port Charles" going on lately

This is crap, McBain and Starr can go. Only reason I watched oltl was for Todd. Been watching GH for 35 years and was ecstatic when Todd came on, now to leave, guess my 2:00 opens up, will watch once in a while. Hope he just plan refuses, or limits to say a month. Not like I truly believe this format will work and will die a painful death like a few other shows that tried it, Black Donnelley's being one. Todd at least gave some humour and got it away from the mob storyline that was just running on far to long and really GH became the Sonny show. Don't get me wrong I do like him, just overkill and Todd helped break that up and still added some nastiness also not mob related.

Ruined my night to read this.

I find it funny how people all over the message boards are lamenting away about "What a big mess this is!"

It's not such a big deal. Things like these have to be dealt with in the corporate world on a weekly basis. They just need to sit down and reach to a, hopefully mutually beneficial, agreement. After that, it is up to the actors whether they want to be in the relaunch, or will the roles be recasted. It's really not such a big of deal. The only thing is to wait for ABC and PP to negotiate it out.

For me these three are part of GH nowand if the actors are happy here then PP and ABC should find a way to keep everyone happy. Have them wrap up their stories and come back.

Really?? Keep everyone happy?? OH YOU MEAN GH FANS! BULL!!!!! Those are PP CHARACTERS NOT GH'S! And that is something you GH fans need to GRASP!
Number 1 it had already been established on OLTL that Marty changed the Results of the test and LIAM IS JOHN'S REGARDLESS IF GH FANS LIKE IT OR NOT! When John left to go get "Todd" he had just gotten back with Natalie and they were planning on getting married so NO there is NO wrapping up their "story line"

FYI PP does not have to follow GH's Story lines with these characters, And yes they do OWN them characters too, so yea they can just wipe out GH killing off 2 characters ABC had no DEAL to USE and bring them back for Starr where they should be....

The "2 Todd" Story line is FAR FROM OVER, so NO it is not tricky!

Some of you GH fans need to REALIZE them characters are NOT yours and PP and OLTL fans should not have to "Take one for them team" because RC FV AND ABC was given an inch by PP and they took off miles down the road with it and now want us to bite it to help them SCREW THAT!!

I keep hearing "Oh the actors are happy on here and with ABC" Funny ABC is not ALLOWING them to speak to the Media so all we are getting is ABC's Word for what the actors want! If they are so confident in the actors happiness and wanting to stay on the show why not let them talk to the media? Why not allow them to talk to PP?? They have their own minds and mouths why not let them speak? Why keep them quiet ABC?????
